I spent 5 years flying this plane at NWA. Last real mans aircraft. We only did flaps 40 for short runways, use 30 and see if you notice a difference. We never had the fancy nav system, always flew in heading mode and turned the A/C ourselves to stay on course. Looks like so much fun, might have to buy it.
When I was on this acft in 1996, flaps 40 was not authorized but when landing on a short runway such as Midway some captains would have the engineer take them to 40 after landing. You could feel the deceleration as they came down.
@@jeffbaker5837 That had to do with noise abatement. From the late 90s onwards flaps 40 was only allowed when absolutely necessary, and different carriers would implement this in differing ways

@@jeffbaker5837 Never flew the 727 personally, just an aviation historian/collector, I have manuals for maybe 20 727 operators

I've spent probably hundreds of hours as a passenger on the 727 and it was the first airliner cockpit I got to visit (yes, you could do that once upon a time).
It is the sexiest airliner. As of 2020, there was a 727 on the rap close to Dallas Station 21 that was still operational. It was a private plane in plane white.

I have the 414 FSS made, and it's incredible. If the 727 has the same level of visual quality in VR that the 414 does, I'll be in heaven. Already told the wife this purchase is happening weather she agrees or not, so wish me luck and maybe she won't kill me 😂

You have a switch above the altitude select window. Switch it to GPS for your HSI to give you INS nav info.

I did not know we were getting a proper 727, what a fantastic surprise! Something I secretly hoped for with the TFDI was finally getting a sound with the cargo door moving. For the TFDI price, I was expecting small but really immersive details like that. Needless to say, my mind was blown when I didn't just hear the hear door but also SEE the latches. There's a CIVA, the phase synchronisation (think this was even done by captain sim decades ago when they were good)... open window sounds. Ah man Christmas came early

for the CIVa, the battery light comes on at 8 as part of a self test. It stays on for something like 15-30 seconds. ITs been a long time since i worked on them

I'm in waiting pattern w/ card in hand for this bad girl!!!!! Comments sent to FSS for this. Hope that this can hold up to X-Plane "Jim" 727 (maybe later down the road once the pass. version comes out if needed).
During INS alignment phase, you will get the green light at countdown #5, but to get the most accurate alignment let it continue to 0. Also when using the Felis 727 in X-Plane, when present position was not known, I would get that number from Google Earth. As far as APU running in flight, it will for a while until the Flight Attendent come to the cockpit and lets us know there is a strange noise coming from the mid section of the cabin floor. Wonder how I know that. LOL
Hmmm. My total favorite plane, and childhood workhouse. But. . . seems like the scaling on things like the speedbrake handle are off. Too small. In fact, most of the center pedestal looks ill-proportioned. Interested though, and hopeful that the flight model matches the 727's unique characteristics--namely the snappy roll response and short field behavior.
Kalitta Charters retired their final example in April. USA Jet and IFL still operate them in the USA.
You turn off one b pump at cruise to save wear and tear on the pumps. You alternate them each flight. You only need one pump in flight.
Here is my question from my experience as a mechanic.....can this model show correct simulation of pulling the flap c/b in order to extend the slats and allow the aircraft to break mach 1?

Fokker 28 is amazing and I am sure this 727 comes close to it.

This looks great, exceded my expectations! And finally we get a CIVA. One negative point, l noticed on another streamer too, the external camera position looks too close to the model, when in normal zoom the whole aircraft doesn't fit in the shot, soo we need to zoom out which looks unrealistic and stretched. Pity, l hope they change it
Unfortunately, it's a common problem in msfs. Camera is too close to airplanes and you can't edit this afaik.

It's better to use the AIG library with the FSLTL injector, that way you'd avoid those blank AI traffic liveries
Beautiful airplane, exterior sounds are a little disappointing. Used to work on the Champion Air 727’s, way WAY more roar on takeoff..almost sounded like an F15 without burner…sounds good, just missing that LOUD shrill roar outside…sounds like a vacuum cleaner
Is there a more modern version of the airplane planned? Like a -200 advanced?

You had engine bleeds 1 and 3 in the off position for engine start. In real life you would get no air for start on those 2 engines. That is not realistic for the bleed air from the engines. Wonder if that will be corrected.
Cool plane but seems pretty stiff and no wing flex noticed at all. Almost like its one solid piece of meta being translated in 3d space.

I won’t even consider this. Look at the E-Jets and you’ll understand why. The E-Jets were released with so much promise but almost 2 years later and they’re still a pile of junk and unflyable
They have improved massively. Maybe if you stopped being so negative about everything, youd see that they are making improvements. They are a small team. Try to make those airplanes with 2 people and see how it goes.

Frankly speaking it looks terrible and, after their performance with the ERJ, that's precisely what I expected from them.
Sorry but after the release of the E-Series by FSS I would not trust them with another plane release until they get the Eseries to the promised release version.
