  • Today, we're inside a Braintree-bound MBTA Red Line train. Enjoy the views inside the train as well as some nice overground scenery. Of note, the operator makes several kind-hearted announcements as we near downtown Boston. Also, near the end of the video, a passenger freshly enlightened by these kind messages looks right at me and decides to shove into me for filming. Oh well!
    Filmed with Sony HDR CX-440 and Zoom H1 on 6/5/2018

    I love the high pitched noise they make when their throttle is increased.

      The electronic traction control equipment is one of the top reasons I follow passenger transit. I find it very fascinating!

    A year ago I rode MBTA subway for the first time. I was on the red line going to my Airbnb and the train had those sudden stops in the tunnel about two-three times.

      Thanks for sharing! It's a shame the MBTA has as many problems as they do. I enjoy riding around the Boston area and I hope they're able to recover properly!

    Miss these days back home living in Boston. If they ever had this in Houston I'd park my car in a heartbeat. But the solution in that part of the country is to add more roads and alas...more traffic. If Atlanta and Dallas can make it work it amazes me Houston drags their feet.

    • @NTxRE
      @NTxRE  4 года назад +3

      I'm sure it'll happen eventually. We can only expand upward so far before we have no other options. It's a shame though that's what it'll take to make Texans give up driving

      Yeah we can certainly use it in Houston. Have it run out to all the suburbs I think people would use it. The T in Boston has the commuter rail with park and ride, much like the bus in Houston. That runs out to the far suburbs and the Red, Blue, Green and Orange lines cover pretty much most of the city limits primarily, though parts run to the outer edges. They way Houston is built I've always thought that it would be perfect for rail. I live in the far north suburbs. I'd take the rail in a heartbeat here.

    Looks sparkling clean compared to New York's MTA

    • @NTxRE
      @NTxRE  3 года назад +8

      It was definitely cleaner, but Boston isn't nearly as busy as NYC. The MTA could definitely do better, but they're up against some harsh circumstances

    When my uncle used to live in Belmont and later Harvard Square in Downtown Cambridge we used to take all 4 of the MBTA Subways Red, Green, Blue, and Orange lines. Plus we also used to go on the MBTA buses and Commuter Rail too.

      That's strange! Maybe they've changed a lot since I visited last. Hopefully it's only so they can keep the trains behind them moving through.

    What took 18 minutes back in 2018 (JFK to Quincy Adams) now takes 50 minutes in 2023 because of the absolute incompetence of the T 😡. I miss when taking the T was actually palatable.

      I haven't been to Boston since these issues all came to a head... I can't imagine having to deal with those changes when that's what you rely on. Hopefully they have it sorted soon!

      Hi Charlie! Glad you enjoyed the video! If by "newer", you're referring to the late-90s stock Bombardier trains, I only managed to get a few short clips of it, but not a full ride. It'll be uploaded here in a couple days. I would have gotten a full ride back to Alewife, but I was limited on time so I transferred to the others to get a little bit of everything.
