Can somebody please explain to me why the outbound trains at Charles/MGH go so damn slow?

It's a code change by signal department. We have no control over the speeds change. The trains are under automatic train operations.

It's a real shame those 1800s are REALLY starting to show their age

Can someone educate me what the current problems are with the 01800's and the 0700's? Correct me if I'm wrong because I don't see these starting to show their age yet? It just would seem to be too soon to get brand new models for both of these since the 01800's (1994) and 0700's (2008) still have a modern feel to it. The orange line is definitely understandable but these lines I don't understand.

I don't understand replacing 01800's either. They've aged surprisingly well and still have a pretty modern feel like you said.

The 0700s have been fine, it's the 1800s that have been the unfortunate ones. Since 2019, they've began to show their signs of age, from sparks flying out the bottom of them to motor failure becoming the new norm.

700 series are the Blue Line trains and they are perfectly fine. The 1800 series on the Red Line have a shit ton of unreliability problems that it's better to replace them than try to rebuild them because they have problems so often
