If you live near a Hobby Lobby or a Michaels store, that cart for scrapbooking should be in stock there. Both of those stores have a coupon on their website for 40% off a single item at regular price.
Michaels sometimes offers a 50% off coupon on their receipts, too. Ask your friends and family who shop there if they have received such a coupon recently.
Either option makes them much more affordable.
This video is going to save me so much money. Thank you!!
I've been using Sterilite drawers, adhesive magnetic sheets and Bankers Boxes. If I have models too tall for my drawer, I remove the next drawer up to make room.
Good call on the tin, bit plastic bins and shopping bags though. I'll probably be integrating some of that into my storage/transport solutions.
Awesome I already use a bunch of plastic bins so this is perfect, thanks.
Awesome! I'm totally buying that! Thanks.
man, thanks..this made my storage and transpo so much easier
I’m in the UK. I use really useful boxes, A4 size for infantry and most beasts, but the 9litre one for taller stuff. They are more expensive boxes, but extremely sturdy. I then use magnetic paper as opposed to tin to base the box. Works a treat
Hey Paul. Which 'really useful box' fits the A4 sheets the best?
@@mattamos7228 i think he means 4L box.
From the 99cent store I found this clear plastic 2" tall shoe box that can fit perfectly in a Games Plus bag. And I found it easier to just glue steel washers under my minis and put a magnet sheet in the box.
@Sean Thompson they come in different thicknesses. True, the thin ones won't hold the minis . I've tested it. But the thicker ones work great. I can hold it upside down and shake it and only one mini fell off and that was only because he was a big solid unicast.
@Sean Thompson I have letter sized sheets by Litko that they describe only as "Heavy Duty". I measured them out to a full single millimeter. Mil, not to be confused with millimeter, is a stupid way of measuring and I'm got different conversion tables telling me something different and I'm getting really confused but I'm also looking for myself because those sheets are like $8 each and I want to save money if I can find a roll of them or something. But one website's table and Google's conversions is telling me that 60mil is 1.5mm so if it is the correct then that should be the thickness you want. My sheets might be 30mil because they don't surpass the 1mm mark so they might be 0.7mm but I can't tell for sure because we are getting really tiny at that point. But if my 30mil hold up then I'm sure 60mil would.
Rob you are the hero we need man. Another great video.
That's very useful. Will definitely have a think about this. I'm not too thrilled with the foam trays I use. I still end up breaking pieces off. This looks a lot more protective
foam trays are so hit or miss. half of the time they feel like sandpaper on my models.
Thanks for the idea. Used it for all of my minis
Great video !! Very informative

I know this video is old, but I find it funny that the container alone now cost $19.
For those of us in the UK, "Really Useful Boxes" are usable, fully modular and widely available. I use them with magnetic sheets inside to hold my 2p coin mounted figures.
Hobbycraft is the best source I'd found for them :)
@@AngusMcIntyre Rymans and ASDA stock them. Nearly always on "special offer".
Battlefoam is inconsistent, especially with Nighthaunt, however their MagaRack shows promise. I left feedback on one of the Nighthaunt trays that hold the Knight of Shrouds (not), three generic slots (these are fine), the endless spells (not really) and Lady O (don't know as I don't own the model).
Great vid!
Thanks for this
What I did was bought the reaper core paint and layer up set/kits, as they cames with 11 dif paints each (+3 minis each) and then used those cases in the same way. More expensive but if you need paint and have a small collection you can kill two birds with one stone. Works for me because my mini collection isnt huge yet. Only about 40 total models and eventually I'll need big cases like these but for now the reaper kit/cases and some magnet adhesive pages + 5x2mm discs does the trick~
This will work well for my knight army since I magnetised them at the waist joint to help transport them
Squadmarks upped their adhesive magnet prices a ton, it’s 10 for $2.00 ripoff. Amazon has magnetic bases that come with 100 for less than $10.00. Thanks for the tips this video was quite helpful. 👍🏻
Awesome
This is the best video!!!
I've made the same exact storages setup with 15x17 iris boxes and steel sheet. Mount them up with double sided foam and boom! Cheap case. I'm planning to buy a 17x17x35 duffle bag to store them and carry them around. We'll see how it goes.
dope LMK!
Great Video...where do you get the miniature foam blocks from...looking to make a d&d mini box
Hey man great video. What music are you using for your background music?
I found a citadel crusade case use for 120 CDN. I might buy it.
I just use the little single-layer opaque white plastic tackle boxes from walmart for like 9usd and cut up plastic bags for padding. Then again, I play Killteam. The only model I have that doesn't fit in one of those is my T'au XV-85 Commander. Al of my Admech mini's fit in one of those boxes and all of my t'au fit into the other one I have.
Is there a specific battle foam that fits these cases? Sadly that scrapbook tower with pull outs is almost $100 now.
I am still looking for something to put my Hive Tyrant sized models. They are just over 6 inches tall.
Otherwise. Awesome and super helpful video! Thanx!
_Magnets... Why is it always magnets?_
Jokes aside, I wish I could find or think of a solution that doesn't require magnets or cutting foam. These solutions both have a huge dependency on specifically built containers which leave little room for flexibility due to rigid and hard to define requirements.
One idea I've been toying with is using tackle boxes of varrying sizes for a frame. Padding would be cut out of foam, and glued to the sides of each compartment. The goal is to have a storage container which makes no assumptions about your model other than its physical dimensions, hence tackle boxes of varrying compartment sizes.
Was looking for a big container for riptides but alas the biggest one was 5 to 6 inches
nice

Good video, great ideas. I was hesitating going with the magnetized option. But if my minis aren't rubbing against foam or being compressed, I'm much happier. Thanks Rob!
For smaller models, pick up a tin of cookies/ crackers/ biscuits . European and Chinese grocery stores have them in various sizes. Perfect for infantry! Less than $10 and you get some snacks.
Looks great, but is it big enough to store three riptides?
Do you think you could glue the tin to the bottom of the bin? I'm not a super huge fan of double-sided tape. I've had issues using that when sticking minis to paint sticks for priming with the model falling off.
Yeah, actually my buddy said he used a little gorilla glue and when you add the water and smoosh it down it super bonds to the bottom and won't come apart.
How well do the sticky magnents adhere and stay on normal GW plastic bases?
I would say it holds quite well. I’ve got a beastclaw raider army and everything seems to be holding pretty well 👍🏽
This is very important, I am not very into mini's at the moment *out of the hobby* for a couple of years now but I have 100's of models I like this, thank you.
*edit*
As for larger models you could turn the case on its side and place them upright in the case then store them vertically in a box. just like how that large case with the window you have.
Can we get an affiliate link to the box shown at 6:34?
For the 5/16 magnetic discs, how thick are they and are they N52 grade?
Yes and really you should never go below n52 imho
Where is the link for foam?
I used to use metal toolboxes and magnets.
I find them a little too shallow for squads that contain standard bearers but otherwise it's fine
Okay so this may be a stupid question, but Ill ask anyway.
If I use magnets on base and movement trays... How do I get them to stay to a tin tray in my storage box? Wouldn't the polarity affect this?
Okay , but what I do if m’y figure is Archaon ?
I recommend wearing gloves while using the tin snips on the metal sheeting. I cut myself on the sharp edges a half dozen times, lol.
Blood for the Blood God, lol.
anyone get any recommendations for the uk as this are expensive as hell to ship to the uk?

Naw. But I got an idea for a video on one that will I have to buy them first.
@@spikeybitstv looking forward to that video!
I guess Spikeybits read my Reddit post. Some things to note: do not use double sided tape. Use small bolts and bolt caps. Tape will fail you if it gets hot. Also use small washers on your minis and just place the magnets on the bases. So not put magnets on your bases or they will stick together on the table top. Here is the Imgur post. m.imgur.com/t/diy/gTvpf88 Here is the Reddit thread. www.reddit.com/r/killteam/comments/ce4sgd/easy_way_of_transporting_my_minis/etyurbx?
To solve the problem with sliding use 2 or more magnets on the washers as I suggested using. This will cause there to be 2 points of magnetic contact and will stop and pivoting or sliding. Using washers and magnets I was able to leave a FW admech drill and Imperial Knight flipped upside down for 24 hours without them falling
Don't really read Reddit, but I did mention my buddy that turned me on to these in the video. Like minds and all.
Hey David curious what exact magnets you've used for this and what exact washers you've used?
@@mordarion the washers are 1/4th inch for the infantry models. Larger models and vehicles i used 1-1/4th inch washers. The magnets are just rare earth magnets I got on ebay. Here are some pictures imgur.com/gallery/DFkUYgV
Just take the magnets off when you play and put them back on when you put them back in the case. 2 or 3 points of contact on the metal with the magnets will keep them from sliding around.
Project case link (some of the liks, actually) doesn't exist anymore...
