Dads and daughters... that’s not shade... if a young girl has a strong male figure in her life that has been there for her and guided her , she is most likely gonna ask him to be there... it can be a family friend , an uncle , a godparent , a grandfather ! It’s inclusive to all male figures in the child’s life not just their father their necessarily ! You don’t need to be their dad to come

Its an incredibly sexist tradition. Fathers should be encouraged to take such caring, active roles ALL the time and for both their daughters and sons. It contributes to this feeling of men being "good fathers" for doing half the work as mothers, and also props up ideals of toxic masculinity (because god forbid that any son see affection from their father!).
