Hope Kevin sees this feedback. He's a learner, a brilliant man who is constantly learning. Wouldn't be surprised if he would appreciate the critique.
Absolutely. He doesn’t have an ego and loves to learn. I’m assuming he will see your reactions soon enough, if not already ❤️
They did this song as a mirror image to Queen for a reason. They didn’t change anything on purpose. Some songs should not be remixed. This is one of them
When they proform this live, Mitch uses just his voice , no megafone ,it's amazing ❤️
Holy shit! Really? Amazing.
Yup the megaphone is just eye-candy
whuuuaaaaaatttt
Facts
I have seen reaction videos from a few singer's perspective, and It helped to understand some of the vocal aspects, but seeing from a beat boxer's perspective is really awesome too. It's hard for me to hear exactly what is going on with Kevin as there is so much more going on, plus it's hard to hear all the sounds he makes sometimes.... And Kevin is just incredible ... you also have so much talent and when you mimic what Kevin is doing I am just at a loss for words! Thanks for giving your perspective and explaining what is going on with Kevin. Regular untalented (musically) people like me need help understanding this phenomenon....
you should check out their less produced songs like the "evolution of" medleys or something like "Gold" that show all of them going through the song in one shot and one take. Kevin's beatboxing really shines in those and you can watch what he's doing the whole time.
Thontor yes his beatboxing in all their evolution videos is so good with the constant tempo changes throughout. Evolution of Ariana grande, Rihanna, Michael Jackson or Beyoncé are all great.
Congrats on being featured on SwissBeatbox. Keep living the dream!
Xureck, we are very happy for your success. Your channel is only a couple weeks old and already you have about 500 subscribers. Congratulations. You are very informative and friendly and positive. Keep up the good work!!!! If you want to see another side of Pentatonix, please check out "Can't Hold Us" or "The Evolution of Michael Jackson" or some of their Christmas songs. 😀😀😀
Awww! Happy for you for getting that coveted feature! Btw I loved your suggestion to change the snare in that part. Sounded awesome and like it fit better. As an OG Pentaholic I am not upset lol. You weren’t being rude at at. It was meant as your opinion and you stated it very respectfully.
I'm new to your channel and I must say that you're, first of all, a GREAT beatboxer (as far as I can tell) and your comments and reactions are really insightful and entertaining, so you gained my subscription. Also congrats on getting featured on that channel! 👏🏾❤
Your overlay of the snare that should have been used was totally on point. It kept the music going like in the original song. There was a brightness that just added to the energy of that moment that was lacking before.
Congratulations!! So glad for you :) Your reactions are so unique to most PTX reactors because of your beatboxing skills. I don't think I've seen anyone else be able to talk about the technicalities of what Kevin is doing. I really appreciate that side of your reactions. We as fans, love Kevin and it's nice to see you describe what he is doing and actually show us with your own skills. Thanks for being awesome
Your reaction to Mitch’s megaphone moment was priceless! Great reaction as always!
I absolutely love this reaction!! It's refreshing to have a beatboxer who knows and is passionate about their stuff to put in input on Kevin's portion. There's a lot of singers out there who can comment on the other 4 but a lack of beatboxers to give context for Kevin. Kevin is my favourite member of the squad and I thought your constructive criticism was really insightful and added depth and alternatives. Your comment and example on the snare switch-up, for example, I thought was really interesting!
*YES WE ARE SOOO INTERESTED*
You are fantastic at your craft....A great reaction, great advice and I I hope you and Kevin have the opportunity to meet and share the love of what you are bringing to the awareness of beatboxing! I'm a huge fan of PTX and I am a big fan of yours and excited to meet you (through the magic of internet) and watch to see amazing moments ahead!
check out new Pentatonix cover that dropped last Wednesday - Blinding Lights by The Weeknd. It's an upbeat tempo song and Kevin is front and center, carrying that song with his beats
I second that recommendation! It's an amazing song!!!
Yes this song!
Congratulations!!! 👏 I I am so excited for you! I told you that you were good but I don't know anyting technical about what you're doing just what I hear and that vocal fry that you had going was blowing my mind! You deserve to be featured on that channel! Thank you for sharing that with us I am so excited for you! You have to just be thrilled right now! What awsome news for you to get when everything is bad news lately! Wow! 🎉 👏
Regarding the reaction, specifically the guitar solo..
Until just a few days ago I thought that they had not added any Distortion in the recording because Mitch goes from singing straight into the guitar solo using the same microphone he sings with when they perform it live. it sounds the same as the video to my untrained ears. HOWEVER, much to my chagrin, I saw an interview with Kevin a few days ago in which he started he'd had an idea that it would be great to use a certain thing to add a tiny bit of distortion to Mitch's voice for the video. I was really disappointed to hear that because I prefer that they keep it pure... but realistically I know that when people edit things they tweak it but Pentatonix likes recorded versions of their music to be as close as possible to how it's going to sound live as because acapella is all about being able to do it live. they don't want the fans to be disappointed in the live version compared to the recorded version when they pay money to come see them. So they try to avoid layering of the same voice over itself and doing too much editing because they can't duplicate that sound live with 5 voices on stage and no track playing in the background.
So, what you're saying about them using something for distortion I now know was what they actually did. and it was Kevin's idea.
I don't know what to say except they tried to stay as precious to this song as they could without changing it up because they said it is simply too Epic and they have too much respect for the song. They also said it was a very difficult song for an A Capella group and they put off doing this cover for years in spite of us fans constantly requesting they cover it. They consistently repeated that they wouldn't even attempt it unless they thought they could do it any justice out of respect. And I think they still apologize before they perform it live because it is a hard song for just five voices when there are so many intricacies and instrumentals in this epic EPIC song by Queen, and they have the utmost respect for that fabulous group and for Freddie (He is Mitch's Idol when it comes to male vocalists. His female vocal Idol is Rihanna.)
This is one of the last official videos they made before Avi left the group. Last bit was just an FYI.
I honestly like the sound of the snare that you were hoping he would have used near the end of the song. It's so interesting hearing a beatboxer talk about but Kevin's doing and give feedback because this is a first for us as fans. Most of us know some things about singing but we don't know anything about beatboxing and so Kevin gets left out of the conversation except to say how awesome he is but we don't have any point of reference as to what he's doing. Thank you for giving your input and giving an example because I appreciate the honesty and we did come to you asking you to listen to this and give your input so thank you!
We’re interested in anything PTX related! Your insight is unique. You have found an untapped market that could allow your channel to soar once word gets out! Congrats on the feature!
Congratulations!! :o) re: another beat boxer - We so seldom get reactions from other beatboxers, that I would be up for another beatboxer's reactions.
I didn’t get any sense of hate at all. Your insight and alternate interpretation was much appreciated.
Felicidades my friend on being featured! Thank you for the great reaction once again (your beatboxing came across very well). I don't remember if you said what part of Mexico you are in, but hope you are staying safe from the virus.
This was shot live on a residential street from about 11 PM to 6 AM. That’s why you see the cold fog from their mouths at times and the lane strip on the street. Also, you can see a short view of the lights from a house way in the background. Go get the Behind the Scenes video to see how it was shot.
Congratulations Reck! That's awesome to have your beatboxing talent recognized! Have to check that one out! And excited to have your friend. That is a megaphone that Mitch used but just for visual effects only for the MV, great to see a reaction from a beatboxer's perspective
You should definitely watch Kevin's solo projects! His cover of Down (by Marian Hill) and his cover of Sign of the Times (by Harry Styles) are my favorites.
That is awesome Reck about your feature video. Mitch does this live without the megaphone, and it is shocking. I was hoping you would comment on Kevin at that part too because it sounds to me like he is doing cymbals and drums. I'm sure you were distracted by Mitch but could you tell me what he's doing there? Maybe you and your friend could go back over it again. It will be great to have two beat boxers showing us bc that rarely happens with PTX. Congrats!
Your appreciation of PTX and the individual members is wonderful to see and hear! I absolutely love how you break down parts most reactors don't touch on much... beatboxing and bass. Your knowledge of music, percussion, and beatboxing gives unique insight on every song so far! Truly fantastic and educational! I would love to hear your thoughts on PTX's "Making Christmas". In interviews, Kevin mentioned he had no idea what he was going to do until the actual recording.. so it's pretty impromptu. I know that's a seasonal song but I would still love to see it.
Fun fact - Scott used to be the bass when they were a trio (Mitch, Scott, Kirstin).
Check out Adam Rupp of Home Free drum solo he’s there beat boxer twice world champion beat boxer.
As a beatbox enthusiast, you really need to check out Adam Rupp of Home Free. There are some "drum solo" videos of him doing his thing all by himself. For sheer versatility have a listen to Man of Constant Sorrow. His harmonica is other worldly.
I just discovered your channel and I’m blown away! You are an amazing beatboxer and I love hearing you show your talent, as well as teach us non beat boxers! Congratulations on your success and keep the reactions coming!
I love having a beatboxer critique.
Congratulations
Congrats on the Swissbeatbox Reck - with Mitch and the guitar sound...he uses the megaphone only for the video - it's a prop...he does it just with his vocals live.
Your best reaction this far!
Is nice to have a pro discussing the beatbox side of these song (which is brilliant).
I’ve watched so many reactions to PTX but have never watched any from the viewpoint of a beat boxer. Really great, thank you! You’re so talented.
Congratulations to you! Also, the couch or sofa is symbolic to Pentatonix, as most of their first videos had them sitting as they are in this video.
Your unique viewpoint as a beatboxer and drummer adds a layer to your reactions that I have not seen anywhere else. I love seeing someone discovering and enjoying some of the same music I love. Your channel gives strangers a chance to experience together the joy that great music brings and that’s a powerful thing. Keep it up and thanks for another great video.
Just subscribed to you man! I wish you all the best in your career 👍👍👍
Everything you say is an enhancement for p tx love your expertise ❤️
Not coming across as hate, no worries. You are a unique perspective and it's very cool to hear your thoughts and you are talking with a knowledge/skillset that many don't have. As Fans, we apreciate his talent and also appreciate the opinions of others who experience PTX with us. That's why we watch reactors ;) Thank you for your honesty and perspective
I’m obsessed with your reactions!! I have listened to PTX do Bohemian Rhapsody 100 times and have watched dozens of reaction videos but yours is my favorite! I learned more from yours than all the others. I’m a singer so the others don’t teach me anything but I know nothing about beatboxing. I would have to agree with you on the change up that you did! It did sound better! You are VERY talented!!
Thank you so much!! Love this comments 😄
Que bueno que regresaste!
I would recommend listening to Kevin beatboxing with his cello. Also, the group got all together for the first time when competing in The Sing-off 2011. You get to really experience Kevin and Avi being a substantial reason why they won.
I love your reactions. Kevin is so freaking talented and doesnt get the recognition he so deserves.
Found your reactions while on a rabbit trail through RUclips this weekend. It's great to see reactions from the beatboxer point of view. Most of the others just focus on the voice parts.
Holycr... you managed ti elevate a PTX cover!! You REALLY had a point in changing up that sound!! 👏👏
Home free man of constant sorrow
Congratulations ! I like your beatboxing snare suggestion. Great reaction to a fantastic song !
I think it’s awesome that you point out how amazing Kevin is, because you don’t always hear that from reactors. Also I think you’re just as good as Kevin is!
You should check out Adam Rupp in Home Free. He is a very talented beatboxer.
Woww!! Thank you so much for taking my suggestion and reacting to it! It was so nice to see you add your suggestion! I loved your version! Hope Kevin will see this.
Yes, Mitch is crazy amazing!! Would love having your friend over!!!!
Would you please react to dance of the sugar plum fairy and gold by pentatonix? Pllleeeeaaaasseeeee?? They got their second Grammy for dance of the sugar plum fairy.
Congrats on the feature on SBX! I'll go check it out!
THX for your comments! If I remember correctly in the listening party for the new EP Kevin talks about not thinking his other snare-sound being good enough, that's why he hardly ever uses it - but I do not know much about beat boxing so I might be wrong here and mix things up ...
Congrats. Well deserved recognition. I respect you talent and opinion and if your opinion is another opinion would be good......then yeah. Bring in your friend and lets hear it !
I agree! And if you and your friend give us differing opinions or different examples - yes please!
I love hearing your beat box expertise and ideas.
congratulations Reck!!
Congratulations! ❤️❤️ Thanks for your videos! Make more 😊😊
Even without megafone Mitch nailed it that part is so good i love Mitch so much 💕
Huge huge fan of yours. Love from South Africa. You are AMAZING!!!!!!!!
Congratulations man! That's truly awesome. Can you react to some of Pentatonix Evolution series? Ariana Grande and Rihanna are some personal favorites . But they're all amazing
Muchas felicidades!!
OMG enjoyed seeing you enjoy and analyze Bohemian Rapsody. You are great and enjoyed that Soo much. Very pleasant to watch! You’re the tops.
You mentioned bringing a friend beatboxer on... we will enjoy Anything you do/Bring it on, one and all ideas you have.
I've seen you comment almost all my videos jajaj thank you!
I have plans to record tomorrow and if everything goes alright, there's video for tomorrow night but don't tell anyone 🙊
It's a surprise 🤔
@@Xureck23 Hope I’m not overdoing it! But am classically trained and enjoy your Genre Soo much. Rather obsessed I suppose. No one is like you.... I can’t Believe you answered me, feeling rather priveledged now!!
@@bettymccarthy4904 - I'm always reading comments, but it's kinda difficult to respond to everyone and now I have some time to do it, so here we are hahah
You're classical trained, that's impressive! Seriously, thanks for your support
Hey, I’m sure you’re too busy to answer many people. Thus why I was so surprised! Yes, I was trained 13 years in classical piano by Mrs. Francis which traveled world wide with the famous Van Clyburne prior to his death a few years ago now. My mind is mostly classical and that’s why I find your talents so extremely interesting. Of course I’m also trained in the flute and piccolo. Interesting variety. At one point I played the Ukalale. Strange history.
Excited to see yours and Mike's take on more PTX and Home Free beatboxers. Keep It Comin'.
Hey man! You may want to check any song from the group ‘Home Free’... also please check the live performances of Pentatonix in the Sing-Off competitions... thanks!
you are really a master in BB analyzing performances just by hearing. Great!!!
Hello everyone.....great video bud
Hi Sean 😊
@@JoSedunary Hey Jo
You are talented AF and a good dude man and deserve the recognition! Keep ripping.
@@Xureck23 Absolutely man!
Wow! You are Amazing! I listen to PXT all the time. I really enjoy the whole experience. Ive actually got deeper into b boxing recently and love it....
Kevin has his own channel and watching him do his thing is incredibly impressive. Beatboxing. Playing all instruments. Singing. Its powerful. Hes very humble and kind. I have no doubt he would appreciate you as well. His channel is - kevin olusola
Definitely look forward to hearing the Contemporary collaborate with you. Music appreciation absolutely yes! You open a new window on music and learning for me! Thank you! :-)
“That’s me” he says, as if we could mistake that hair for anyone else!
You are wonderful. I love your explanations of beatboxing. You are great yourself!!!
Enjoying your reactions!
OMG!!! You're amazing!!! 👏👏👏👏
Congratulations! Continued success with your beatboxing. Very happy for you. Love your reaction videos.🤗 your comments are right on. I’m a diehard Pentaholic but your comments make a lot of sense. I’m always amazed to see and hear Kevin go from singing to beatboxing and yes, they are very entertaining. By the way, I love Kevin’s latin rhythms in PTX cover of Havana. His bongos sound so real! Enjoy!
Welp if Kevin ever decides to leave Pentatonix, we have found the replacement! :)
Your analyses are really nice. Going to drop a subscribe.
As for suggestions, I'd like to make mention a band called Home Free (country a cappella). Adam Rupp, their beatboxer, is insane, and nicely rivals Kevin. I'd suggest Man Of Constant Sorrow, Elvira, or Ring Of Fire (which has Avi in it).
Kevin’s k-snare is so clean it sounds like a drum machine. I agree that the PF snare would have brought a bit more of that “rock” texture to this arrangement
Reach out to Kevin on social media, man. I'm sure he would love to hear what you have to say about the technical side of the craft. When he was on the show they won, The Sing Off, he was known for colabing with other beatboxers, jamming with them, learning from them, as well as teaching what he knew. So, yeah, don't feel as though you can't reach out to him.
Also, congrats on your shout out. I'm not much into the beatbox community, but I can tell from how amped you were about it that it means a lot. You deserve recognition, that's for certain. I know that making and posting videos on here isn't easy, that it's a lot of work, especially if you have anything else going on in your life.
I love hearing how great and amazing Pentatonix is, and we fans of their hear it quite a bit. I enjoy hearing, almost as much, the little things that could have made the performance better. The little flaws that I might not have noticed until someone with skills I don't have points them out to me. So, if you have an opinion on technique please never be afraid to give it. I may not agree, but I, for one, will never get mad at your for having it. ( In this case though, hearing you beatboxing with the song was freakin awesome!!!! )
I'm heading off to check out the video of you on Swiss just as soon as I finish this comment. Great, great video, wonderful host, and a really fun time.
Oh!! I would love to meet your friend, Mike. I can't wait to hear what the two of you have to say about whichever video you decide to react to together.
I love ur passion 4 🎶 & ur so talented so Congratulations on realizing ur Dream...U got a long future ahead in 🎶!👏🏻✌🏼💞
congratulations on your success!
if i can suggest you to listen and do analysis of the songs, i suggest you "Stay", "See Through", "Come along", a solo covers of Kevin "Down", "As long as you love me", "Friends" ;) Keep it up, great reaction, great analysis. Cheers bro ! :)
See through is insane with the beatboxing...one of my favs!
You are really fantastic. I finally understand how they are doing it now.
React to their cover of CAN'T HOLD US! Avi and Kevin are incredible on that one.
Oh hell yeah! Those octave fry flips are amazing! Did you submit a wildcard for 2020? If not, you should for next year! Ooh, very nice lip roll at the end there, too.
Awesome reaction! Very educational.
Please react to the whole of Pentatonix's new album, Home. I would love to watch like a 20min video of you analysing it!!!
Thank you for your commentary! I love your reactions.
I think they were being very very careful with this song, it is so iconic. I appreciate hearing your feedback, I didn't hear any hate!
If you want to dig into Kevin's beatboxing, their Evolution Of videos are great (lots of transitions & variety because they do 10-20 songs in a row). Daft Punk is great, New RulesxAre You That Somebody, Problem...lots of other stuff too, but those are the ones I have been thinking of recently. (Ariana Grande is my favorite of the Evolution videos, but every one has its champion).
I would love to hear a pair of you dig into the beatboxing aspect. It might be worth crowd-sourcing for what people think are the richest songs in terms of beatboxing.
You should check out Kevin's solo work too!! "Sign of the Times" is my favorite, but he does amazingly with all of it..!
Sign of the Times is great (my second fave of his KOvers), but I think the best from a beatboxing perspective would be Down.
You should do blinding lights, by PTX. Its a recent on that I just adore!
Loved your shoutout on swissbeatbox 🔥🔥
Home Free's Adam Rupp drumb solo. Do it.
You should check out Kevin Olusola in a solo recording(video) of Down. It is amazing! He is very talented, he plays the cello too!
Wow ur Are an amazing beatboxer it sounded so cool
Mccoy TV is also a beatboxer that has done reactions to Pentatonix. He's from the Philippines.
Fascinating.
Hey bro, eres genial! Ojala llegues muy lejos, ya he visto todos tus videos en este canal, me encantaron. Porfa, reacciona a Perfume Medley, es una joya. Otro es Can't hold us, un clásico de ellos. Saludos desde Rep. Dominicana.
Very impressive! (SwissBeatbox) Congratulations!!! Thank you also for reacting to Bohemian Rhapsody 😊 Megaphone.. it's been commented that Mitch sounds the same without the megaphone in live performances so that it was probably just a prop in the video...
Hi, I’m from pachuca!!!! Nice finding you here!
wow. you just explained to me why I always thought it sounded the tiniest bit off. more flat, to my ears. sincerely thank you!
so glad I stumbled over your channel.
cover songs of PTX I think you'd enjoy would be Come Along, White Winter Hymnal, Joy To The World (I know it sounds silly, but it's a fun one!), Where Are U Now, and last but not least New Rules x Are You That Somebody.
in the last song they have a new member (sorry if I've spoiled anything by saying that!).
