We spoke with the top finishers right after their races, featuring: Paula Findlay (1st), Gustav Iden (1st), Anne Haug (2nd), Laura Philipp (3rd), Matt Hanson (2nd), George Goodwin (3rd), Lionel Sanders (4th), Sam Long (8th), and Timothy O'Donnell (16th, but number 1 in Izzy's heart).

The Daytona Challenge race format, venue, incredible field(!) and professional coverage reignited the sport of triathlon. Watched, and loved every second of both events - and can't wait for more advancements from the PTO. Special shoutout to Paula Findlay for a career changing performance eh.
the biggest shock for me was watching Matt Hanson maintain that running form (or lack-thereof) for the entire run leg. makes Lionel look smooth, but whatever gets the job done - props for a big 2nd place finish.

Well not really Mattie is known as a runner, he woun Boulder last year with a strong run
Sam Long is just the best... what a hoot he is! The passion, the ambition, the wackiness - love it!
Yo...yo...yo..."I want to be the best in the world". Sums up Sam's future - extremely bright! To see him react to the crowd is extremely refreshing. Well done Sam, I could have watched you race all day long. 2021 is going to be a great year for you.

Would have loved to see Luis v Iden if Luis didn't receive the 2-minute penalty

The Haug penalty I felt was unnecessary. Totally different than Luis. I love Luis, but he was violating the draft rule for a long long time before the officials flagged him for it. Paula wasn’t doing that...I think she deserved leniency.
Sam Long: Love him. He’s having fun and is present in the moment.
Iden: the dude is brash and rubs me the wrong way (from other interviews) but he is a straight up baller. He backs up his talk, and takes no prisoners. Respect that.
Lionel: my fav by far. He’s loves the battle, loves the pain, and gives respect to everyone. Happy he finished 4th.
TO: I thought he had a shot until toward the end of lap 2 on the run. He has the wheels, just didn’t pan out today.
I want to see more of this format. Highly entertaining. I’d love to see more data like HR and Power, but I realize that may be a really tall order.
Edit: Haug deserved leniency.
