I bought my son one of those when he was 15 but not that brand for $2400.00. In Michigan you can drive them at 15 years old. He is now 22 years old and even though he got a car and drivers license at 16 he still rides that thing. Goes to work all week on five bucks worth of gas and saves on parking. He loves it.

Jay this was practically how every 16 year old in the UK got their first wheels on what were called sixteener mopeds. The law stated that they were no more than 50 cc and could be pedal driven. The designs got very sophisticated with high water marks being the Yamaha FS1E, Suzuki AP 50, Fantic Cabellero, and the Exotic Gitane Champione. Kids being kids we also learned to tune and bug bore kits soon appeared some legendary tuners cut their teeth on them. The government cracked down and decreed that the 'sixteeners' acquire fixed foot pedals and be limited to 30Mph instead of the more typical 50mph. The market died as kids just waited until they could drive a car at 17. Fun while it lasted and now the old bikes are cult collectors items. Check it out

+Audiwan Kenobi Partially cause it was custom, but they do have cheap ones that are available on their sites. Starting at $1500 for the DIY, to $2400 for the classic model.
During the corona shutdown I took my 1964 Schwinn Typhoon bicycle and installed the china engine kit. Its been a blast cruising around Simi Valley with this bike.
+Razorfish Good luck finding one of these engines with throttle cables, twist grips, clutch included, gas tank, rear sprocket and chain for $100. It's more like $300 sourced directly from China if you're not a manufacturer for the 4-stroke engines. Plus you have to buy the bike and do all of the labor putting it together. These bikes have integral frame tanks and the like, so it's not like they just took a Chinese beach cruiser and stuck a Chinese engine on there, they put some work into them and they're probably more reliable than those kits. That said, $6k is a little over the top. $1400 isn't outlandish though, especially considering that there are quite a few bicycles that cost more than that and still require man power.
In 1959 I was a Freshman in HS. Kids were coming to school with Mo-Peds Ordered them from a Sears or Wards catalog ...Man! I wanted one so much but it never happened.
Very nice bikes well done-these are a nice way to get around when you dont have a lot of money to spend buying a car. I went and bought on of the same engines these guys use in this video and its a beautiful little engine-49cc Overhead valve and its a Chinese made licenced copy of a Honda so you cant go wrong getting one of those engines the engine I got only cost $203 USD and came complete with a self contained fuel tank, muffler, centrifugal clutch and gerabox being a 4 stroke its very easy to start economical on fuel. There are some very nice products out there. Well done guys.
"You can't get a ticket, 'cos you can't speed". I grew up riding 50 ccm's and boy could they be modified. In Denmark one hp was the limit. The last one I rode (an Italien Fantic) had 13 and practically only airbrakes. I even tried attaching register carburetors, but then I lost interest and picked up on motocross (dirt bikes). I'm sure these engines, although Chinese, could be made a lot more powerful without catching the eye of the Law. First thing I would do though, was to replace the lawn-mover starter with something else. That a real turn-off.
UPDATE, 2022. Phantom Bikes appears to no longer offer gas engines, but they DO have some expensive e-bikes. If you're seeing this now, Phatmoto has some great gas-powered bikes that only cost $1000. YT videos show people are pretty happy with them. Look them up if you're interested.
@@dougcox4310 Yeah, me too. That's when I started looking around. Those bolt-on bike engine kits look kinda sketchy to me. Too many variables on what bike you have and if everything fits right. I'm just about sold on the Phatmoto Rover. You still have to do partial assembly yourself, but everything is built to fit together, and the assembly videos I looked at show that it's reasonably simple to assemble. Jackshaft built into the frame, Shimano 7-Speed pedal gears, front suspension, heavy duty clutch, front and rear disk brakes, and it's a 4 stroke, so no mixing gas and oil. Pretty solid package for $1000.
I'd rather buy a used bicycle and fit a second hand gas turbine to it. Still cheaper overall and a hell of a lot faster, while still being technically under 50cc.
I'd say put some beefier tires on it and aim for 50mph that's fast enough for most interstates if you stay in the right lane lol most have a minimum of around 45-50 even if the max is 65-70... But of course the problem is the engine size limits... Technology is improving very fast though so 50mph probably wouldn't be unrealistic now two years later lol.
The max I've seen on a motorized bicycle 49cc in 52MPH. I have one of those and I maxed 43MPH. Still working on it with racing parts. Will keep posted.
I have a Japanese made Tanaka pf4000 40cc 2 stroke with a gates Kevlar belt drive. It doesn't look as cool but it's damn reliable & hits 38 mph GPS verified. It gets about 1 mile per oz of gas bout 130 MPG.
My friend has one of these they are awesome , thanks for mention that I can drive something with 49cc on the road gotta check the rules so I can drive Honda z50
I have a 2013 Bashan and I love it! It has the look of the original Honda 50 but with a more modern flair. A 4-speed gearbox, centrifugal clutch, and 17" spoked wheels make it more of a 49cc motorcycle than a "moped". No bicycle pedals here, proper foot pegs instead. The engine is a Chinese copy of the time-tested Honda mill and has plenty of torque for taking on those pesky freeway overpasses with no problem. It's just too much fun for not a lot of money. Just be mindful of traffic, obey the rules of the road and you are good to go!
+Jerry Voigt Then make one and stop whining, geesh this whole US thing has blown over. I get it, the dog gets it, his twice removed cousin, Lenny the car guy, gets it. But if there's no alternative to a compact cheap engine then what is the guys supposed to do? Get himself in to a stupid deal where he makes the whole engine down up, then suffer years of call backs and parts demands? That's how you get yourself broke. The history of vehicles is riddled with such examples, automotive perfection, no cut backs..the end result? Ultimate failure, bankruptcy, alcohol, death. So as long as the frames and the rest of the parts are up to his words it's ok.~ He's doing it right, is the engine any good? For the weight and speed it'll do. Anyone who can be bothered to pay 6000 on one (this model, because i hear the other are cheaper) can spend the time to track down a replacement that makes them happy with core national values.
+Face less haha, yeah. Something along the lines of a 24hp Briggs and Stratton Vangard Vtwin. TBH id love to make a mini-chopper powered with one, forced lube, oodles of torque and they sound awesome ;-)
A couple years ago at the Barber Vintage Festival 2013, there was a group of guys with very similar bikes. Can't remember their name, maybe this is the same company. I think theirs were 2 strokes. But I will always remember the parade lap that one of them decided to take the yellow Cyclone look alike bike on. From Ace Corner you could hear him bog down coming up the hill, then pass by in full tuck trying to catch up with everyone else down the backside of the hill. I think we had as much fun watching as he had riding.
Back in China we just pop these engines on normal bicycles and take off, can cost as little as 200 chinese yuan and won't be more than 1000 depending on what you buy. So it's like 30-150 usd.
they look fun but a bicycle with a chinese motor shouldn't be worth $6,000 you can get a real motorcycle with that money a brand new 300 or a used 600 or 1000
+Warmonkey1220 Agreed, its a cruiser with a Chinese 49cc motor. No clue why the one Jay was riding was $6000. I would pay maybe 1250 for it. Like you said you could buy an actual motorcycle for $6000
+Warmonkey1220 So the addition of a Chinese motor, depreciates the price? Dude, your logic makes no sense. You pay the craftsmanship, and i'm pretty sure that the engine isn't stock. I've heard those shite engines, they sound like a band of mother in laws chattering. I wouldn't pay 6000 for either, but not because i can't appreciate the work put in to the frame. Also, any proper bike you buy for 6000 is a second hand. Good bikes go 10k up and that's the starter price.
+aserta you can buy a brand new yamaha r3 a 300cc sport bike for $5,500 brand new from a dealership and a 300cc is a proper bike it might not be a super sport but its a proper bike
I built one with home made jackshaft kit. I spended around $250. Here in Brazil no licence plate required, only driver licence, mirror, lights... It's cheap to daily ride and low distances because gas, obligatory insurance and license are expensive here
Just about every JLG video I see has people voting thumbs down. What's not to like about this video? Sure if someone wants to buy a junker bike and a Harbor Freight motor, they can save money, but so what. This guy is making cool little mopeds for those who might just want to putt around. I loved the sound! There was a designer guy in L.A. who made cool bespoke mopeds, but I can't seem to find him anymore--the guy who played Dr. House on TV (Hugh Laurie) had one.
So in the USA bikes under 50cc don't need license and registration? In Italy my 49cc Vespa need license, registration, insurance and you can drive it at 14.
John Capidecallu i live in Quebec city and it’s the same rules like you said for the province of Quebec, not sure for other ones in Canada, but, if you got your driver license for a car, you can drive a 49cc bike but it needs to be automatic transmission.
Seeing as you can buy the kit version of the most basic version of a Phantom Bike thru Bikeberry.com for around $1500, a fully ready version for $2100 is not outlandish.
I love that you have begun to touch on the very small displacement cycles, like some of the motorized bicycle ideas here. I would especially love to see some of the truly performance oriented machines, that can do pretty incredible things with very small displacements. ...But Jay, please man, can you feature some vintage European 2-cycle mopeds? Puch, Peugeot, Motobecane/MBK, onto the modern Solex racers, and the Sachs machines, or Kreidlers, ....Or ALL THE ITALIAN machines (See what I did there, man? ;)) All the ones with the Minarelli engines, or Morini engines..... Or how about the Piaggios? (no, not the Scooters! ..the Grande's or Ciao's.....you know, the mopeds....The REAL mopeds...) The list of moped, and moped engine manufacturers this world has seen, is near endless.... Especially around Europe, 30 years ago, and back... So many more I would love to have added here, but to be honest, there were just too many companies to type here, without using a 1000 words... ;) Some proper vintage mopeds now Jay? Please? :) Show the racing mopeds...the cruising mopeds..... Heck, MOPEDS FOR EVERYONE!!!! ...Just make sure they are using the finest synthetic 2-cycle oil, these days... ;)
My brother saw Jay Leno in Rhode Island and recognized him but didn't say anything, and before they passed each other, Jay Leno reaches out for a handshake and says "Hi how are you?"
Zero 0 lol. That will last about 5 mins before you bin it. Much better to start on a 600 then get a bigger bike once you have a bit oif experience. 600s are plenty fast enough to have fun on but they are still easy to handle.
Jay Leno at his BEST!!! One day hes reviewing and driving a million dollar sports car and the next a 2000.00 custom scooter and promoting the small guy...Hes such a great guy...Support his channel and sub and thumbs up his videos. It Lets him know that we like the content and it passes the word to others to enjoy it too. GREAT WORK JAY!!!
Love these kinda bikes, not sure about the price, but before I had my license I took that route with 50cc two strokes. The gulf paintjob looks fantastic.
I totally agree I had a 1984 Honda aero80 n I drove it for years with my girlfriend on the back along the lake front and through the twisting turns through Grant park were amazing on a summer day to cool off. I used to have Harley riders pull up beside me to see how fast I was going and say hi and ask Bout my moped lol I had the carb set just right and it would do 45-50mph. Sadly sold it a few years back to pay rent. I miss it all the time. Such a reliable 2stroke motor that just wanted to go and go. I originally bought it for $500 from a ex coworker that lived in the neighborhood so I drove by it for days constantly thinking bout how much fun it would be. I had a 91 towncar and gas was killing me with that boat of a car. I needed to balance out my gas consumption. I was living in oak creek Wisconsin riding to college downtown Milwaukee. A journey on the moped! I'd fly around Honda sprees n metropolitans n the ruckus. I liked the aero cus I'd put my feet on the passenger pegs to get the ride position feel of a motorcycle. Trying to take a corner at high speed with your feet in front of you isn't comfortable compared to feet on the side pegs. 80cc shouldn't need a license either. definitely keeps up or passes traffic compared to 50cc
my motorized bike with all performance parts, with a engine rebuild, and bike it self cost me around 500 bucks over the past 2 years. its a fun toy and you get free parking everywhere. or might as well get a honda grom. get around the same mpg.
These look like Felt Cruisers.. pretty cool. I have an Electra Straight 8 sitting about in my garage not earning its keep, I think it'll be awesome to have a motor on it..
Actually these are a motor assisted bicycles if under 50cc and can be pedaled. They are NOT motorized, they are not motor vehicles, not a moped, not a scooter, not a motor cycle. They are a bicycle with motor assist... These are bicycles with a motor to assist you with pedaling. A motor assisted bicycle.
I wonder why bikes like these aren't more popular? I mean you'd expect that people not making a lot of money would be scooping these up like crazy. Albeit not necessarily at 1500+. My uncle got a chinese motor kit for his bike for like 100 bucks, but it was just for farting around.
+youtubasoarus I think you'll start seeing a lot more electric versions of these bikes as the battery technology improves and the price comes down a bit more.
Vehicles like this have been pretty popular here in the Netherlands for decades, though sadly scooters have taken over the market. Also, registration and a special license are required here.
You can actually order 80cc motors off of EBay for less than $100 and have it put on your bike for between $100 - $300 in Detroit. No license required.
Just stupid! For that price you can get a low mileage Honda 50 or 70cc. Sure you need a license but you'd be an idiot to put this death trap together and give it to a kid! I spent over a year hassling a young co-worker to give up his motorcycle and get a car! Sadly, he turned left and lady did't stop for red light! 23 and recent engineering degree had him prepared for a good life ahead... instead parents had to come out from midwest to arrange body shipped back to his hometown! I rode 70cc Honda to/from UCLA 1st semester, one near miss but woman simply said, when I caught up with her at light), "SORRY, I DIDN'T SEE YOU!". SO, YOU ARE DEAD AND SHE MIGHT NOT EVEN STOP... UNAWARE SHE KILLED YOU!!
Yeah after a lot of near misses on a motorcycle I gave the motorcycle license up and sold the bike . I realize that every day riding them the clock ticks away till you get hit by car car and skid under a Mack truck and become road kill .
it is because the do not have a muffler i have a honda c50 and the muffler is rotted and it sound like it is the end of the world when you open the gas
For 6000$ the Chinese motor is a total dealbreaker. You can get other brands for as low as 2k flat (obviously chinese made, but this man's bike is made in China and assembled in the US so who cares). This guy's one chance at success with such a price was to go fully American or European made, and he failed.
I had a moped during high school in the 70s, would start up by peddling. There's no transmission, what if you incorporated some bicycle gearing? The lesson from this video, it's not too difficult to build your own.
actually Jay, based on the average standard of 1hp produced for every 32.5cc's, 49cc's is approximately 1.5 hp not 3-4 hp. 4 hp would be about 125cc, that standard is why the 6.5hp predator engine is rated at 212cc!!!
+Joe Barbaro I´m from Spain.Years ago Italian scooters rules as your first vehicle . Mine whas a Gilera Runner 50 cc,swapped cylinder to 70cc, 19 Del Orto Carb and some tweaks in the clutch...120 kmh easily, but really poor fuel economy...Old times!!!!
+Jose Moreno Porras Nice. Had a Honda SFX with Malossi MHR Replica kit, 21mm dellorto, Malossi variomatic, Simonini TT exhaust, Kundo crankshaft, Italy kit ECU and probably some more things i forgot Did around 105-110 km/h because stock gearing, but barely touching the throttle would almost make it flip backwards lol. Was great fun until police started to crack down on modified scooters, and now they have to use license plates.

Bill Bradsky
Check ebay for the whole kit. Actually the average is more like $110.
+ithepatrick $1400 start price... Would much rather have one of these than a scooter for the same price! I think that's good value.
Those are the coolest mopeds I have ever seen. They remind me of those original Indians and Harleys. I'd love to have one.
"I came up with the idea of building a motorised bicycle.", no not really.
Seán O'Nilbud You hit the nail on the head.
In 1959 I was a Freshman in HS. Kids were coming to school with Mo-Peds Ordered them from a Sears or Wards catalog ...Man! I wanted one so much but it never happened.
Looks like good clean motor-cycling fun!
Well, not clean if 2 stroke engines
The choice of music for riding the bikes are hilarious!
I actually really like the sound of these, its quite surprising how nice the motor is.
Well, maybe you can get the 1967 Suzuki 50 cc triple that made 19 horsepower. That would get a bike going real good.
WHAT ? Nice to see him riding, smiling, and laughing. When is he NOT ? The coolest guy EVER !
awesome.. i love um
That's great Jay promotes small business. Fun= smiles!
“It’s ok we’ll let it slide this time” lol
Thanks Jay, you put a smile on my face.
when jay leno posts a video at 11 pm
+Mason Janik its 12 am
+JohnsGamingChannel “JohnGamingChannel” 1 different time zones
+JohnsGamingChannel “JohnGamingChannel” 1 It's that time here too, but Jay lives out in Cali. So it's 9:16pm there right now.
im in florida
+Mason Janik Well, Jay was the king of late-night TV, and so it goes with late-night youtube!
Thought this video was cool, was disappointed when I looked up the company and saw they only sell e-bikes now
@@dougcox4310 Yeah, me too.
Least feared motorcycle gang ever.
Motorized bikes are becoming very popular where I'm at. I'd like to get my hands on a custom one like this
I'd rather buy a used bicycle and fit a second hand gas turbine to it. Still cheaper overall and a hell of a lot faster, while still being technically under 50cc.
If I knew about this 8 years ago I would have built one. Great way to get around when you're in high school or college
45MPH would be a perfect top speed for NYC traffic. 55 would be nice also but might be too fast for it
I'd say put some beefier tires on it and aim for 50mph that's fast enough for most interstates if you stay in the right lane lol most have a minimum of around 45-50 even if the max is 65-70... But of course the problem is the engine size limits... Technology is improving very fast though so 50mph probably wouldn't be unrealistic now two years later lol.
put a 6.5hp motor w/a tourque conveter some brakes & lights & go register it as the cops can take your bike in nyc if its not legal & runs on gas
There are two stroke engines capable of going 50. I got mine to go 48
I’m
The max I've seen on a motorized bicycle 49cc in 52MPH. I have one of those and I maxed 43MPH. Still working on it with racing parts. Will keep posted.
Nice to see Jay doing a vid on motorized bikes. I'm building one (with shift kit) from a Mongoose Dolomite. Gonna be sweet!
looks interesting. wonder if you could get a small turbo for it to up the speed.
I don't think the engine could even spool the turbine! XD
But Nitrous...
+acousticbruiser19 nos might blow the little engine. You'd have to go real low with the shot. Still an interesting idea haha
+acousticbruiser19 have you never seen a pit bike turbo?
***** Actually, no. What's a pit bike?
+acousticbruiser19 a honda trail 50 would be considered a pit bike.
I have a Japanese made Tanaka pf4000 40cc 2 stroke with a gates Kevlar belt drive.
It doesn't look as cool but it's damn reliable & hits 38 mph GPS verified. It gets about 1 mile per oz of gas bout 130 MPG.
My friend has one of these they are awesome , thanks for mention that I can drive something with 49cc on the road gotta check the rules so I can drive Honda z50
if it goes over 20 mph you need a moped license and registration. www.dmv.org/ca-california/other-types.php
Yeah but I live in Illinois so it might be different but thank you I appreciate it
+Sean Smile Nobody likes tickets. :)
I'd recommend checking out your local state laws. It's likely very similar.
www.dmv.org/il-illinois/other-types.php. I think you only need a license for it
i belive the no license has to do with it being a pedal bike with a motor vs it being a motor bike.
Just be mindful of traffic, obey the rules of the road and you are good to go!
just need to replace the motor with a good ol Briggs & Stratton
So as long as the frames and the rest of the parts are up to his words it's ok.~
He's doing it right, is the engine any good?
I love the music playing during the ride!
they look fun but a bicycle with a chinese motor shouldn't be worth $6,000 you can get a real motorcycle with that money a brand new 300 or a used 600 or 1000
Professional road bikes cost up to $12k and those don't have motors. Just something to keep in mind.
I bought TWO 1982 Honda cb750 ' s for $1300.
It's cheap to daily ride and low distances because gas, obligatory insurance and license are expensive here
It's more fun to ride a slow vehicle fast than it is to ride a fast vehicle slow!
That's why fat chicks are popular
Jay's face, makes the helmet look almost perfectly round. He really fills that thing out. :)
Jay was like "$6,000".......great hahhhhahaaa
Just about every JLG video I see has people voting thumbs down. What's not to like about this video? Sure if someone wants to buy a junker bike and a Harbor Freight motor, they can save money, but so what. This guy is making cool little mopeds for those who might just want to putt around. I loved the sound! There was a designer guy in L.A. who made cool bespoke mopeds, but I can't seem to find him anymore--the guy who played Dr. House on TV (Hugh Laurie) had one.
How many pair of shirts and jeans do you have?
VuurwerkCrewDeurne™
Leno stays repping 1978
Sweet jesus hahah, He's insane.. I think his whole closet is full of denim shirts..
Jay leno is living the life! that hair tho. haha great career, he deserves a great retirement.
with math skills like that he never would have became an engineer!
John knows his stuff. Good job brother😎👍
What about putting a Predator engine from Harbor freight in a bike frame and sell That for 4 grand?
Jay Leno always WINS !
So in the USA bikes under 50cc don't need license and registration? In Italy my 49cc Vespa need license, registration, insurance and you can drive it at 14.
+John Capidecallu Some require all that, some don't. Depends entirely on the state laws.
OK thanks!
John Capidecallu i live in Quebec city and it’s the same rules like you said for the province of Quebec, not sure for other ones in Canada, but, if you got your driver license for a car, you can drive a 49cc bike but it needs to be automatic transmission.
Only some states. Each state has its own vehicle laws.
In state of Kansas you don't need a license for these types of bikes
It's all about having fun. isn't it? 2 wheeles and an engine = smile on your face.
Seeing as you can buy the kit version of the most basic version of a Phantom Bike thru Bikeberry.com for around $1500, a fully ready version for $2100 is not outlandish.
Man! I love this! Really did love the GT 40 model.
Could buy a Worksman Bike (NY) and a real good electric retrofit for a fraction of the price and still USA Made.
So many more I would love to have added here, but to be honest, there were just too many companies to type here, without using a 1000 words... ;)
Some proper vintage mopeds now Jay? Please? :) Show the racing mopeds...the cruising mopeds..... Heck, MOPEDS FOR EVERYONE!!!! ...Just make sure they are using the finest synthetic 2-cycle oil, these days... ;)
The 1960's moped re-invented!
It really is just a moped
My brother saw Jay Leno in Rhode Island and recognized him but didn't say anything, and before they passed each other, Jay Leno reaches out for a handshake and says "Hi how are you?"
I would rather spend 6k on a newish GSXR. lol I did in fact.
Zero 0 lol. That will last about 5 mins before you bin it. Much better to start on a 600 then get a bigger bike once you have a bit oif experience. 600s are plenty fast enough to have fun on but they are still easy to handle.
i paid less than 6k for my 2004 Sportster 883 with 15k miles on it. So yeah, rather have it than a 6k 35mph bicycle.
Congrats. You missed the point.
@7:40 is that Jay singing?!?
Amesie's Automotive Corner HAHAHAHAHAHA
Love these kinda bikes, not sure about the price, but before I had my license I took that route with 50cc two strokes. The gulf paintjob looks fantastic.
I wish they would bump the legal amount up to 80cc it would be a lot safer since they could keep up with faster moving traffic
Yup.
125cc Imo, but just get a learners permit for a scooter or low powered bike.. super easy to do.
+Jesse Tarnowski yea I have a Yamaha pw80 and out of everything I have its the most reliable and it can pass traffic no problem
Here in Kansas with the bikes shown you don't have to have a license you have to be under 150 cc
Right on, Jay and thank you Jiffy Lube for being Jay's sponsor
LOL for a Chinese motor!?! People don't make this guy rich, build your own for a third or a fourth of the price!!!!!!
Real Estate agent man.
yep only around 500 plus minus
my motorized bike with all performance parts, with a engine rebuild, and bike it self cost me around 500 bucks over the past 2 years. its a fun toy and you get free parking everywhere. or might as well get a honda grom. get around the same mpg.
*quarter*
I mean they’re still pretty cool though for the looks and knowing he made them custom
+grabir01
You are incorrect.
even when I think I am wrong I am usually correct.
.
I ride mine around I don't care about what the police have to say
Thanks for the Video Jay.... nice to see Justin
I think what this guy did was buy those 49cc bicycle engines off eBay
Shyzah
No
are you special ed?
Shyzah is something bothering you?
your stupidity is bother me very very very much.
Shyzah what stupidly exactly? I only wrote a comment.
Thanks for the videos Jay. I like looking at cars from a 3rd angle.
It's the price. A lot of money for a small bike with poor resale value.
+1 on starting out with small bikes. Best way to become a proficient rider.
You can actually order 80cc motors off of EBay for less than $100 and have it put on your bike for between $100 - $300 in Detroit. No license required.
Nice looking bike. First thing I'd do though is take off the header tape because I don't like rust rotting through metal.
$6000 for this piece of junk? Did I hear correctly?
My Suzuki SV650S cost less than that brand new in 2001. It only got 50 mpg but it nearly does 130 mph.
Thank you Jay for an entertaining segment.
They sound awesome. Not even 50cc!
it is because the do not have a muffler i have a honda c50 and the muffler is rotted and it sound like it is the end of the world when you open the gas
Zaxaris Petixos 😂😂😂
That was pretting nice of Leno to evaluate these bikes for this guy. Jay leno is about the only holly wood person I like, like him more now.
For 6000$ the Chinese motor is a total dealbreaker. You can get other brands for as low as 2k flat (obviously chinese made, but this man's bike is made in China and assembled in the US so who cares). This guy's one chance at success with such a price was to go fully American or European made, and he failed.
dont buy the 6k bike
I had a moped during high school in the 70s, would start up by peddling. There's no transmission, what if you incorporated some bicycle gearing?
The lesson from this video, it's not too difficult to build your own.
i wouldn't pay that much way too expensive!!
Great paint jobs and styling. Very nice.
actually Jay, based on the average standard of 1hp produced for every 32.5cc's, 49cc's is approximately 1.5 hp not 3-4 hp. 4 hp would be about 125cc, that standard is why the 6.5hp predator engine is rated at 212cc!!!
Quadflopper101 c.c really is no relation to horse power. You can have a 49cc with 6.5hp with work done to it, or have a 212cc stock with 6.5hp
Quadflopper101 cc’s (cubic centimeters) is a measurement of displacement (displaced volume by piston). It has nothing to do with power output at all
J thanks for reviewing everything from$1400 to 1.4 million EVERYONE can feel included
Too bad 2 strokes are illegal in california. If they used a minarelli or piaggo engine they could go over 100kmh easily.
+Joe Barbaro these are 4 strokes, a lawnmower engine. They just have these fairings taken off.
Tyler Coates i know that they are chinese 4 strokes but a italian 2 stroke would be way faster
oh, yeah i agree. in any other state besides droughtofornia, 2-strokes are perfectly fine.
When Jay loving it, it's good.
second I saw this my first thought was "Why is Jay on a bicycle?"
at 6000 price point
I'd rather buy a Chinese scooter for 500 and fix it up
Loved that Bobber! 👍👍
