I can't stop smiling, hearing Uncle Stu use the girlfriend/partner analogy. Kind of a DejaVu feeling while listening to this, similar to what my conversations with my friends are during a bike talk session.
Love and support as always from India ♥️

Crikey Stu, you'll be writing romance novels next. 🤣 Great descriptions and good fun to watch. I would be happy with any of the three bikes referred to although I am seriously considering a Huntress simply because we have so many tight, twisting roads here that see the GT in second or third most of the time. I have ridden the Meteor and it was great fun on these roads in a laid back way. I think the Huntress will take the fun to the next level being a little lighter and having slightly quicker steering.

I'm collecting my halcyon green Classic this saturday. The choice was made for the looks alone. Haven't even seen one in real life yet. Test rode a Meteor to get a feel for the power train and then made my decision a few days later. It'll be a real treat to finally be able to straddle it. And then the wait for spring and bare tarmac begins....

Your scanning of the bikes bought back a few memories. The original Continental GT being the most significant for me..Back in the sixties a couple of then budding biker..Rockers..friends owned them, one had the same 'half faring' on his bike.. These were great little bikes. An off the shelf 250cc cafe Racer....clip on's, rear sets, swept back header pipe and a staccato bark from the exhaust... These little motorcycles had a good turn of speed for a quarter litre bike and most importantly they looked the part for us young blades...As far as l can remember Royal Enfield were the only British company that made this type of bike on a commercial basis....almost a copy of a Ducati Desmo but far cheaper...

Hi Stuart, my son is currently travelling across India, I said to him ahh, 'the home of the royal enfield' and he said... ahhha they are everywhere and sent back loads of footage, there are scooters et all too, but the Royal Enfield is the main love. Oh I went off topic.... The Hunter for me..... I always go for the 'femme fatale'.

I've bought the hunter myself...I know it's not all about speed ...but I've ridden the other two alot and can say the hunter feels quicker acceleration and even the top end feels better ...must be due to the lighter weight and that :)

Yeah saw the review and I was probably leaning towards the meteor but the blue and white hunter reminds me of my first bike, a blue Suzuki GP100.
I think the seating position is probably going to put less stress on my lower back than the meteor and being a little bit more agile and responsive does sway it.

    Morning Stuart, another great video.
I love the analogies, You can tell that you’re a man of a certain age and the droll sense of humour that we Yorkshire people possess really works well with the descriptions.
I bought a Hunter just before the big freeze and managed to put a hundred miles on it, I think it was a good choice.
    Regards Brenden.

For me wheels/tires sizes and suspension travel are of great consideration due to the crappy local road that I have. I love the 18/19 of my classic, they eat the bumps and pot holes. The bike even has good non paved road capabilities and good ground clearance.

'morning, Stuart and everyone! Thank you for this fine morning treat!
There's also this 411 Scram cousin. The bad girl. Not as rowdy as her older sister, Himalayan, yet wilder than any of these three.. but also more demanding... I still have few winter months to decide which one to run away with. Probably the feme fatale, I'm that kind of guy. Strangely gravitating towards the 70's style. 2nd place Scram. The 350 seems to be smoother and I like the looks more. Close 3rd classic (we both know we couldn't be together, it just wouldn't work long term). With meteor, we're just friends, and that's all we want to be.

Every time I'm out on my Classic Bullet 500 Deluxe (chrome), I allow time for talking. People love to ask about the bike and share their own stories. It really draws the eye. Next to vintage scooters, this gets the most attention of any bike I've had the pleasure to ride.

The hunter gets my vote on for two reasons.
    1. The riding position is much more to my taste than the meteor.
    2. The styling is more to my taste, reminding me of the bikes of my youth (in the '70s).
Nothing wrong with the other two, just the Hunter is more to my taste.
I can't comment on triplets. I have only know identical twins (who are not identical once you know them...). 😀

I have to watch this one again, truly the best way to describe three sisters. I dated the Meteor when I was young and wish I found one to settle down with, but found the free spirit was too free for my liking. Married the Classic , as she was one that even got attention on our wedding day. As for the Hunter, I guess that is the one I am looking for now. We will see.

Hello from Ecuador, Bought a Honda Navi (110 cc ) when I first got here. To commute around Cuenca. Population 600 thousand. Any bike can tour. One Sunday I took it on a 2 hour trip into the mountains. Sometimes only doing 15 KM/H . Its a Honda . Still running strong 4 months later. My Hunter arrived a week ago. Need a bike nimble enough to city ride. But also take me to the coast of Peru. Been riding for 50 years. Give me a comfortable seat on top of a dependable motor . And i'm in love. Fantastic video.

Really helpful video. I have experience riding trial bikes in my youth (the ones with no seats) and have always wanted to get my road licence and this is something I will be looking into doing this year. I am instantly drawn to RE because of how they look but also, the price! It's great to hear that all three of these machines do similar things, just with different personality. Definitely between the Meteor and classic 350s. Not a fan of the HNTR look to be honest. Great content! Keep up the great work!

"Every bike has been a sort of boyfriend/girlfriend relationship or maybe that's just me."
No. It is most definitely not just you.
You get to the heart of it: ride the motorcycle that gives you that feeling that you can't put out of your mind even when not riding. There's nothing wrong with buying a bike for purely practical purposes I suppose, but it's not something I would ever do.

  • @RobVespa
    @RobVespa 2 года назад

Thanks for another wonderful video. I had no idea you're garage is so large - and that you've such a massive collection of bikes. Wouldn't that be nice? Deciding which Royal Enfield to buy is definitely a challenging choice, especially since they continue to release new models. Yes, I'm still waiting for an updated 650 Bullet Classic. Ha. All the best!
On an associated tangent, but real, should you ever visit the states, be sure to swing by the Barber Motorsports Museum in Alabama if you're able. I had the opportunity to visit it years ago and it was a grand experience.
Another tangent - The opening footage reminds me of a visit I made a few years back to a collector in the midwest states. He had placed an ad on Craigslist, if I recall correctly, as he was letting go of a few bikes, as he was getting on (or making room). I didn't expect what I saw when I got there. This unassuming gentleman owned a large multi-level warehouse in the middle of a busy city in an industrial area. It was completely filled with vintage vehicles and has a full-service shop. Cars, bicycles, scooters, oddities, and primarily, motorcycles. There were probably over 500 motorcycles alone. I felt I had died and must've led a good life. Now, I imagine these oases exist all over the world. On increasingly rare occasion, you hear of them (of various sizes) being found after the owner passes on.
Now I wonder who this person is. What's their story. I ended up spending a good part of a day there talking with him, listening to stories and walking through his warehouse, but had a long trip back, so had to leave. I've thought about this on occasion over the years. If you're curious, I had two early 60s beauties to keep me company on the trip home.
Edit: While bikes in new condition are nice (for a variety of reasons), for me, there's just something about older bikes, with their patina, pits, and wear, that I find appealing. Their stories. History. Experience. As long as the mechanics are sound...

I'm torn between the meteor and the classic as far as looks go.
The cruiser seating position and bars maybe appeal slightly more.
But for some reason my head is saying I'll enjoy the hunter more.

Nice one mate and yeah too many times consumers try to ask too much, I know so many who bought their bikes for touring but are now selling it with less than 5k mileage on the meter over 7 years, just get a bike for what you will be 90% using it for not the "if's".

I have a Meteor and couldn't be more happy. The Hunter is also pretty good looking, but I'm not a big fan of the Classic because it looks like an identical copy of a bike made in the 1940's or 50's. For me the Meteor (and Hunter) give respect to the past in a more modern and updated looking package.

I have a Classic, I preferred the riding position to the Meteor but once introduced to the Hunter I was smitten, it feels right.

I agree. And the lack of underwear seals the deal for me...
