    This was a great video. Super clean technique. You can build up so much sweep confidence with a dummy. Such a great way to work without exposing a partner to injury. The 90 pound dummy is perfect. The cute Century Versys 50 pound one is ideal for kids to train with too. Nice Channel!

    I practised judo as a kid and 3 things has stuckto my mind for ever. 1 throw almost like this but you have to grab the dogi/coat, one very efficient lock in the groung and one James Bond-style throw (which Ive seen in karate too) =) and a lot of ukemis of course.

    I truly fond of watching your videos Jason! Great video about judo throws! Please , can you make some combined techniques (shotkan karate+ judo). For instance, your brother holding a dummy, then you do a finishing combo: "One-two"(fake)+"rear leg mawashi-geri"(stepping forward with the hit of dummy)+ gyaki tsuki ( in migi-kamae with hit of dummy) then + finish with "Uchi-Mata" throw+ and armlock in the end. Thank you!

    what is your take on the Aqua Bag Torso model?
    Love to hear what you think of it as I just found it for a real sale in a local store right now.. had looked at the round ones first but they were like 250 euros while the torso was on sale for 67 euros now...
    What do you think of it, and its' head part, can one really get in hooks and upper cuts well on it? and the swinging of it, what is your take on this?
    thanks for a new year with you! I keep following _)

    Do you think that all the body, and especially hip twisting that you do in karate is helpful in performing judo techniques?

    • @SENSEIJASON
      @SENSEIJASON  Год назад +2

      karate helped me in learning at a faster rate. Hip twisting from karate only helped me a little bit. The thing about judo, is not so much about twisting, it is about understanding where your opponents center of gravity is and how you can position your body to manipulate it.

    Poor Uke he needs Ibuprofen now. You must be sore after that. My favorite was the last otherwise known as Sashae Guruma. I thought you would do the infamous tobi nage but then its a sacrifice throw for you…yikes more soreness in the quads.

      @@SENSEIJASON speaking of neck training my DJ moose harness came in...how is it working for you? I hope it will fix my strained neck

    • @SENSEIJASON
      @SENSEIJASON  Год назад

      @stanleyumeh2223 I always use it as a warm up, or warm down after hard training. I feel like if my neck is feeling wacky, and if I do a few sets of neck extensions with the neck harness, I always feel more balanced out. Sometimes after a tough workout, you walk away feeling funny. And that funny feeling for me is often around my neck. So far I’m loving it.

    Hi Sensei! I'm looking to buy the same grappling dummy you have, but not sure about the weight. They don't have a 90 lb grapping dummy anymore; it's either 70 lbs or 120 lbs. I'm 5'7" and weigh about the same as you. Would you recommend going with the 70 lbs or 120 lbs? Most of the people at my club are much heavier than me (165-190 lbs). I'd really appreciate your thoughts! Thank you.

    • @SENSEIJASON

      @@SENSEIJASON .... Kano would not like RUclips at all 🤣. I am saying this only as a Sandan & former alternate from the OTC (Olympic Training center located in Colorado springs) who was raised and trained the traditional ways from world war 2 vets and former judoka practitioners of the Kodokan after the war when only traditional throws were practiced prior to all the variations arose. I have been blessed to have trained other top judoka thankfully over the years stemming from the same traditional throws that you are very skilled at I must say and I thank you for promoting the traditional Kodokan judo giving the opportunity for each judoka to learn from those first prior to the different techniques and styles of today. That in itself means a lot to me as a fellow instructor.
