Japan started to use a diecast, especially with the joints and connectors The US, when importing them for the west, turned those back to plastic. So lots of weight where now being put on smaller, weaker joints and pegs made of a much lower strength material

The "at the time" is important, since Turbo was released in 1997; at that time, Transformers was solidly in the Beast Era and vehicle combiners had been off the shelves since the G2 combiners in 1994.

The Turbo Rescue Zords were my first ever spoiler warning moment in Power Rangers. I saw a toy ad for these Zords in an issue of Fox Kids magazine, weeks before they aired on TV. I was so happy to see them on screen!
Let's be honest, Wild Force's whole gimmick was limb and torso swapping, so a shit ton of potential torso-limb combos is inherently a thing with that series.
To be fair most of the G1 combiners had to be sold with detached pieces to complete the combination. The only thing these don’t have built in are the cannons from Artillatron

As a kid I just assumed the Zeo powers were the base of the Turbo powers, and Zordon given his experience and data from previous zords could make them more powerful, however PR as a franchise loves to state the "most powerful zord ever" all the time, I think they did that in at least LSR off the top of my head.
My new headcanon is that fan theory that the Rangers abandoned the Zeo powers because as the powers increased in strength they became unstable and therefore dangerous for continuous use, at least for humans. Jason had to give up the Gold Ranger powers when it started to drain his life force.
not gonna lie, this video made me order one for myself. stickers are in great shape, only in a few spots are they peeling, no real scuffs that ruin the stickers. So far it feels really satisfying to transform them. only problem is one of the guns on the red rescue zord are broken, but the seller was kind enough to give me the broken gun bit, so I can probably just super glue it back on.
Haha glad to have had an affect. It's a great megazord! Definitely get the glue out, that's not a load bearing part so you shouldn't have problems with it again if you can get it attached on the cradle so it can rotate again
@@powerrangertube Thankfully it isn't that broken, most of it broke off but the back end that actually swivels is still there intact to just stick the piece back on without headache. Now I have to get the rest to complete the set.
God, I remember getting that zord for christmas that year. Also owned the White tiger megazord, ninja megazord, zeo megazord and shogun megazord. Never got to own the legacy versions, though.
To be honest, the combination with Tor was never really a great ultrazord. However, the Turbo rangers did have a Ultrazord combination if you take into consideration of how Tor's and Pyramidus' combination was achieved. It was just simply never used.
Gotta quick stop you on saying that this was further ahead than transformers. As both are based on japanese shows, the first transformers series came out in japan in 1984. and included the Constructicons. later on the Scramble City combiners. (all came with individual vehicle, and robot modes, as well as a combined mode. Scramble city even came with swappable limb bots) However, all transformer combiners came with extra bits for combinations (legs, arms, usually the head and chest) So from that regard yes, the engineering on this toy for all inclusive parts works in it's favor. and each individual piece. Even now most combiners have their combiner feet and combiner hands as separate pieces. Power rangers, and Super Sentai, focus more on the combined robot (and thusly use the hands inside of the bots...if there are hands), whereas transformers have aimed more for individual robot/vehicles, and when they combine they can combine, at the sacrifice of one of their modes (sacrifice as in, weak posability, obvious robot kibble in vehicle mode or vice versa) Sentai toys tend to ignore that in the designs for combining, using the gimmick of how they combine being the big part. And.....looking at the individual robot modes articulation, and vehicle modes, it looks like that was what was sacrificed for the combined mode.
The individual robot modes of the G1 combiners always looked like crap, and the combined modes weren't very impressive either, even with tons of partsforming. I think the Turbo Rescue Megazord would have actually been really impressive had it released in the Transformers toyline as a combiner.

In Power Rangers Turbo,General Havoc basically outwitted the Turbo Megazord with his Metallosaurus,basically trumping it along with his robot soldiers and leaving the Rangers without any zords to control. Phantom Ranger basically helped them while Metallosaurus destroys the city and yeah,the Rangers threw everything they did at Metallosaurus with Lightning Cruiser,Turbo Cannon,etc. It didn't work. Also,the Rescue Megazord eventually had to face the Turbo Megazord,controlled by not only Divatox's monster - Crosspatch but also the Phantom Ranger's Phantom Rubyw which was basically his reactor/Spark if we're speaking TF logic/lingo. It was a pretty good arc tbh. Also,the reason why combining individual robots were used was one reason - The Brave series which was running at the time of Sentai so the synergy was huuuuuge! Actually ur 100% correct, the Turbo Megazord, Robo Racer, Artillatron & Turbo Rescue Megazord from USA 1997-1998 Power Rangers Turbo are all 23 Years Old also as well as Aru Bui (RV) Robo, Sairendā, Bikutorērā & Bui Aru Bui (VRV) Robo from Japan 1996-1997 Gekisou Sentai Karenja are all 24 Years Old.
The part when you mentioned the plastic quality slowly degrading over every season went over my head till I rewatched this. According to veteran CCLemon99 many years ago he claimed that ever since Bandai opened their new branches in China and Thailand the plastic quality kept getting worse and worse, and Liveman's Live Robo in the 80s was the peak.
This was the megazord I wanted so bad as a kid but couldn’t find it. What hurt the most. Lost my Turbo Megazord as well. Though I do have the carrier zord.
Also,if you look carefully on both Megazords. They look more like mechanized mechanics. The blue zords are basically overalls while the heads are kinda like helmets which is fitting considering in Carranger,some of them including Yellow Racer is a mechanic. The flap behind Turbo Megazord might be something like a hoodie which is odd but hey,it fits.
I finally got it. It was at a collectors shop in my town. I was so sad that it didn’t come with the gray guns, but was reminded what it’s true weapons were and I do have that zord. Now I need to get me a turbo zord once again and I’ll be happy.

Just got this Megazord today at a local toy shop. It has a few minor problems with it but over all good. It is messing the black clips on the legs and no blasters. Got it for $65.
I had this as a kid, either the Japanese version or a knockoff (I got it from one of those local Asian boutique type things you see around). On the version I had the blasters were also that shiny chrome plastic and they fit really firm into the hands, such that I broke them trying to get them out. Overall I did really like the toy though

Now if they going to make a super minipla version of these zords though... Oddly enough, i dont have any problem with the limb swapping thing. In fact, i was actually looking for the RV robo so i can limb swap the zords, but i never got one & i didn’t dare to buy the PR version because i worried it would be different. Well i was 10 back then so i didn’t know if the connection will be different or not.
I actually don't think that the limb swaps look pretty good. I didn't know these zords before coming into your videos, and all 4 (the originals plus the limb swaps) look pretty good.

Now that you mention it, I noticed when watching the video that the legs did seem more proportional when the limbs were swapped.

Turbo Rescue (VRV)'s Pink were very similar to Ohranger Blocker (Super Zeo)'s Pink, both split into half and tuck their head in into one half.

Personally I think proportion wise taking the legs from the turbo megazord and putting them with the turbo rescue megazord looks the best imho.
