Got some extra info on gumboot and the 2017 albums. Changes (originally scheduled for 2017) does not have any outtakes on here. The gimmick of Changes is that it changes keys every measure as a rule for the whole album. None of these songs fit that rule so nothing here goes with Changes. A bootleg demo album has a song called “Music to Burn Money to” and that is the actual Changes outtakes. I would highly recommend Changes though! Also congrats man! Love that this channel is building so much. We just can’t get enough of your content!
cant wait for you to get to the great chain of being and down the sink, honestly can't pick which is my favorite from this album but i really think you'll enjoy the great chain of being
Ambrose plays sax, remember Magma? And intonation is easy, just need a tuner and a screwdriver. Tune the string open then play the same string at the 12th fret. If it's flat then move the saddle forward and if it's sharp then move it back but always tune the string open first after moving the saddle.
Not all of these songs were necessarily "cut" from albums, it's more that they just didn't fit on any of the other 2017 albums which all had their own specific concepts.
Unrelated but you should check out C.O.F.F.I.N. - Beasts (featuring Ambrose Kenny-Smith at Luliepalloza) for 5+ minutes of uninterrupted 10/10 harmonica
First off, congrats on 10k! Secondly, this song is honestly really great. Gumboot Soup isn't a B-sides album, just songs that didn't fit the vibe of the albums or were just written on their own. This song is honestly incredible. In this live version, Stu's guitar is to the left doing the wah-wah stuff, Cookie (the bald one with the nice beard) is on the right, and Joey's in the middle. Speaking of Cookie, tonight I'll be listening to his solo album "Cosmic Blip" (he does solo stuff under the name Pipe-Eye, though Cavs does most of the drums I think). I've been really interested in their guitars recently. Stu's 12 string was recently spotted amongst a couple other guitars we've never seen on their Instagram story. I've mainly been interested in what tunings they use for some reason. I know that the 12 string used to be Stu's standard tuning guitar, but now that's his Yamaha since he stopped using it. Next up is Superposition, Joey's song, and it's just so weird. I can't tell if I like it or not. I mean I do, but there's just something about it that's a bit offputting to me. Hope you like it!
Both Stu and Ambrose play sax, and the album version features saxophone . It's Stu in the studio version, though. Ambrose took up the sax around 2020-2021, and apart from Ice Death and concerts, Ambrose Kenny-G tends to be reserved for Uncle Murl™
Since you are talking about wishing you could do youtube full time, I think if you could somehow mix gaming with music that could be content that could attract a lot of new people. Like reacting to soundtrack from games or dissecting them or doing metal covers idk I know I love your commentary for King gizzard and first time listening to their songs, and it would be cool to see more mix between gaming and music.
@@rockdariff those are all good ones. It's pricy, but you guys should check out the jazz quartet! It's a pretty sweet display, and it's designed to be built by more than one person at once.
The next song is my favoeite gizz song, but its not like the rest of these songs. It's really weird. Its a joey song, lots of smooth vocal harmonies, lots of harmonic crunches, and lyrics that mix imagery of quantum mechanics and that good hippie-dippie "we're all star dust" mentality. Its so good.
This is definitely a sea shanty in my mind. I would do unspeakable things for a full album of King Gizz sea shanties. And yeah haha, that's Cookie in his Walter White era!
Man I bought an Ibanez Geo when I was broke in college and that thing WOULD NOT INTONATE to save my life. The low E 3rd fret to the open G were always like a quarter tone off 💀 I just got rid of it. I'm too hyper-focussy to deal with that.
Gumboot is not a “these songs sucked so we put them on here” it’s “it didn’t fit the flow of the album so we put them here,” so most of these are still really good gizz songs. The only ones I don’t really care for are Super Position and I’m Sleeping In, those are just alright.
Mr. DaRiff back at it again. Huge shout outs for your relentless output, kinda like King Gizz lol
That is Cookie in his shaved head, turtle neck phase
His dad says he's the most ripped kid in class, so
heisenberg phase
Oh i adore this KEXP performance, the sea shanty feel is awesome, and both Stu and Ambrose's vocals are top notch.

i love all the guitar parts for this song, it’s all got a bit of a pirate feel to them
it literally has the classic sea shanty strcuture
Ah yes Cookie in his bald phase cookiedawg69
Hell yeah! 10k subs! Woo! Here is to 10k more!
Yep you were right, the guy with the shaved head and beard is Cookie!
Love me a psychedelic sea shanty 🏴☠️
its basically King Gizzard's sea shanty song, could genuinely imagine this track being sung in 17th century taverns or something lol

Gumboot is the best!!! On the studio version of Muddy Waters there is sax.
The kexp session is definitely the definitive version, just a step above the studio version

Intonation gets quicker the more you do it, but non the less it’s a pain in the ass every time haha

That bass is BUMPIN on this KEXP video I just wish it had the same presence on the studio version
Congrats on the 10K subs!! continued success!
Also check out the Live at Red Rocks ‘22 version of this song, it’s sick as hell

I deff would love to some music for some games
How do you prefer your water, hot or muddy?
Both
Or Open.
Building legos with your girl is awesome. What have you built so far?
So far weve done the zen garden, bonsai tree, arrangement of potted flowers, and the fender guitar and amp

plus it has a kick ass bass line!
@@tillzillz IT DOES. And the low string is tuned up to an F

I PREFER THE EVIL COOKIE 🎶
The bass is hella fun to play along with even if so keep tripping over my own feet so to speak haha

funny, those are two of my favorites from Gumboot
