I think a 520 set of pencils would be overwhelming! I color to ease anxiety. I don't think these would help me with that goal!
Well, you would never run out of pinks or blues or purples, or anything for awhile lol. But yes, totally agree.
I’m with you on that one who needs 520 colors unless you are a serious artist even then I don’t think you need all those colors I just started coloring to do the same thing relieve anxiety & also stress
Yes, I suffer from full set syndrome coupled with overwhelm freeze disorder.... I HAVE to get everything for a craft then I’m so overwhelmed by it all, after I swatch,they all go on a shelf and I never touch them again 😂😂😂
I found this out the hard way. Got the 100 supersoft set and I am already overwhelmed by it. Imagine 520 pencils? It's too much 😣
300 is less overwhelming. Start with 300
520 pencils is so overwhelming, I get overwhelmed with 120 sets. I’m not about to put my brain through this. Lol thanks for the review.
Haha Prismas 150 was plenty for me. Still, it was fun to explore.
Same for me! I recently bought the 36 set of staedtler ergosoft. And it‘s more relaxing for me to only have to choose from 36 than from 120😅.

Since so many are close together you can probably make like 4 or 5 complete pencil sets out of this set of 520....
I actually bought these before i watched this. I've colored with them and i got vibrant colors from them. I used a blender to get smooth blend and I'm pleased with how they colored. But trying to find a specific pencil is not easy! I think it's dumb to put number near the beginning of the pencil which will get sharpened away fairly quickly plus its nearly invisible so its almost pointless. I swatched mine and wrote ea color name instead of number and it took me days :) I hold mine in 2 cases that hold 260 pencils. Overall I'm glad i own them but i have to figure out how to get them more user friendly. Thinking about using them as 2 seperate sets rather than 1 giant and might take your idea and put permanent marker number at base. Great video! Thanks :)
Yeah the number stamped in the middle is rather silly. These do work well with the caran d'ache blender as I showed in my blend test, but with the Prismacolor one that color broke down way too fast. You could totally split them into two sets. With the colors soooo close, you wouldn't notice skips.
I have them too and i think they're better than the square ones. They're softer in my opinion, I get vibrant colors and they blend easy. But I bought them on AliExpress for about 80 $ I would not bought them if the price was so high as they are at Amazon.

I have these and the square and the 120s, I prefer these as I always find they are smoother and blend better, the 120s would be my last choice of the 3, these would be first followed by the square. I only colour as a hobby so only do 3/4 pictures a week but I liked these so much I brought a second set from temu for less than half the price they are on amazon. Just annoyed I brought the shulanger 500 case and the ghastly thing fell apart within weeks so now have them split over two 300 cases.

I'm glad that she was honest and straight forward about saying you don't need them and how not as good as the square pencils. I was thinking about getting them, thinking they are the same as the square pencils ( which I enjoy alot) but now hearing her say few thing about them definitely made up my mind not to. Thank you
Yes, they are definitely not the same formula as the square pencils and not worth the money. You could take that $120+ and go buy better pencils.

LOL you should share a picture of it on your next Sat Chat or Instagram - I bet it is a colorful, beautiful organized chaos. I can't wait to build my own little crazy box of pencils. I have really been thinking about putting my oil-based pencils together and my wax-based pencils together rather than having them separated in their own sets. I wonder if I might use more of them that way. LOL!
This was great! Lol, I think they will look great in your office to show that are definitely a colorist. I loved the live swatch when you did it, and that in itself shows that you are one of the top RUclips Colorists. Unless I win a set in a give away I think I'm going to stick to my square set.
By top you mean craziest lol jk jk. No one should swatch 520 pencils in a single sitting hahaha. The square set I HIGHLY recommend, and these are definitely more of a fun, collection, almost art centerpiece than a set anyone needs.
Good review and they do look nice as a backdrop! I have seen some resin art featuring pencils made into some very interesting items! Some were just glued together! Thanks for all the efforts and Please take care out there!

I bought these and I love them! I arranged mine in holders by colour family and swatched them all by colour. The only thing I hated was the almost invisible numbering o them. Took me forever to make my own swatch chart! I love how they colour and after making my own swatch it's less overwhelming to find my colour family and easier to find when I have each colour family in its own cup/holder. Nice vid!
They are def crazy finding colors. I plan to create my own order though and get them in a display case

Thanks for the review. I have many sets of pencils so Ive bought these already and I'm enjoying them. I put 1/4 inch dot stickers on the end of each pencil to make it easier to just keep them in numerical order. And put them in 2 cases. I like all the color choices honestly and they don't color bad. I think they are pretty good.

The dot stickers are a great idea. They aren't awful pencils by any means, I just definitely don't want people thinking they actually need this set haha. It is a lot of money that could go elsewhere.

Originally I thought about purchasing these, perhaps it was a good thing that they weren’t available on Amazon, it gave me a chance to talk myself out of buying them and a case to store them. Thanks for sharing.

LOL I probably should have hit my limit before buying these, but, well, my mind wasn't there.
I bought this set for my birthday, opened them early just to make sure that they were ok, and then stored them away until the day. Someone told me that these were the same pencil as Guang Hui, and that sold me as I love those. I'm hoping that this set will have all the colours of Prismacolor, so that I don't need to get a whole set of Prismas to join in the Prismacolor colour-alongs on RUclips.
They have some similar colors for sure

Great review! I was fortunate to get mine also for the same price and since I already own several sets of Brutfuners I absolutely didn’t need 520 more but since I have the same full set, just have to have them syndromes that you do......, lol you know the rest, lol.

I love looking at swatch pages and once you have them in color family order that'll be so pretty... 😍
But I have so many sets, thus so many pencils... but a singular set of 500+ seems like overkill

this is just amazing! If I were you I would just run these already swatched pages through the XYRON 900 to turn them into stickers and then just stick your already swatches onto the 110 lp CARDSTOCK to add to your DIY "PLANNER STYLE" Color Swatch Book! i just love all your swatch pages! Kori, YOU are amazing! Do you own the happy planner paper punch? I think they carry them at Michaels for about $30. LOL! I almost forgot to say, I DO NOT THINK I WOULD EVER NEED THAT MANY PENCILS! LOL!!!
Oooh yes, believe it or not, I do have the Happy Planner punch back when I used to do Happy Planners. So I have that!
I must confess, I got some. They were on eBay marketplace for $65. How could I not get them, they are brand new too!!! I’m hoping to have the fun feeling while using them. You are right in everything you say. Some just can’t help themselves. Now I need the Brutfuners at a similar price, used or not.

I have the older Brut 160 round (barrels colored... no where near matching leads...lol) and no dipped ends. So it sounds like they are similar to these. I do love some of the colors that I can only find here and there in my more expensive sets (think burnt sienna 10% in Luminance). But I, like so many others making comments, really have no need for 520 budget pencils. I have so many now. We'll see what is available once I use up my budget pencil stash first
Yes, so you can buy these in various set sizes. Including just the 260 count (odds or evens box).
I was going to get them but after watching Lindsey review I decided not to waste my money because of all the cons. I just love her channel because of how funny and bright she is. You should check out her sat chat. That is my favorite content on her channel. Plus I decided not to collect art supplies anymore. I am getting overwhelm with all the different mediums. I just need to use what I love. Plus I want save for the artist grade pencils.
I do, actually, watch Lindsay all of the time - I even mentioned her in this review :). Like I said in this review, no one needs these at all lol. I just had to try them and see what on earth they were.

I wish I had watch this video before I swatched mine 🤦🏼♀️ I have a swatch book it took me 3 days to do this and I did my best to put them in color family order. I didn’t realize the number at the top til almost the end I was using the bottom numbers and names. So needless to say I missed quite a few like purples n yellows that didn’t seem like those colors til I swatched them. So I do not wanna re do it but it’s bothering me all my purple aren’t together 😆 had I seen this video I woulda know to put them in order 1-520 but thank u for all this information ❤️

What watercolor brush did you use in this when testing if the Brutfuner's were water soluble? I loved that nib!

I am watching because I like watching videos like this for entertainment purposes and curiosity's sake, but in no way would I acquire these. Ever. The idea of this is really overwhelming! I think that since I already have the 150 set of Prismas, 120 FC Polyschromos, 100 Derwent Lightfast, 100 CD Luminance and the 150 Holbein's, I think I already have a great selection of colors. More than enough. LOL.

Yes...yes, I do need these. And I would put them in my own order, and not go by the numbers. So it really doesn't matter to me if I can't see the stamped number.

Secretly hoping they bring out a brut square set of 520 - I initially brought these on Ali for $170 Aus but got stuffed around by the seller and got my $ back - now I'm sitting on the fence.
Awe, that's why I get weary about AliExpress. If they redid this set using the formula of the 120 squares, that would be interesting.
I’m with you and if they did come out with the squares in a 520 set(s) I think it would break the internet lol. If the day should come, I would buy two set’s because no one needs 520 so why not go for 1040 🤣🤣

I think this pencil set is one set that I don't want to buy. Where the heck would I store them? They would take up like 3 cases. Maybe when I first started to color I would have been tempted, but now I have a lot of pencils so I don't need them. Also omg the swatching, I love swatching but that would be a lot. I do love all the purples though.
Storage is definitely a problem lol. I actually enjoy swatching myself, but this was one where I was like holy moly that's a lot of swatches! But, like I said, I bought them to see and share, but no, no one needs these things lol

(My polychromos were so expensive and I don’t want to use them till I make sure my skills are back to where they used to be but then again small pack faber castell lacks the number of colours i usually use. And prismacolour is too expensive here
question: are there more browns in the brutfunerset then in the kalour? i need a set with many browns for my hachette heroes books, and i am in doubt to buy the crayola colored pencils instead. i own the kalour 520 allready but the brown colors are almost gone

520 is a little crazy, I must admit.
Wow what a large amount of pencils. My largest set are my 150 set of Prisma's. I have a lot of other brands in smaller sets. I agree that is impressive the pencils don't fall out of the box. Did you make those swatching sheets or did it come with the pencils. I don't think I would buy a big set, so I say right now.
I made the swatching sheets. It did come with some printed on really cheap paper that just didn't work for me lol. I agree, no one really needs this many pencils, but it was more just a fun little experiment.

I personally do not use my 520s anymore. They are with my kids. I do, however, use my Black Widows frequently, but it is a preference really. 520 colors is just way too many colors, but they aren't awful pencils either.

No not at this moment. I think hold off buying them. If 120 colors is enough for you, then 520 would be way too much. I watched one professional artist (I don’t remember their name) and she was saying many colors in a very large set of colored pencils aren’t going to be used and to stick to a smaller set of colored pencils. How many colors in your set of 120 have you used?

I don't have a place to put them and we will change our place of residence in a short time so I think it is a waste of money and time, my set of colors consists of only 120 colors and it is enough for me and also oily I bought it for more than 30 dollars
@@shadowguard3578 I'm a new user of wood colors and I don't know much about them, so I decided to take all the colors and practice them little by little and not use them much.
@@theartgirl7092 your welcome! At the moment I have a total collection of possibly 100 hard and soft colored pencils, and some are duplicate colors, and I don’t use them all. I’m a firm believer in using my art and craft supplies, and I wouldn’t be able to use 520 colored pencils in one set. Storage is also an issue with these pencils. Keep on practicing using the pencils you have and have fun using them. Later on you might want to investigate and research other brands, but for now your set of Nyoni 120 pencils has a great selection of colors.

No thank you. I do have the round barrel 120 set because it was really cheap, but comparing the two you see very fast the the square set is really the best.
So I'm kind of wishing I bought the square 120 set.
But I think people meant that the 520 BRUT set numbers are identical to the 180 round barrel set, not the square set.

Hey Luna, actually I had people asking if they were the same as the 120 squares, which is why I had addressed it. Now, the original (not dipped ends) 180 set do line up, but that's because they all come from this set. However, a lot of people were confusing the squares and these as one in the same - thinking the squares were created from this set.
It is an enormous amount of pencils - by far the most ridiculous thing I've ever bought lol.

Yes but I suggest Kalour 520 set over these.
I actually do not lol. We are all different though. I have a video on the Kalour. They were very scratchy, poor quality, rough to use.
@@ColorfullyOptimistic mine are not scratchy at all . I just bought the 300 set of kalour and none of them are scratchy at all . I also own prismas premier pencils so I know what creamy is. All my kalours are smooth as butter.
I order the Brutfuners 120 oily squares and A---on sent me their 80s set that would be great fro elememtary kids...Not creamy in the least, low pigmemtation as well. 80s come in a plastic box, also great for backpacks. Not so great for picky colorists!
The 120 squares aren’t the same as the 520s though…so hopefully you aren’t confusing the two :).Two completely different formulas for sure.
so many similar or identical colors. you would need a computer sampler to see the difference. The only way they can do 520 is having so many doubles, tripples. crazy
yeah they do have a lot that are close to one another. Nice thing is, if I run out, I can just pick one up close enough lol

The ‘oily’ part of the name makes me chuckle. I’m not a collector, and I use my art and craft supplies. So if I bought these ‘oily’ pencils 😁 I couldn’t justify buying anything else. I would be set up for life for every color that exists under the sun!!! 😅 I’m not even tempted to buy them. I do like the boxes the pencils come in, but I’m not going to buy them for the boxes. That would be foolish. Ha!
LOL I mean if you buy them for the boxes then you've joined me on the crazy train! I get a kick out of how this brand refers to their pencils as oily, like I literally giggle every time.

Yes, yes I DO need 520 pencils..... just not all in one set. I currently own 5 different sets of various brands and types plus a sack of "leftovers" and I feel my collection is quite complete.

Well yes, but that's a little different. The point of this video is whether or not you need these 520 pencils. Not a combination of all pencils 😃
I don't know if I'm deficient to notice nuance but a lot of them just look black-ish. I can just blend black and another color for the same result.
All of the colors look blackish? Or certain ones? There are definitely not all black colors or dark colors in this 520 set.
@@ColorfullyOptimistic No, the yellows look yellow-ish. But overall in the 520 set, I saw a lot of light black, dark black, blue black, sort of black, dark marine blue and deep anthracite. 😜

Reality even with a 100 pencil set: Holy cow, it took 2 and a half hours.
the only things people really need is food and clothes... things like that - (but only 10% or less of the clothes they really have). Nobody really NEED colored pencils, counting from 1 to 520. I ask myself do I want this. Answer: Yes - I have already bought it ( And I will never use it - I use FC polychromos)

I already have way too many sets of colored pencils (there I said it lol) and it's going to take me years to use them all up. Definitely don't need these!!
Haha, yes, like I said, no one needs these by any means. I will be using them a bunch next month for a hashtag, so they will get some love.
You can do a good coloring with only 12 colors. So no you dont need 520..
Absolutely. I did say that I didn't need this many pencils though LOL. This was me testing it out for fun and well, showing you all what you get if you did buy these.
