It is a great pedal. I have owned the Ditto, the Ditto Stereo, and now I have had the Ditto + for a few month. I used it a lot and do enjoy it very much. I have downloaded from RUclips or Spotify and organised my tracks by style (rock, blues, jazz, bossa...) and kept space for my own working tracks. I am on Mac and things cannot be more easy as I see the folders in the finder, so delte, add, modify is easy. One thing I miss and I would have loved is the possibility to slow down or speed up the music. That would have been a great feature for people who consider the DItto + as a traning tool. Maybe a future microcode update (hey TC can you do it ?). I do recommend this pedal to all my guitar friends.
Hey, thanks so much for the info. Are you finding that you have enough space to store multiple songs? I saw people saying they were only able to fit a couple of full-length backing tracks before running out of storage. I know the DittoX2 has the ability to slow down, so maybe if they come out with a DittoX2+, that might have everything we need! Fingers crossed!
@@randyrektor Yes you are right space is a concern. What I do is if I download a track which is for exemple a 12 bar blues, what I find is that the track repeat the 12 bars 3 or 4 time (same for a AABA song) so I cut the 12 first measures and only load them in the Ditto + say as Track 5. Then when I play them I can of course loop them as much as I want. Same for Bossa (for exemple Blue Bossa an easy one). I only keep 16 measure, load them and play them as long as I want. Hope this is clear. So in short Yes space is limited but you can find work around easily.
This is super interesting! Thanks for sharing your process! It would have been really cool for some expandable memory in it, but I guess we cant get everything lol!

Great review. I would use this in my teaching studio. I have had the original since shortly after it came out. I'm with you on the double-tap, but I don't do looping live, at least not yet. On the rare solo gigs I'll do straight solo guitar or iPad backing tracks. I like the idea of looping on the fly, but like you I would find a bigger display and more buttons if I really wanted to use it live.
Thanks for the kind words! I’ve been using it lots for practicing and I feel like that’s my favourite application. I can make nice chord changes and solo on them in minutes! Great practice tool!!
I totally agree with you with the fact you have to double tap to stop the Looper, I hated it and I sold it for this reason. It's a pity they they didn't change it with this new model!

Thanks for the kind words! I have no clue. They had some major supply chain issues with the first one, so I imagine they are like everyone else who’s waiting on chips. Hopefully soon! It would be THE looper pedal for the solo musician
Thanks for the review! I came here after buying it to find out how to delete my loop without playing. Yes, double tap to stop is kinda hard, but then you can't delete your loop without having it to start playback on the long tap? Any way to get around this?
I wasn't aware it started playing again on a long-press. I don't have this unit anymore because I upgraded to the 2X. Id suggest checking out the manual. Otherwise a work-around would be turning down the volume, deleting the clip, then turning back up.
I agree with your review - I have had the Ditto+ for some time now, and the one thing preventing me for using this looper in a live gig is the 'double tap to stop' the loop function. Such a shame, but impossible to operate with at double tab when perfoming (or rehearsing for a live performance). Tc Electronic should have made a dedicated stop buttom for the looper.
Yea I totally hear you. It's really difficult to coordinate, in my opinion. Love the size, but I'll take the hit and get the larger model for the stop button.
@@randyrektor agree - I really hope they will combine the ditto+ usb-load function with ditto jam x2 model. Does anyone know if its possible to reprogramme the loop buttom on the ditto+ to do a stop with only one tap?
Great review and info Randy. I would have the same issue with the double click to stop the pedal that you said, and just knowing that information was enough for me to stick with the X2 and not find this after purchasing the pedal. You saved me some money brother.
Hey that’s great to hear! Hopefully they take the guys of the Ditto+ and put it in the body of the X2.. maybe an X2+? That would be pretty awesome! Glad the video was helpful! :)
There are pedals with better sound quality, pedals with a stop button, pedals with built in drum kits, more memory etc, BUT. The extended mode is what sold this for me. I tend to use the looper to compose music mainly, so extended mode, to me, is VERY handy. I hope the other looper pedals get this kind of stuff in the future and even implement additional functionality such as this to make creating multilayered compositions even easier. Heck, if they need help thinking of stuff I'd love to give them ideas. To be really honest, it really struck me when I found out the new Boss looper didnt do anything like this... Innovation isnt just increasing the sound quality you know.. Come on Boss..
This is really interesting! Nice to hear someone who this pedal was clearly designed for. To me, it didn’t have quite everything that I needed, but I do love that feature and I hope it makes its way into the rest of their lineup!!! 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
I have the stereo x2 and would really like them to follow up with the rest of the range with the additional features. I also use stop a lot on the x2, so waiting now for the range to release :)
At time 5:42 Most people place the pedal on a board and can't put their heel on the floor to hit the button. No manual, and did TC fix the flat spot ? I heard the button would be changed pushing down would start it vs letting up starting it.
@@randyrektor ... You found the only way to prove me wrong , with the pedal being on the lowest level. GGG. I knew you were going to come back with that . ggg
I agree that this version is really just for practice and goofing around. It is a small form factor and quite simple but still with a good range of features, but for live and more complex stuff, a more complex looper would be better.
I am interested to understand this looper thing.. just one issue that crops out is how do you change from 1 section of a song to another section? Can i record separate section on separate channel & navigate that during play?
I don’t think there is a way to do that to be honest. the tracks work more like standalone playback tracks. you may need to look for something like the big Boss pedal with the multiple switches to accomplish something like that. hope this helps!
It’s really up to you. You’ll have to test it out to see which one gives you the sound you’re after. If you have it before the amp, it will be a clean loop getting distorted in the preamp section. If you put it in the effects loop, it will be an already distorted loop.. totally up to you
I'm glad I watched a few reviews before pulling the trigger on this thing... so tempted by the ability to load and play backing tracks etc but with no battery and no single-stomp stop it's not for me.
I’m glad the reviews were helpful. Yeah, I’ve found the backing track experience to be quite poor. I ended up selling this pedal shortly after making this video. Just not the most versatile thing on the planet lol
When did this come out? I literally bought the Looper V1 in August 2020. So annoying, this seems like a big upgrade. The screen seems like it helps timing for the layering, I've had more trouble with layering than just single loops, because you can only see when the loop starts with a flickering of the green light. I sometimes get fed up and just blast a backing track from RUclips that sounds like something I'm going for if I can't get the loop right. Overall, this looks wayyyyyy better than v1.
Hey man, this came out in the summer for preorder, but it didn't start shipping until late fall. It's pretty decent, but a lot of users have been reporting weird bugs with the looping and memory banks. I imagine some firmware updates will resolve everything. Either way, it's decent.
@@randyrektor Cool thanks for the info. Maybe its better to stick with the simplicity of version 1, at least until I get better at looping. I noticed my Ditto has something on the side that looks like a connection to update firmware, but it didn't come with a cable and I don't think its a micro-USB. Should I try to find something to upload the firmware? I just noticed that my other TC pedal, the original Flashback also has the same input jack. I guess its the cables that were around before the micro-USB cables? I remember connecting that Flashback to my computer at some point. But they also always had the tone print app, so maybe that is what I am thinking of. Thanks again.
Ooo interesting question. Unless someone can correct me, I'm pretty sure the only way to accomplish that is to double tap it really quickly or wait until the loop starts over again.
Not that I’m aware of yet. I’m getting the sense that there will be some updated patches coming down the pipeline as a lot of people are having issues with the current firmware. Maybe sometime? 🙏🏻🙏🏻
0:38 wow, man! Badass! 🙌 That sounds amazing Edit: I'm just simply wanting something like the ditto that can be sync'd to midi clock and it's annoying as hell that you have to get the BIGGEST version of any pedal for that lol 😭🤣 Edit 2: "my wife and I..." I missed that part! That's even MORE incredible! 😱♥️🙌
Hey thanks man! We had a blast, for sure! That sounds frustrating. I can't think of any small units off hand. I'm wondering if you can find a boutique pedal company that makes something like this. It sounds like something a lot of people would love!
I noticed too many users have issues with it even with the new firmware. I may wait a little and save up for a Boss looper instead. Thanks for the review.
Yea, I’ve been seeing a lot as well. The unit I had seemed to be free of any issues, but you’d think with it being 7 months behind schedule, it would have been ready to ship without issues. Really too bad :(
@@randyrektorAll AI am after is a looper and a Reserb pedal for my Blues playing. I really needed a simple looper and I had my eye on either the EHX 720 and the Ditto+ but with all the reviews I have watched so far It may be worthwhile getting the RC10R withers the useful Rhythem but no battery operation though. It is kinda frustrating though to choose one. Thanks for getting back
I recently purchased this, but I cannot get backing tracks to play back through the looper. When connected to my PC, it shows the tracks in the designated folder, and supposedly there is an icon on the looper screen that is supposed to indicate the folder has something in it, but that simply does not happen. Ther apparently is no actual manual for this pedal. I think I will be returning it to Sweetwater. Good demo by the way.
Oh shoot, for real eh? I actually never tested imported backing tracks, only saving my current loop and playing it back. I was a little confused to see there was no manual as well, very strange. Did you happen to try updating the firmware? Apparently the original factory line had a whole ton of weird bugs. Maybe it just hasn't been updated.
@@randyrektor Yeah, I checked the firmware and it is the latest and greatest. The pamphlet that came with the pedal noted to go to the website to see the full manual, but apparently, it is in stealth mode. Maybe you need to purchase TC Electronics special Krypto glasses to see it. I would also mention that unless it is attached to your board it is so small and light it can be a bit difficult to use the footswitch as it is not very stable. Anyway, my very old Boss is no longer working correctly so my search continues. Thanks for the response.
Man what a letdown :( well sorry you’re having a bad time with it! Lol the glasses would come in handy for the missing documentation, for sure lol! You’ll definitely need some Velcro to hold it down. The weigh of the cables alone sends it toppling and turning
I just got this pedal too and I have successfully loaded a backing track onto it. It has to be a .wav. I used winLAME to convert mine into a 16-bit PCM and it worked great. I plan to use that feature into my JBL PA cab occasionally for practice. So far I really like it.
Has anyone experienced that a loop has no sound when transferred to a computer? I love this pedal, and made a few decent loops that a wanna save on my computer. I did this several times with no trouble, but have experienced that some loops has no sound on the computer. Really strange. Would make sense, if it didn't work for ant loops, but it's only some.
Yea it's kind of annoying that it doesn't come with one, but I guess that's how they keep the price down. You'll need a 1-Spot 9v power supply. I guess they assume most people have one of those daisychain power supplies.
If you think you might get more, you should check out 1-Spot. They make a 9v wall plug that has a variety of attachments for different pedals, and also includes a daisychain to link multiple. I think you can power around 8 pedals with one plug.
If you're looking for a good looper to get started, I'd recommend this one, or it's younger brother, the Ditto looper. They are both pretty user friendly to get started!
I'm disappointer with this pedal .I wanted it to replace an old jam man, but the memory inside is far too short. I can't put more than a few songs. But even after putting wav or mp3 in it, I can't find them when I plug the guitar.... They are in the ditto+, I see them on my computer, but they don't appear when I plug my guitar and scroll though the tracks....
@@randyrektor I like TC but didn't get the original ditto cuz I recently got the ditto plus that released. I chose the boss rc3 over the ditto previously cuz of quantization and few other options.
Thanks for the review. The one thing I wish they had packed in was a simple metronome, that would have been ideal. Also, pointless observation incoming, I believe technically Plethora would have been the first TC with those type of displays 🧐
Yea that would have made it much more useful as a practice tool! Also right you are! I should have been more specific about it being the first ditto pedal with one :) thanks for watching!
@@randyrektor I agree entirely that this definitely won’t be on much live rig boards for people who do anything beyond maybe one or two basic loops or want some easy access to a few prerecorded pieces...the lack real estate it takes up is definitely an advantage there. I’ll be interested to see if an x2 or x4 comes out. I did buy a + but workflow-wise for me it’s really a more advanced form of my wiretap, when inspiration hits or the happy accidents happen...the somewhat path of least resistance to turn that into a transferable .wav. Thanks again.
Yea, I'm with you. I think you're right that the best application for this pedal is to capture some quick ideas, but the additional features don't really matter too much. Especially with how buggy they seem to be.
Obviously if you have more than 10-20 backing tracks/loops stored, you're going to create a spreadsheet or document to write Down which slot is which track so during a live show you can refer to that and quickly dial in exactly which you want , and rearrange then in setlist play order using your PC ahead of time. Simple, not rocket science.
I’m not sure if you’re joking lol. That sounds terribly inconvenient. I don’t play many gigs where I can bust out a spreadsheet to recall my tracks. 🤦🏻♂️
Great video! .... Great video! .... Great video! .... Great video!
Lol, I get it. Thanks :)

I laughed so hard at the loop in the beginning, clever.

This is really interesting! Nice to hear someone who this pedal was clearly designed for. To me, it didn’t have quite everything that I needed, but I do love that feature and I hope it makes its way into the rest of their lineup!!! 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Great review thanks!
I have the stereo x2 and would really like them to follow up with the rest of the range with the additional features. I also use stop a lot on the x2, so waiting now for the range to release :)
100%! I would love the screen and the extended loop on the x2!
That button - does it work well to stomp on it not wearing shoes? Is it hard to press down?
Not the most comfortable. Takes considerable effort barefoot
At time 5:42 Most people place the pedal on a board and can't put their heel on the floor to hit the button.
No manual, and did TC fix the flat spot ? I heard the button would be changed pushing down would start it vs letting up starting it.
Mine was on a board and worked fine with my heel on the floor. Wont work if its not on the lowest level. Haven't had any issues with the button
@@randyrektor ... You found the only way to prove me wrong , with the pedal being on the lowest level. GGG. I knew you were going to come back with that . ggg
Can u plug it into your keyboard to record loops?
Can this be hooked up to my iPad vs computer?
Thanks for the great review
Thanks for the kind words :) hope this was helpful.
I agree that this version is really just for practice and goofing around. It is a small form factor and quite simple but still with a good range of features, but for live and more complex stuff, a more complex looper would be better.
Yeah totally! I opted for the two button version. I forget what it’s called. The 2X? It’s been awesome :)
Would I have to run this through my effects loop if I primarily use the amps overdrive? My reverb and delay pedals are in my effects loop. Thanks
It’s really up to you. You’ll have to test it out to see which one gives you the sound you’re after. If you have it before the amp, it will be a clean loop getting distorted in the preamp section. If you put it in the effects loop, it will be an already distorted loop.. totally up to you
Cool stuff. Can't wait to get mine. What's that Stomp Box you show us all about?
That’s basically a ‘kick drum’ sort of sound. You can use it to make a thumping low end while you play :) this one is by Shadow
@@randyrektor Oh I see, thanks.
:)
Huge fan of your version of 'I Just Called To Say I Love You'. I didn't know you did product reviews, too. Instant sub. :)
Ahhhh you’re the best! I’m pretty new to this, I’m no Bailey, but I’m learning. Thanks for subscribing!
And this is a GREAT video. a GREAT video. a GREAT video. a GREAT video. a GREAT video
@@randyrektor You’re welcome. The quality of the video is already amazing! And I really like your vibe. Keep it up 👍
@@spicycurry1190 Thank you so much!
Doesn't the 2 clicks play the loop out? So you can do it whenever inside the bar and it stops in time?
I don't think so, I'm pretty sure 2 clicks stops it cold turkey. That would be really nice and intuitive though!
I only had 8 months of use of X2. I can't find a repair for it.
How the hell do I save a loop? There isn't a manual that I can see anywhere
Great video. Subscribed.
Thanks so much! 🙏🏻
Great video and I'm glad I watched it!!! I was going to buy the Ditto+ but I'm getting the X2 instead. Thank you!
Awesome, enjoy! I still use the x2 regularly and I love it
Thank you, thank you....I can't stop with a double click either!
is it possible to play along with a playback? Can I insert songs in Ditto+?
Sure can! You can import them and store them on the unit :)
@@randyrektor
Can you set this so that it starts overdubbing immediately after you hit the switch instead of having to hit it again?
Ooo interesting question. Unless someone can correct me, I'm pretty sure the only way to accomplish that is to double tap it really quickly or wait until the loop starts over again.
So they havent added a 'loop decay' function set in the background firmware?
Not that I’m aware of yet. I’m getting the sense that there will be some updated patches coming down the pipeline as a lot of people are having issues with the current firmware. Maybe sometime? 🙏🏻🙏🏻
I use it for fun so its literally perfect
Love this!
0:38 wow, man! Badass! 🙌 That sounds amazing
Edit: I'm just simply wanting something like the ditto that can be sync'd to midi clock and it's annoying as hell that you have to get the BIGGEST version of any pedal for that lol 😭🤣
Edit 2: "my wife and I..." I missed that part! That's even MORE incredible! 😱♥️🙌
Hey thanks man! We had a blast, for sure! That sounds frustrating. I can't think of any small units off hand. I'm wondering if you can find a boutique pedal company that makes something like this. It sounds like something a lot of people would love!
2:22 Hey... I just opened mine and it didn't come with a sticker... not even a bent one like yours. lol
Weird! I wonder if they just stopped shipping them.
great video thanks
Thanks for watching!
I’m with you in the double-stomp. Can’t do it unless it matches the tempo of the song
Yesssss, I have no idea how people do it. It's a "patting your head and rubbing your stomach" kind of thing for me 😂
I noticed too many users have issues with it even with the new firmware.
Thanks for getting back
Yea I hear you. There is no battery option in the ditto either. It’s a tough choice, for sure! Good luck with the hunt :)
Hey, thanks for the update man. That’s great to hear. Did you try other file types that were unsuccessful as well?
Do u know if i could use it for vocals w a xlr to 1/4”?
You probably could but it might present challenges with the auto-gain. I’d recommend checking out the ditto mic looper :)
@@randyrektor was tryna cut cost bc the regular ditto 80$
When you doible tap stop does it leave a tail or stop dead
Dead stop. Might get that effect if you run it into a reverb/delay
@@randyrektor thanks for reply
Has anyone experienced that a loop has no sound when transferred to a computer?
I love this pedal, and made a few decent loops that a wanna save on my computer. I did this several times with no trouble, but have experienced that some loops has no sound on the computer. Really strange. Would make sense, if it didn't work for ant loops, but it's only some.
Eine Frage, kann ich auch singen und meine Stimme aufnehmen nit dieses gerät
mine is not working and returned it ...just On botton no looping .
I'm confused on how this thing is powered. What do I plug it into and why is it not included?
Yea it's kind of annoying that it doesn't come with one, but I guess that's how they keep the price down. You'll need a 1-Spot 9v power supply. I guess they assume most people have one of those daisychain power supplies.
@@randyrektor Thank you, makes some sense now. I'm just getting started on bass and this would be my first pedal.
If you think you might get more, you should check out 1-Spot. They make a 9v wall plug that has a variety of attachments for different pedals, and also includes a daisychain to link multiple. I think you can power around 8 pedals with one plug.
I'm music 1st grade student can u guide some looper good and cheap for learn music at school >
If you're looking for a good looper to get started, I'd recommend this one, or it's younger brother, the Ditto looper. They are both pretty user friendly to get started!
Best pedal...EVER! Worth it just to be able to play 'pong'. Did you not know it plays pong?
Wait.. Like the game? What? Explain! lol
@@randyrektor 1- unplug 2- hold upper right button while plugging back in....PONG!
Hahahah amazing! I have to try this
this or the ehx 720?
I’d go for the 720! Has a dedicated stop button which is so nice. Plus it’s stereo :)
THX! ;)
👊🏻
I'm disappointer with this pedal .I wanted it to replace an old jam man, but the memory inside is far too short. I can't put more than a few songs. But even after putting wav or mp3 in it, I can't find them when I plug the guitar.... They are in the ditto+, I see them on my computer, but they don't appear when I plug my guitar and scroll though the tracks....
Yea I hear that the space is much smaller than expected. I heard that updating the firmware helps a lot with file management
@@randyrektor I have the latest update.. I'm trying to get in touch with tc electronics because there is just no video about it on youtube....
Ahhh that’s too bad! Sorry to hear man
Missed opportunity... They could have at least added a 1/8" jack to add a button or two..
Yeah true! To be fair, I think they are trying to make a clear distinction between their other models. They probably want you to upgrade lol
@@randyrektor yeah but.. The haven't released a Ditto 2x+ or 4x+ so... WTH
@XChristianNoirX oh I see what you mean!
Who's rocking the original Ditto?
No one. Lol
Not a fan?
@@randyrektor I like TC but didn't get the original ditto cuz I recently got the ditto plus that released. I chose the boss rc3 over the ditto previously cuz of quantization and few other options.
Yea that makes sense :) I hope you enjoy!
@@randyrektor forgot to mention. I dug your review. Good stuff brother keep em coming.
Only Sweetwater sells this brand now. Best of luck to TC. Appears TC is exhibiting the death rattle of business. Hope they see past a year.
Yea I noticed that it wasn’t showing up on Amazon or nearly anywhere else. I wonder if it has to do with supply chain issues. Sad to see!
@@randyrektor Possibly. But I'm curious as to why only sell through Sweetwater?
Fair point! Yea super interesting..
@@randyrektor Maybe Sweetwater bought the company. THAT would be exciting!
I really don’t think a double tap is that difficult.
You’re a wizard, Cody
What's your wife's channel please?

@randyrektor thanks, this was very informative. Would like to know more about your set up and the harmony pedal used on your wife's clip? Great work!!
