I remember that night in my early twenties when I decided to drop out of UC Berkeley, and devote my life to becoming an artist. Like most artist at that age, I thought I was already an artist when I had done little, skilled but hardly of any real merit. I cried looking ahead at the life I knew was ahead, I had to be absolutely sure that I was making my choice because I wanted to give the most of myself to others. I knew I would not reach my goal for many decades. I formed a strategy, and this included reading, reading and reading on every subject, developing unheard of craftsmanship, practicing endlessly and staying unwaivering in my decision. After a good cry, I said to myself, out loud, "I'm going to get started early tomorrow morning, because I have a long way to go." The next morning I got busy, one day at a time, the next day and the next.

You're very inspiring with your messages. I've been telling myself for years now it's time to get started on growing a beard and I have been trying Rodney. I even water my face extra times a day and sleep staring at the ceiling so the pillow doesn't push the beard inward. I want an outside beard but it just is not happening Rodney. I was ready to give up again but you motivated me to just buy one off of Amazon. Not a real beard. I'm not sure if you can buy those on there? If I can't have a proper beard of my own hair and I have to settle for monofilament fibers. It's a start, right? I will fake it until I make it. There is no stopping this journey now. Thank you Rodney. If I ever get a beard fit for naming I will call her Norman in your honor.
I got a bicycle again as an adult. I couldn't even make it two miles the first day cuz my butt hurt on the seat and I was fat. It wasn't a 2 gram carbon fiber, it was a 12 pound iron horse made in the 70's. I got on that sucker every. single. day and over the span of 18 months I was riding twenty miles daily and rode a century ride (100 miles in a day), lost 80 lbs and had a total of 3000 miles on that bike. Then I got a full time job and that was the end. Want to do again, but I'm old now...so maybe not as much.
What great advice. A plan is the starting point, then getting started on it, adjusting as you go. After the plan gets going, you're on a roll building up to the next big thing. When you do stuff that helps other people, they will support your efforts, and often will offer their help get the thing done with you. The obstacle to overcome is the worm-tongue telling you it won't work. Just get started, and stick to the plan. If we do what is pleasing to Yahusha, we will never fail.
