    Thank you for these great videos. I want to ask regarding meditation during quarantine. Would you recommend to do all following: freshwater bath, hydrogen peroxide bath and then 14 day copper treatment with 14 day in observation tank? Thanks in advance. Armen.

    Hello,
    I'm a bit confused if I may ask for help. My fish seller claims that the treatment/quarantine of the fish only helps temporarily and after a short time the fish start to get sick again and die. Could this be true and then how often should I treat the fish again?
    I'm new to the hobby and don't know who to trust anymore!
    Thank you !!!

      Vendors have varying definitions of what "quarantine" really means. The write up explains in more detail: humble.fish/community/index.php?threads/actual-vs-half-baked-quarantine.3627/

      Great video,
      I have to let my 90 gallon contaminated FOWLR sit Fallow for 80 days. Can I turn my 40 gallon quarantine tank into a semi permanent display tank, and then transfer over to the 90 gallon at the 80 day mark?

    • @HumblefishReef
      @HumblefishReef  7 месяцев назад +1

      @@Whaleydavey Is the 40 gallon the QT where you are treating the fish? If so, it would be best for it to remain rockless due to absorption of medications. You can add a very light layer of dry sand on the bottom if you wish.

    • @Whaleydavey
      @Whaleydavey 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@HumblefishReef Yes. I will follow your guidelines with the pipes and the HOB filter with sponge and Fluval media that doesn’t absorb copper.
      I might quadruple amount of media and sponge to increase nitrifying bacteria load.
      Then after all the fish are treated, remove copper with carbon.
      Will this 40 gallon QT tank in essence now work as a display tank in its own right without me having to do anything to it? Or will the bioload be too much for the 40 gallon as it is - after copper treatment.
      After 80 days fallow, the plan is to move 5-6 small fish like corisse wrasse, clowns, cardinals, firefish back into the 80 gallon.
      Keep the green clown goby in the 40 gallon and make it a second display tank. And start another 40 gallon QT in future.

    • @HumblefishReef
      @HumblefishReef  7 месяцев назад

      @@Whaleydavey You can transition the 40 gallon into a DT after you are done using it as a QT. However, I would remove all of the copper + run carbon to remove any other medications before adding rock to it.

      @@HumblefishReef Thank you so much. I really appreciate all the time you have given me. I have learnt so much about quarantine tanks and the nature of copper from your videos.
      I always thought copper killed 100% of the good bacteria and would just turn the dead bacteria to ammonia.
      I have been so scared of copper because I thought I would have to put copper in a non-cycled tank and constantly do water changes and then stress the fish out with all the water changes.
      Thanks again. 👍😀

    How fast does beneficial bacteria sets ? Does seachem matrix come already seating with any bacteria? What to do if we are in a rush for an ich outbreak? Won’t have time to dose turbo start ?

    • @HumblefishReef
      @HumblefishReef  2 месяца назад +1

      @@MergulhoDoJoey Seachem Matrix does not come with bacteria. You have to “seed” it with live nitrifying bacteria. Unfortunately, this is not an instantaneous thing so I recommend keeping up with water changes until your biofilter kicks in. Use the Seachem ammonia alert badge and watch how the fish are acting to let you know when it’s time to do another water change.

    Hey, I really want to quarantine corals and inverts, but I cannot as I live in a tropical country where the water can reach 114 degrees Fahrenheit. So, I can only quarantine fish. I could quarantine corals and inverts but I would need a chiller and it’s too expensive, so my parents won’t allow me to. So what should I do? Please let me know. Thanks a lot. Please reply.

    I am debating on adding an air pump to my qt tank, I have a glass lid and HOB filter and I feel this might limit the oxygen exchange, even with good surface agitation. I also like wrasse and end up doing a course of Prazipro which can drop oxygen. What are your thoughts on this ?

    • @HumblefishReef
      @HumblefishReef  3 года назад +1

      I would remove the glass lid (if possible) which will allow better gas exchange at the surface. Your HOB filter pouring water back into the aquarium will help raise oxygen and you can also point a small powerhead towards the surface of the water. An air stone does the same thing, but is messier.
      Instead of using a glass lid, I recommend a more breathable screen top.

    After a successful QT, fish gets moved to the DT, and my qt tank is fishless, do you recommend dosing ammonium chloride to feed the nitrifying bacteria to avoid having to recycle? And if so how much?

    • @HumblefishReef
      @HumblefishReef  2 года назад +1

      So long as you add more fish within a month or so, no need to feed the nitrifying bacteria in QT while going fallow.

    What type of sand do you use in your qt tank as I was told live aragalive sand is bad to use. I’m setting up a 20gal QT tank now and will be treating all my fish in my display tank as I’ve had an ich outbreak and plan to move all my fish from display tank to the qt tank for treatment with copper. But I have a diamond goby that likes to sift sand. Please let me know and thank you so much. Can I keep my fish in the same tank I treat with copper in until my tank fallows for 80 days?

    • @HumblefishReef
      @HumblefishReef  2 года назад +1

      Any dry sand will work (even pool sand if you don't mind some diatoms). I'm kinda partial to Tropic Eden Reeflakes (3.5 mm) in all of my tanks.
      You can treat with copper in QT for 30 days, but after that I would do water changes + use Cuprisorb to remove it.
