Hello friends,
Welcome back to Swift Guitar Lessons for another By Request Song Tutorial. A large portion of the request I receive are for The Beatles and their solo works. So today I’ll be breaking down a true classic off George Harrison’s 1970 album, All Thing Must Pass entitled “My Sweet Lord.”
Featured Product of the Week:
The new AirCell Guitar Strap by my good friends at KLIQ Music Gear. This is by far the most comfortable guitar strap that I’ve ever used. Long hours in the studio or on stage often leave me feeling pretty sore, especially with heavier guitars like my 93' Gibson. The aircells in this strap are designed to absorb shock, while keeping the guitarist cool.
I’d love to hear what you think of this strap, so take advantage of this exclusive Swiftlessons promo code: SWIFTSTRAP to receive a $10 discount.

The dog is obviously a stones fan
Lol, I think the best way to enjoy Harrison is lying on the floor and vibing.
Bahahaha
God, you are so attractive. I had to rewatch this a couple of times ‘cause I wasn’t paying attention to the guitar 😂😍
That dog is straight vibin’
Clearly a Ringo fan!
This is by far THE best "My Sweet Lord" guitar tutorial on RUclips yet. Thank you for sharing your lesson!
Yeah...that's true...
Intro Slide Solo 14:48
Main Slide Solo 20:38
I'm a surgeon, and a keyboard player in a local band and have now taken up guitar after many many years. I grew up with the Beatles, and have always loved My Sweet Lord by George Harrison, my fav Beatle. I've always wanted to play it. It's been a struggle with all the chord changes, bar chords etc and have tried different tutorials. This one by Swift lessons is by far and Way the best tutorial. Will be subscribing and using him frequently!!! Thanks!!!
Love this tutorial. Mr Swift always provides great content. Still can't believe nobody commented on the DEAD dog in the background. thanks for posting.

when I was in college dorm when nothing to do, i remember me and my friends playing. it felt good when you strum and it sounded right. none of us are musicians now but engineers.
Honestly one of the best guitar tutorials ever made. So clear and easy to follow for newbies like myself

Ever since I first heard this tune in 1970 I felt that the acoustic guitar in the far right channel is one of the best acoustic rhythms ever put down on vinyl. Not only is it an excellent rhythm that keeps up the pace throughout it is a percussion instrument in its own right. I feel it is one of the instruments that keeps the song rolling from start to finish. I wish I knew who played that part.
+Bob Wags I agree, such a powerful sound, it really does drive the track. I assume that George played it, but that would be worth researching.
swiftlessons All Things Must Pass is second only to the album Plastic Ono Band on the list of my all-time favorite albums. The massive amount of talent George brought with him to the sessions is stellar. I'm just amazed they actually completed the project with Phil Spector producing! I would love to hear a total remix of the album with out all of Spector's echoes and reverb.
@@swiftlessons, thank you very much for this tutorial.. George had the four members of Badfinger of which Pete Ham played one of the acoustic guitars. John Lennon also played rhythm guitar, and also Peter Frampton on acoustic. There is a whole bank of them playing as you can tell. . The Hare Krishna chant in the latter part of the song is the most significant part of the song. Hindu is not accurate as it is a term made up by Muslims for those east of the Infhu RIver, but I know what you meant. . Krishna is a sanskrit name for the Supreme Lord. By chanting it you become purified. I became a monk in the Krishna tradition because of George's influence
@@tallmn1957 It sure did improve "Let It Be"! I'm a mostly analog/vinyl guy, but the de-Spectorized "Let It Be Naked" CD is so great
He doesnt use a capo tho
Great job. slide and all. I had fun playing along with ya. There's just always been something magical about this song to me.
Finally, a high quality tutorial of this song!
TheDarkChurro pkuhffsd
I would like to see you do a lesson for the guitars in How Do You Sleep by John Lennon since nobody else does a lesson of the song so that's just my recommendation please
George Harrison used a capo on the 2nd fret, as shown in the video. I find it much easier to place may capo on the 4th fret. In this way, you use way less barre chords. I can do the bar chords, but it gets very tiring on the left hand to do that many.
I love the pooch taking a nap in the background, so cool.
Los acordes. Por favor. Soy principiante.
love the dog lying in background
The dog is a Rolling Stones fan.
nice dog....
I just started learning slide guitar two months ago and this song was the first one that entered my mind. In fact, other Harrison's slide licks (Blow Away, Give Me Love) have attracted me , too.
Since I wanted to play the entire song solo, I use a thimble slide in order to chord and slide. I did not pick up on the hybrid picking of the third line of the intro but did recognize the B-string was a half note lower so I have been using index and middle finger on E and B strings to play that part without the slide.
Time to learn the hybrid method.
Holy Cow. Are those tape machines in the background?
Oh yeah, had those Scully's back in the day. I donated them to a local Philadelphia recording studio where they're still getting regular use.
18:46 the dog...... the DOG ....THE DOG!!!!!!!!!!
Yup, that's Otis.
😂 I love your dog man, by the way, excelent work.
Very nice rendition. Many (MANY) folks do not play the 3 chords in the D-Ebdim-B7 progression. They will either play the Ebdim and hold it until transitioning back to the Em or just play the B7 straight from the D. I assume they do this due to the fact the Ebdim and the B7 are somewhat close (only 1 note off, really). You correctly play all 3 chords. Bravo. I would be remiss, however, if I did not point out the fingering George uses for the Ebdim is different from what you are using here. He actually uses the following fingering: X56464, which is really just an inversion of the chord you're using. It does give it a slightly different tonal quality, though (closer to the recording, obviously). You can see him using this fingering in the Concert for Bangladesh footage (if you can find it). Eric Clapton also uses this fingering in the Concert for George (at about a minute and 24 seconds). Funny thing, though, he is also one of those folks that does not play all 3 chords. He simply holds the Ebdim then transitions to the Em. But hey...he only played the solo in the original recording...George did all the rhythm work.
appreciate your added insights. I am one who had not picked up that B7 chord.
Also appreciate the alternate shape for the dim chord. I've only played them on the high strings.
Your lessons are superb. Thank you so much
+joalucard hey, my pleasure. Thanks so much for the from the comment!
I'm just here for the covers you do in the beginning they're amazing!! It motivates me to learn these songs on my guitar!
Best part is his dog
You are a good instructor, I play by ear for the fact I have to but your instructions hit home. Thank You!
very nice. watched it over and over...the dog. lol
just kidding. enjoyed it. thanks for the lesson. best one i've seen!
I love the sweet dog listening to My Sweet Lord!
Youre one of my the best guitar teacher in youtube. Thankyou.
Esta cancion la compuso george a raiz de un incidente que tuvo en la tienda de la esquina, fue a comprar un dulce y como el tendero no le hacia caso, george le recordaba, "mi dulce senor!"
Jajajaj
Does the KLIQ Aircell guitar strap prevent neck dive issues with an SG? Some straps have a slippery underside and the ones that don't, say a suede leather underside, don't slip.
Great lesson! Meantime your dog just some steps from you, died starved. LOL
Please do all of marooned pink Floyd
Very Nice
great lessons! really like it that you just cover it first with all the chords visible, because for most of these songs this is enough to learn it
Hi, friend! Can you upload the "Fill my eyes" by Cat Stevens guitar lesson? Please!!!
That was a superb lesson! Great teaching i got it right first try thanks to you ! Thank you so much mate
Dude, I love your videos!! Love the Beatles and having only been playing 2 months can now pull together 'Imagine' and 'Let it be'. Thank you! From beginners who are impatient to learn :-D
My bored dog, my bored dog, I wish you woulda show me love, I wish you woulda show me love, cause it won't take long my dog.....
rachel dice that's so funny, my spleen is now damaged
rachel dice this made my day 😂😂😂😂
And what's going on with the dogs mouth while he's sleeping??
At 4:43 the chord you're fingering isn't the one displayed in text. You're actually playing X24432
George doesnt use a capo though. When you use one the guitar is just to high----when you listen to the song the guiyr is much more lower and bassier--but it's HARDER to do it without the capo (I use the capo too:/)
The part using two strings is not correct. The descent is with the following notes: F with Ab, D with F, B with D and Ab with B. The last part of the melody is also with two strings. They could tune the first string to D, but apparently George Harrison recorded it with two different guitars.
Thank you my sweet Lord for talented people such as him
Well OK good, now to figure how how to magically get the slide onto my finger really quick like so I can hop onto the lead part hmmm
Hey I’m preforming this song at my schools talent show thank you for teaching me the lead guitar for it but can anyone help give me amp settings and effects to achieve the album recording sound? I have a tele I should mention
Wow I never noticed the B7
Sir, you are so damn good. Thanks so much for sharing your vast knowledge.
I felt like Captain America showed me how to play the song! Great Vid!
After learning this it clear that Harrison was a genius such beautiful chord changes
So true
Could you please share the tone settings for the slide part please? Thank you
Yeah, the dog takes the show
No question, he was a magnificent beast and the best friend I ever had.
Is that an Aberdeenshire terrier or something like that? Nice lesson btw and epic canine
Awesome job combining the two lessons of rhythm and slide. Thanks so much.
Hey glad you enjoyed this one Sam. I hope to get back to slide lessons very soon. Have fun. -Rob
Im gonna learn to play both parts on the acoustic--we cant perform it using 2 guitars
Consider doing solos for "Cheer Down" by George Harrison. The last one is tough.
Great lesson thx. Has your dog ever tried to sing along with you? Like whooowhooo? :)
I've tried to get him to howl with me, he's not into it. This time of year, he likes to lay around and relax... summers are pretty brutal in philly.
19:13 literally sounds nothing like the original part of the song does anyone know where to find that section anywhere else?
+swiftlessons - What happened to the last part of that solo? The last few bars of that solo is two harmony slide parts! Oops! You'd better check Harrison's original track licks. ;>)
Это правда. Но эта часть не будет играть на одной гитаре.)
Also, the lower slide harmony is wrong. The correct notes are F - D - B. You have to use a different tuning to make this work .....
hi great tutorial? what;s the model of GUILD btw?
Great Lesson from a awesome guitar player keep up the good work!
Too bad none of you guys can resist singing. Thanks for the good guitar instruction though
En la segunda parte, fuera de armonía y completamente desafinado al cantar.
Nice job sharing and teaching. You're a great player!
Fantastic lesson man! Not to make sure that you do not sing shabby either.
Great teacher - belongs next to Jesus as yoeman first class
If only George had someone to show him how to write that song!
Are you from Canada? Your accent sounds a little funny
I was wondering the same thing!
Love the dog.
Super video Bro. 🙋🏻♂️🇵🇪
What does the guitar slide thingy do?
I've been waiting dor years for someone to do this
Outstanding! I mean... Hare Krishna
How the fuck did I not know that lead was a slide??!!
The passing chords are def the tricky part.
I have that same LP, 93 studio right?
There's a lot more chords in there than I realized.
Great instructional vid!
Love this song
Nicely played. However the dog doesn’t look impressed. 🤣🤣. Great lesson thanks. I was 15 and just left school when this was out & I always loved it. Cheers.👍👍👍
very good but it looks like dog has been taken
What guitar you using for the lead part?
Hey Sam, that’s a 1993 Gibson Les Paul Studio.
@@swiftlessons thank you, while we are on this topic can you suggest me a perfect guitar under $300?i would really love to know what you would like to suggest me,since which im sure you are way more experienced and know lot more about electric guitar, btw im into blues

My sweet Dog,
been playing all my life and I NEVER thought of using an Em with an A major!? It's always the Am....just that intro makes it brilliantly simple. Ive never heard those chords used like that
I want guitar for father zezinho
You've a pleasing voice.
the dog slept with the sweet sound
You voted today? But it's July!
Incidentally it happens to be the same day this was uploaded, but a year later, at the time of this writing.
What kind of acoustic is that
I thought the slide was in a different tuning that the standard....I think I saw it in another tutorial...oh but I got it...you didn't want to tune the string...and your do it your way...but it's better....
Hello again. Thanks
tuning for side??
Te only true Is Erick Clapton play, thanks so much merry christmas
