Is it better than Chance the rappers: Coloring Book? I'm really enjoying that right now and Blank Faces should be in my rotation in the next week or so, but I'm hoping people ain't over hyping it like. Don't wanna be disappointed, because Oxymoron was dope to me.
+CIB8282 he had like 1 filler. overtime. the rest was on purpose. he wanted music just to cruise to on there as well. he didn't want it all serious. Remember, he's a party gangsta. Know ya wrong had meaning and he did it with a blues kind of tone in his voice
Schoolboy got AOTY so far. Still waiting for that new Ab-Soul and Isaiah shit. TDE is killing it and they're gonna kepp on killing it till they don't care anymore.
+Graham Gunderson ab soul is not trash. He's had one subpar album. Did you not hear his guest verse on vice city and tHat part remix ? He killed those verses
i swear 1 sub-par album = artist is trash today smh. these days collectively wasnt great, but it still had some good joints on there. i hate how niggas are so quick to rip soulo to shreds now. reminds me of when lupe dropped laser, fickle ass fans
This review made my heart so happy. Been a diehard Q fan since habits & I agree he's just continued to get better & better. I cannot wait for his next project. Rumor is there'll be another this year & IM SO EXCITEDDDD
This has to be my favorite review on DEHH. 4 months later and this is exactly how I feel whenever I put this album on. This is probably the hardest album I've heard front to back.
In one of Q's interviews he was talking about that and was like at first he was worried and didn't understand it. But then he got it when he noticed how well it worked at the concerts he was doing leading up to the album release date. Kanye really knows how to think about what would translate well for performances and parties.
Sebastian Lopez Yeah. When i first heard it I felt it was not the best verse he could have done but it was catchy and then hearing Q talk about it helped it make more sense. And with TLOP I can see Ye still wanting to make lyrics where he is having fun and not trying to be to deep and this was a great chance as Q wanted to have a fun song on the album.
Well god damn lmao, you boys seem to have struck the same chord that I struck when I was two years younger. Thankyou for your lesson on how to properly and respectively act
So glad they got this sooner than I expected. Ok now we need to give them an album to review just to keep them busy. Let's give them Joey Purp - IIIDrops
This ^^ Anthony is a perfect example of when your taking a test and you dont know the answers, but your eloquent enough to make it "seem" like you know what your talking about lool
22gopher22 on top of that he admits he's not a hip hop head, and rarely likes good hip hop. Granted everyone ears are different but I like soul music but I. Mainly. Listen to hip hop so I'm. Not going to review soul because it's not my main genre so my review will be slated
Ive listen to this about 5 times, Id say I like about 9 out of 17 tracks, I dont think I enjoyed this nearly as much as Oxymoron and Habits & Contradictions, those projects were amazing, Ive listened to it about 7/8 times, its good, I want to love it as much as you guys, but I dont love it maybe I'll listen to it more tho, to see if I can digest it further, dope review tho guys at DEHH, thanks for the early access on Patreon
But Eddie Kane tho... I love playing that part so much. For every 1 listen of this album, I'll probably repeat that part atleast 6-7 times. I'm so in love with the instrumentation on that song. Whew...
yh Eddie Kane is fire, my faves are; Groovy Tony/Eddie Kane, Ride Out, TorcH, By Any Means, Dope Dealer, Blank Face, Tookie Knows II and THat Part grew on me
Man I love when they all are loving one project together in the review, cos they all just vibe off each other's opinions. This was really great to watch.
i aint gunna lie the only shit i heard from ab soul was his feat with chance.and after that"lemme put my mouth were u potty" verse i never looked into his music lol
You've got me pumped to give this a listen. These reviews never lead me astray. Vince Staples and Elzhi have become some of my favorites after your reviews.
I need to leave a huge thank you to you guys. You have been putting out quality reviews for years. So much goes into listening to an album and the fact you guys are able to put out so much is incredible. About Blank Face LP: For those of you who are on the fence about this album, a suggestion I have is listen to this at night. I thought the album was good when I first listened to it but I didn't think it was all that. For some reason when I listened to it at night for a second time it clicked and now I love this album
The beginning of the video killed me, kinge still don't like 808's and Heartbreak lmao but I'm glad you guys like this album, I love it too, TDE are on top
Great review my negus. The thing about Needle drop is he can't say this album wasn't made for him...everything ain't for everybody. Real Schoolboy fans should LOVE this joint!
Schoolboy Q just kicked down the door and sat on the couch of my top 5 rappers today. This is his best work to date. Him and KembeX got me replaying like crazy!
Ocean Sage Honestly, Super Crip was the only song I fucked with and that was just because of the beat. Like for real though, the first track?!?! I was crying man lmao. That track had me dying
R Torres I thought it was a fun return to gangsta Snoop. In addition to the previously mentioned 3 songs, I also like My Carz, Two or More, Feel About Snoop, Double Tap, Revolution, and What If. Snoop's been killing his features too recently with Dr. Dre, De La Soul, J Dilla.
Thank you this is my Album Of The Year so far...I can pull some type of enjoyment out of every track. I kinda saw this coming considering every ScHoolboy verse has been fire (especially Let It Bang with Ferg) this album is crazy.
I got a big ass Kol-Aid smiling listening to your reviews man lol. I'm glad y'all enjoyed this project just as much as I did, going to give it like a 4th listen now.
Fantano is one of the most stuck up people i have ever witnessed on the internet or in person. like that guy really is a douche. he studies music so he thinks he knows everything, but he very clearly lacks a good hiphop/rap ear
I can't watch Fantano reviews because he's just so overly condescending while he's reviewing a project. Even with shit he likes he still acts overly condescending
I love you guys man fr y’all are the best rating albums/tapes it’s awesome keep it up I know this video is mad old but you guys bring me back here every time I play this album I just finished the crash talk review.. I love Q.. but this was a great video & I just wanna say listening to crash talk & this one & seeing what you guys are saying about both.. crash talk isn’t BFLP but it’s really good song to song if you really listen too it he sounds like he’s trying not too “ crash “ with so much going on in his life.. I know you guys probably figured that out but keep up the good work. Love it. I’m an artist hopefully you guys will review my shit one day.. Preciate you guys
Really entertaining when you all enjoy an album and pop off about it. Even though I think the album has a lot of filler and I didn't really enjoy it, you're reviews are always great for multiple perspectives. Thanks for the videos guys!
YG's album was really good though. This album was pretty good, but not great. Besides, Fantano's scores are how much he enjoys an album, so it's not really a "this is objectively better" thing.
I knew yous would love this album! I love that yous are going crazy over that Eddie Kane transition I hav told so many people to go back to that and re listen coz it's so fucking dope! Easily my favourite moment on the album!
Yea Q said in a interview that he made john muir right after seeing Straight outta Compton n Ice cube inspired him so much that he freestyled the whole song with the Cube flow.
He kinda did actually. But he says he knows his place in the relationship, and he said the way all the fans quote Kanye's verse made him appreciate it.
But to be fair what did you expect on a song with Q on some "all my bitches independent bitches ........... that part, all my bitches flavour....... that part that part that part that part ayyyy" he brought the same energy Q brought
This album was unexpected. I didn't expect that Schoolboy would make something quite like this. It's an interesting listen, the production is pretty whimsical, with really distinctive standouts. And Q's delivery is still on-point, his mic presence, the aggression, and the new things he tries here is refreshing. He took a bunch of risks, you can tell he was trying to evolve as an artist here, you can see it with the many little nuances with this album. Right from the opening track, "TorcH" the album kicks off with this unique energy, I really enjoyed the roaring guitar riffs with that album, and Q went off. As did Anderson, he gives the track a new color with his feature. The second track "Lord Have Mercy" follows it up nicely too, the whole western renegade feel to it is nice, but it's a bit too short. "THat Part" grew on me, I especially like the way the beat starts off, Kanye's verse is actually comical. And the more grimy cuts are nice, like "Groovy Tony," "Ride Out," and "Dope Dealer" . "By Any Means" is one of my favorites, I like the desperation-feel in the beat, it has a nice sort of subtle intensity to it, the strings really help too, good atmosphere to the track overall. I enjoyed Q's melodic vocals on that track, and K Dot's "Lord of the Ring" vocals as Schoolboy calls them. "JoHn Muir" has a nice beat that you can cruise to, I like the instrumentation on it. "Big Body" is also one of my favorites. The beat has so much personality, the eccentric-nature and quirkiness of it, it's no wonder Tyler produced it. I'm actually not a big fan of Tyler, but I like how he's able to inject so much of his personality into almost anything he does. And the hook is so quotable "Man, them niggas aint hot, man them niggas aint cold" "Neva Change" is nice, Q's verses and his flow on that track is engaging. "Str8Ballin" has an epic-sort of feel. "Black THoughts" s/o to Kendrick's vocals again, it's my favorite of the two from him on the album, and the lyrics are nice too. It's a good deep-cut of the album. Yeah, "Blank Face" could have very well have been the close of the album, it feels like a closer. Overall, the album was dope, pretty good, some tracks may grow on me more with a few more listens, but the whole thing is interesting.
For some reason my favorite song off of the Grieslda LP "The Old Groove" gives me vibes of my love for this album. I've had that song on repeat on and off for the past 6 months and this is still by far not only my favorite Schoolboy Q album but my favorite album of 2016. 🔥🙏🏾
I agree with feefo. I aint really a fan of E-40, i don't get the hype. I feel like you need to like him just cause he's an OG and people will shit on you if you dont. E-40 ruined dope dealer for me. Great fuckin album though.
haha i actually think his verse made the joint, it was such a contrast to q's verse and metro's beat. plus his callbacks were hilarious. remarkable! *e-40 voice*
I'm so glad yall, and everybody is finally starting to see that Schoolboy is REAL!!!!! People have been looking at me crazy for years when I tell them Groovy Q was my favorite TDE member. I've felt like Schoolboy is the most creative member of the crew for the LONGEST TIME!
Check out the Rap Radar Podcast episode with Schoolboy q. He really opens up about the album. If you think you like it now you'll love it after listening to that podcast. He said he freestyle John Muir after watching Straight Outta Compton in theaters. He really captured that Ice Cube flow.
My opinion on the Kanye verse... It was ok ok ok ok ok ok.
I mean it wasn't great, but beggars can't be choosers bitch this ain't Chipotle.

+Dustin Langley w's on top of W

Y'all have to understand how to make a catchy hit single. Kanye's "ok, ok, ok, ok, ok, ok" line is something people will sing a long with.

Is it better than Chance the rappers: Coloring Book? I'm really enjoying that right now and Blank Faces should be in my rotation in the next week or so, but I'm hoping people ain't over hyping it like.

+CIB8282 he had like 1 filler. overtime. the rest was on purpose. he wanted music just to cruise to on there as well. he didn't want it all serious. Remember, he's a party gangsta. Know ya wrong had meaning and he did it with a blues kind of tone in his voice

"running with the rebels three-man weave with the lord and the devil" one of the hardest bars of 2016
It's crazy when you realize that schoolboy wouldn't have released this album if his passion for rap wasn't saved by building a studio in his house.
in a recent interview Q actually said he started rapping again simply because he missed being creative and wanted to start writing again
+treyvorak yes, but he built a home studio to stay out of the label pressure and allow that creativity to really flow
If Beezy gets excited while talking about an album then it's 🔥
+beezy430 lol great review

This has to be my favorite review on DEHH. 4 months later and this is exactly how I feel whenever I put this album on. This is probably the hardest album I've heard front to back.

In one of Q's interviews he was talking about that and was like at first he was worried and didn't understand it. But then he got it when he noticed how well it worked at the concerts he was doing leading up to the album release date. Kanye really knows how to think about what would translate well for performances and parties.
+kooleyBear true I didn't think of it that way. I can definitely see people getting hyped to that verse at a concert.

They have a totally different viewpoint than Anthony Fantano haha
I completely agree.
Their review is a lot better
Well Anthony is annoying as fuck and his reviews are always trash lol
This ^^ Anthony is a perfect example of when your taking a test and you dont know the answers, but your eloquent enough to make it "seem" like you know what your talking about lool

Which tracks did you not like?
Big body and Overtime were the only ones that didn't really have replay value.
I agree 100%

Ocean Sage Honestly, Super Crip was the only song I fucked with and that was just because of the beat. Like for real though, the first track?!?! I was crying man lmao. That track had me dying

Yes! That grungy aggressive rap. This album just felt straight grimy in a way

Lol damn nobody ever gives Southside credit for the part he played in producing Dope Dealer. Do people just not hear the tag in the beginning?
Man, I knew I wasn't crazy, this record was incredible. Great review, guys.
How old is Kinge? He speaks the way I did when I learned that cursing was cool, like the 6th grade.
Yall deserve much more than 100k subscribers, love and blessings to ya brothers

Ken Admits To Sometimes Eatin Da Booty |Dead End Hip Hop Confessions
One of the dopest albums... ever.
One of my albums of the decade.
_"F---ing BEAUTIFUL project!!!"_
blank face should've won best rap album, way better than coloring book.
For some reason my favorite song off of the Grieslda LP "The Old Groove" gives me vibes of my love for this album. I've had that song on repeat on and off for the past 6 months and this is still by far not only my favorite Schoolboy Q album but my favorite album of 2016. 🔥🙏🏾
John Muir easily best thing on this album hands down, instant classic. Whatever you want worst track contender.
felt like a gunit track.solid shit.
I swear I keep tellin folks John Muir got longevity. Too smooth
loveddd john muir man raw as fuck
that's my favorite too, the chorus alone is too amazing it honestly makes me feel like I'm dreaming
WHateva U Want kinda grew on me, my least favorite is Overtime
the 3 shortfilm/music videos he released before the album came out were badass too!
ok! ok! ok! ok! ok! ok!!!

KORRBBIN ThE KiLlEr
kanye from yeezus onward is worse than young thug, there I said it
u need to cut it good sir, that is blasphemous to Kanye West
+Isac you dumb as hell lol
I'm with you guys. I love this album. The production is crazy.
I agree with feefo. I aint really a fan of E-40, i don't get the hype. I feel like you need to like him just cause he's an OG and people will shit on you if you dont. E-40 ruined dope dealer for me. Great fuckin album though.
It's really just because he's a legend in the Bay. He hasn't put out a solid project or verse in over a decade
Agreed. I wish Pusha T or Snoop Dogg would have been the featured verse on Dope Dealer instead of E-40.
I can handle a verse from jada but it gets too much after that
Same, his voice doesn't sit right with me. Shit sound way too damn goofy to me, but he's cool.
haha i actually think his verse made the joint, it was such a contrast to q's verse and metro's beat. plus his callbacks were hilarious. remarkable! *e-40 voice*
ScHoolboy outdid himself no doubt. subbed
That Kanye verse was lowkey hard as shit
I've really been sleeping on ScHoolboy Q, I gotta check him out, thanks DEHH!
I bought the signed CD and all, but the mp3 was the lowest quality shit i swear
I'm so glad yall, and everybody is finally starting to see that Schoolboy is REAL!!!!! People have been looking at me crazy for years when I tell them Groovy Q was my favorite TDE member. I've felt like Schoolboy is the most creative member of the crew for the LONGEST TIME!
Not really feeling it. Had some nice tracks to pick out but mostly average.
Check out the Rap Radar Podcast episode with Schoolboy q. He really opens up about the album. If you think you like it now you'll love it after listening to that podcast. He said he freestyle John Muir after watching Straight Outta Compton in theaters. He really captured that Ice Cube flow.
I might be the only nigga who is anticipating sza album
No, several people and me waiting for it too.
No, her feature was beautiful.
+Shawn Orjiakor I said that cause everyones talking about isaiah and ab soul everyone in tde is dope but I think this sza album will be a classic
TheCoww0 True
Her first album was dope and I bet her new one will be waaaay better.
Ken lost all credibility when he said he Kanye's verse was good lol
It was good at concerts at the time.
