Watched this video a couple dozen time and every time i do i have a strong urge to like this video again.. You guys need to make more videos like this.
We tried this almost 20 years ago as a project for one company we had done full wall murals for their office. It never took off, though over the years I did shoes for the grand kids. We heat set fabric medium first and then used "Pigment based" airbrush colours, seal with more fabric medium, heat set with a heat gun. On leather shoes we followed it up with a product called "Wapro" for shoes, sold here in Sydney. It was the old nitrocellulose lacquer (also used in nail polish) to seal the leather work. It has held up for years. Note we use the same process on leather jackets using a heat press to set the fabric medium.

Hi, First of all, I m a huge fan of your art. I m from switzerland (so sorry for my english) but I look a lot videos from you on youtube because you are the only one who takes the time to explain paso a paso how to customize the cleats correctly. But I also saw that in this video you begin with « scuff it » then « sand it » and finishing with «wipe it » And in an other vidéo you begin with sand it then scuff it.. So which one is the right way? And my last question is about the preparation of the color you use with the aerobrush to change the base color of the cleats. You use the color (you choose) for leather + 2-thin + duller, but do you use the same preparation for the hard plastic part of the cleat, and the textile part too ? It does pretty much what it says. It promotes adhesion to harder surfaces like plastic/metal/patent leather because the paint will chip from these surfaces pretty easily without it.

israel soto 2, I apply one and then give that 10-15 mins or so to dry. Then hit it with another coat and while that coat is still wet start applying paint
It’s a lot easier but your coats are thinner when airbrushing, therefore you’re ending up with a thinner layer of paint overall around the stencil when it comes to removing em

About how long do you think the paint will last if I wear this 2 times a week and do this on soccer cleats? And also is it necessary to sand the cleats? Would I get the same results if I don't sand them?

Daniel Minamore that definitly sounds like you sprayed a little much of the krylon spray, as far as scratch resistant, Raleigh restoration makes a great sealer.
