I own a number of watches Panera’s, Rolex, Chopard, Omega, blah, blah, blah. However I did pick up this watch up for $4000 out the door here in Scottsdale, AZ. I loved the simplistic watch face and the more streamline feel to the watch, and the 6000 movement is not a bad movement. It also gets people into the look and feel of Panerai without paying the $7k to $12k price point. Just my two cents!
I own the PAM01084 and i have to say i love it i don't have a problem with the niggles or negatives you have mentioned. The 100m water resistance is not an issue for me as if it was i would not have purchased a dive watch with a calf skin leather strap. The sausage dial is not an issue as the early Panerai' s were not sandwich dials but engraved numerals filled with tritium. I have no need for a date complication, just wanted the seconds function that the 1084 has. All in all i have the Panerai feel for a price point that i was comfortable with.
If you want a Panerai with the transparent caseback you will have to pay 8K. So this is the best cost-benefit in my opinion for a person who desires a Panerai. The aesthetics is the same. I just think Panerai could do better and deliver a little bit more for their price point.
Man, I have a 1084, same watch with seconds. But would love to get this 1086 without seconds. Love this watch. Have had subs, lots of tudors, omega divers, etc.... This is it for me. A submersible is next of course, but this simple Panerai is perfect.
so upto 2017 you would pay thousands for a watch with a non panerai movement?? dos anyone know if Breitling, Omega, JLC, Franck Muller buy in their movements?
Would you know a simple model with just the date, time, glass back and not self-winding? I can't seem to find one other than the 312 but that one is self winding.
People who buy a watch fo aesthetics might like this one, i mean it looks like a Panerai. But for people who are buying Panerai for its history and utility, this is a downgrade from the previous. You got spring bars for the band instead of the more secure screw bars, then you got a snap back instead of the more water resistant screw back. The water resistance depth was reduced compared to the historic models. I don't even know what is the point of maintaining its design as a dive watch, which what it was originally built for for the Italian marines. Granted most people don't use it for diving but the same applies for most divers like the submariner but Rolex didn't lower the specs on those. As for the in house movement, not enough time has passed to judge its longevity. This is pretty much now an overpriced fashion watch. Personally im sticking with my PAM 111 until Panerai starts becoming true to their DNA again.
I think it represents decent value in the market Bremont use ETA so do IWC and are of similar price. I like how flat the watch back is and how minimal the design charactics are. I would like to see an in-depth review where the watch has been worn for a few days.
@@neillferguson7279 they have cheapened the watch regardless of in house. The case is a snap back and water resistance down to 100. Why? Is the screw down that much more? Its diluting the brand. Thats why the older models are more desirable.
Enlighten me this: Seiko 21600 bhp movements-service interval up to 20 years ETA 28800 bhp movement-service every 5 years Rolex 28800 bhp movements-service every 5 or 10 years Panerai 21600 bhp-service EVERY 3-4 YEARS! Gotta be some real unrefined manufacturing process there, right? Or some unscrupulous ploy to milk fans thru servicing costs?
This is a watch thats driven only to make sales go up and the decisions the execs must off had to decide what price is best to grow bottom line of balance sheet and the point they dont want too many people wearing 1 must have been funny!! should be 2K at most. I love the strap though.
Personally, I would not pay £4000 for this entry level Panerai that has absolutely nothing to make a watch collector get his or her wallet out. No sandwich dial, no seconds hand, a meresely 100m water resistance and a cheap band. They are surely having a joke!
Don't you think the in-house movement is the talking point of this watch? whilst it is basic Panerai has produced a number of similar watches over the years. You can get it with a leather strap for the same price.
But it is worse - besides the movement. And i think an Unitas with close to similar speccs, while ofc not being inhouse, is way better, not even counting all the other downgrades the entry level Luminors have been "blessed" with
I like Panerai watches but I feel like there's no way in hell this is a 4k £ watch..5k $ More like a 2,5-3k at best. Rest is just the brand name. Panerai used to be good value for $...nowadays the Richemont SA group are seein' it as a growth cow / money grab....not cool at all.
Thanks for sharing ❤❤❤❤❤I just purchased my first one and it’s is beautiful ❤❤❤

Panerai...simply the best...😎😎😎
I do own one with the new P6000 movement with a second hand. It is a nice watch, daily wear, totally a watch with a characteristic.
how long have you had it for? and have you gotten it serviced yet?
Entry level beauty, cheers.
I’ve just bought the Pam 1033 it’s a great watch ,thanks 🏴👍

Interesting focus...
Nice entry level..I prefer a preown 560 for manual wind with 8 days power reserve..
Valid points. Thanks for sharing.
Snap back case. Pin bars. Sorry this is Panerai making a replica Panera themselves! They cut costs
ripperx444 it’s not a snap back case. It screws in🙌🏼
J.H.G nope..
J.H.G no it doesn’t. How to tell? It’s only a 100m resistant. All screw downs are 300m rated.
This Panerai doesnt have outer ar right ???
Solid review - sounds JUST like Bear Grylls
Is This cost 4000 pound Sterling
so upto 2017 you would pay thousands for a watch with a non panerai movement?? dos anyone know if Breitling, Omega, JLC, Franck Muller buy in their movements?
Come to Malaysia..boutique price just £3.5k with gst and not yet discount...

Should be screw in bars..

Tudor is in house and Cheaper!
@@Beck-Stein The watch above is in-house movement the variants I state still use ETA you could argue so do Omega as ETA is part of the swatch group.

I had a pam164 for 10 years didn't need servicing so I didn't take it in.
Only no brainer will get this in 4k pound ..with 4k plenty of other brand with more feature than this

Smudgebmw isn't this the 000 -> 01000 -> 007733 ?
Its the pam Zero, but way worse.
Pam Zero had Sausage Dial, 300m WR, Screwed Caseback, Screwed caseback and screwed strap bars - and it did cost less

its crazy how it went from 300M to 100M -__- whats next 10M?
Tudor...YAWN.....
SnapBack case!!! Hell no panerai.
Mmm
Why this watch cost $4000????? They use ETA movements for $19.99 plus case maximum $35 and band $9.99 !!!
They think all people idiots !!!

I don't appreciate the Panerai fake it till you make it approach to being a luxury brand. This is not a $4k watch.
