Thanks so much for this beautiful film about 399. Her story needs to be told to keep her as safe as we can and all her bear friends. I too was shocked that they can SLAUGHTER elk inside the park. I really do not get that and find it very disturbing. It must be a horrible time for all!!! Unreal! I hope you will post more wonderful videos. Made me wish I was back there again.

+Sandy Monville If you care about the future of grizzly bears like grizzly 399 please sign this petition to the US Fish and Wildlife Service regarding the imminent delisting of grizzly bears from Endangered Species protection and Wyoming's plan to hunt grizzlies right up to the Yellowstone and Grand Teton park boundaries. Grizzly 399 and all grizzlies in the lower 48 could soon be shot, skinned and stuffed as trophies if a hunting season is allowed.

Excellent production Jim. For those of us that have had the opportunity to see, photograph and fall in love with her, this helps others understand our love for these animals. My wife and I were fortunate to see her and her 3 cubs in July 2013 in the Pilgrim Creek area. An experience we will never forget.

Thanks, +Kevin Crosby, I know what you mean. There are many places in Grand Teton Park that trigger strong memories of quality time spent with 399 and the cubs for me. I hope many more people get to experience that.

This leaves me wanting more........I could and will watch this over and over........399 is an amazing and remarkable example of a survivor.......of her world and the human world.
I fear though when the grizzlies are no longer protected by law.......the "protection" which she was born under and the "protection" she has lived under will be the death of her.
She and all grizzlies are "Always Endangered" as their "protection" will be their death.
For those reading this, please understand that when the grizzlies are delisted (no longer protected).....the "protectable" land boundaries in which they have traveled for all their lives will no longer be......trophy hunters will sit along those boundaries and kill the unsuspecting grizzlies......they will not have a chance.
I feel as do many others, that a "buffer" zone should be established, prior to the lifting of their protection.....where as the hunter sets up 5 or 10 miles from the "protected" boundary.....that seems only fair.........well.........think on it..........and it you happen to agree...........please be vocal and let the Park Service.....Fish and Game......the Wyoming Officials know your thoughts on this...........for the "Always Endangered" grizzlies and you.
PS.......If you have not visited The Grand Teton National Park......try to.....the experience will be one that you will hold on to forever.

+Deborah Fuchs, We must keep our grizzlies protected, they simply are worth much more to everyone alive rather than dead.

    Hello Jim,
Impressive story and shots. Remembers us the vacation we had last year when we met you and your father in Grand Teton. My daughter was taking pictures of the mountains mirroring in the river. She dreams about doing the things you :). Keep up the good work and maybe we meet again.

Sure +M Brand, I definitely remember that day, and the weasel that your daughter spotted running along the trail in front of us. I hope she finds a way to live her dream!

+Heidi Pinkerton Thanks Heidi, I believe that there are a number of people like the man that Daryl mentioned who would eagerly kill roadside grizzlies who stray outside the parks, and that is just another reason why grizzly bears must remain protected under the ESA, because they all are Always Endangered.

It is sad that I met someone, a hunter, who will target 399 specifically because he wants the pelt of the most "famous" bear on his wall.
Wonderful film jim, especially the cameo of me LOL.
