- The worship and baptism service of the United Church of Colchester on Sunday, August 20, 2023. We had a delightful gathering of believers that began in our air-conditioned sanctuary at 900 Main Street in Colchester, Vermont, and then proceeded to the Vermont Sand Bar State Park on the shore of Lake Champlain. Our pastor delivered a message entitled, "What Are We Doing Here? Part 2 - We Are Baptizing." It was based in part on Isaiah 56: 1, 6-8 and Acts 2: 36-41. At the concluding session of our service at Lake Champlain, three (3) people were baptized: Wendy H., Hilda F., and Tom B.
We followed the service with a potluck picnic on the shore of the lake. It was a great celebration of three people committing their lives to our Lord and Savior.
From the founding of the original church on this location in 1804, we remain committed to following in the way of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and bearing witness to the coming Kingdom of God through our life together. A Christ centered family oriented community church, we are affiliated with the American Baptist Churches of Vermont and New Hampshire. We strive to be a church family, caring for each other, our community, and through our supported missions and ministries, the world beyond.

The Apostles Creed that was a key part of this service is as follows:
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried;
he descended to the dead
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
