  • The thumbnail for this video pretty much says it all! Can you really teach an old dog (old man fat bike in this case) new tricks?? I've always wanted to be able to jump gaps, step ups, and table tops but I've always been afraid to do so. I searched the internet and found a company called "Wheels Up". The following is the clinic description for the clinic I attended taken from the Wheels Up website.
"Learning how to jump safely and successfully (and land) your mountain bike involves a range of key components and constantly changing variables. Join us as we take you through a series of progressions that will help you understand all the components that will help you become a successful jumper. We use BICP progressions like the different types of wheel lifts and bunny hops and work our way up to weighting and un-weighting over a jump. From there, we will review the anatomy of a jump, discuss varied landings and practice using compression for height and distance. Then we will be ready to get jumping! These Skill Clinics are all done in a controlled environment, we provide our own approved orange obstacles as training tool to emulate what you see in the trails or manufactured jump ramps. Participants are encouraged to learn at their own pace in this un-intimidating environment. You will leave this clinic well on your way to jumping mastery - with a more thorough understanding of the mechanics of jumping your bike and a clear idea of what and how to practice getting your Wheels Up!"
After reading this I decided to sign up for the Adult Learn Jump Clinic, and I'm pleased to say it was exactly what I was looking for!! Cody Jones did a fantastic job of teaching this old dog new tricks!! 🙌 Now I'm ready to apply what I learned in the clinic to the trails 😉

Thank you Tommy! I came up with the idea to use the black boxes during the editing process, it wasn't preplanned. I wanted to use your logo but I couldn't find one, sorry about that @ElevationEveryWeekend!! Yes, using the airbags was awesome! It gave me a little more confidence 😉

Awesome vid! Thanks for the shoutout! What a great day. ALL that repetition is HUGE to get comfortable with jumping. How scary was it to hit that big ramp into airbag for the first time? Nice progress sir! Better to crash in the grass than on the rocks! Excellent video
