I love using 3D modeling but it is tough to beat making a prototype out of simple materials. Its especially nice when you can use the parts of the prototype as templates for the real ones.
Makes sense :) Also in this case, it's important to me that the expansion of the locker doesn't make sitting at the chart table uncomfortable. That's easy to check with a "real" prototype :)
You seem very skilled at your renovations on your boats. Nothing is straight on a boat ,and you have the patience and do a very professional job. Thanks for the videos, but I d o miss them when you miss a week.
I've been meaning to tell you, don't worry so much about keeping a schedule for postings. Just post when you can and don't skip bits and we're good. ⛵️
So happy for you Mads, best wishes in the new job, keep on truckin. You are a talent and a half , attention to detail is admirable and the videos are a credit to your handiwork.
Congratulations on your new job. Somebody has set himself some very tight targets and deadlines to cope with these forthcoming major changes in your life!!
As soon as you said you would open the hatch if you "Needed to" I started LOLing! I've used varnish remover. That stuff is stout! lol! Good luck in your new job, man. I'm glad we will be seeing your pooch again. He's a star! lol!
Welcome back. Good news, bad news regarding the JOB. Remember good times as well as the positive encounters while looking forward to new friends, associates with the advantage of doing what you enjoy. Advancing your personal network and circle of friends is a very good thing. Have you considered mounting the D.C. Distribution panel left of chart table parallel to the overhead? A bottom hinge would facilitate dropping it down for easy access. Panel will still offer easy operational access to all switches and breakers. Chart table real estate is so limited, every square inch counts. There would be minimal additional cable to the overhead position. Looking forward to tour next video. Be safe.
Hi Mad's just wanted to say hi and thank you for the awesome videos you produce. Love your boat and know it's going to be a nice one when your done. Cheers my friend.
Cracking work you are doing on board - we viewed a warrior 40 last weekend and was amazed at the space and how well thought the lay out was inside - thanks for sharing your journey
I love the abra net it works fantastic! I've painted 5 boats an switched after the 2nd boat and won't go back. It never gums up and lasts an extremely long time so you save time during the work not constantly switching out the paper. I'm pretty sure its not accident its the same size the manufacturers know the standard size of shop vac hoses and for the last several years most of the sanders I've seen have had that size of filter adapters on them. I love your boat work and aspire to some day do that quality of interior work. Interior is definitely my weakest boat work area. Exterior paint and gelcoat, fiberglass, diesel, electronics, electrical are all areas where I've had a ton of practice on my cheap sailboats. I always buy a boat that needs work lol.
congratulations on the new job. when you move to the new marina perhaps that can be filmed from throwing lone to mooring up in the new home berth. would be cool to see. Might even give you a chance to play with time laps. Have to say I truly look forward to your videos every Sunday and was surprised at how much I missed your personality and progress when you have to attend to other aspects of your life and a weekend is missed. keep up the great work.
Best of luck in your new job. Project Management is the most chaotic ( responsibility without authority )and stressful job in IT. Coding will be soothing and allow you time to concentrate on the boat without work overhang.
Congrats on ur new job, u seem both happy, new challenge and sad, u have made some good friends. I know that all to well, as a chef u often change to create new challenges, but it's a sad day when u go...Don't work too hard, spring is on its way and u need to make some time to sail Obelisk as well as working on Athena.....don't get ur self worn out. If u have time I would like to invite u to Pensacola Florida while u r in America...some of the best beaches the world has to offer, anytime actually....take care bud
Also, As a network engineer who has to code from time to time, I am so glad people like you exist so that I don't have to code & can focus on servers and routers instead :)
My european cousin would make a trip from Stockholm to Copenhagen then to Oslo and back again on weekends.. so I can imagine the trip that would take. Mirka is great stuff.. they make quite a variety of abrasive papers.
Have you considered putting the DC distribution panel on an angle instead of 90 deg to the panel with the AC panels and monitor? That would be one way to avoid a clash with the monitor bezel when opening the DC distribution panel for work. May also make working on the panel easier from the edge of the Nav Station desk in the future. Folks with CAD programs may be chuckling, but there are at least two of us using some form of fiberboard and painters tape to make prototypes that work.
Great video Mads! Maybe instead of skipping a week you could try your hand at the vlog style videos again? Either way, sounds like life is moving quick for you right now! Hoping things calm down for you soon. When you move Obelix maybe you could do a timelapse of the trip?
Congrats on the new job Mads and belated birthday wishes .. just a little tip when using Mirka Abranet .. use a Mirka pad protector disc .. the abranet is so abrasive it can and will wear down your backing pad on your orbital sander.. great video.. keep up the great work .. has inspired me to do some videos when i eventualy start my rebuild
I always enjoy your videos. You are doing such a nice job. By the way your power panel /monitor area you may think about a cooling fan for the electronics.
Congratulations on your new job Mads. It is fun to watch you in your videos. I aim to be live on bord also here in Iceland and is looking for the right sailboat for me. Greetings from A former colony of Denmark. Iceland
Dont buy the monitor! Just get a large display and a driver board, much cheaper and you can mount everything where you want. The monitor is also very thin. Congrats on the new Job! And Happy birthday!!!!
Man, lots happening - Birthday - CONGRATS!, Stuff to make Athena look really Spiffy!, New Job and Relocating. At least we still know ONE place where we can see you later this spring..=*^) Seriously, Mads - Congratulation from me and Jess!
Congratulations on the new job! Aarhus is a nice city! I am in Aarhus a few times per year for work, maybe I can step by during my next time in the area. Good luck with the move Mads! By the way I just got to know youre age in this video,1981 was the best year for sure ;-)
Looks like it'll be fantastic! One question though, why not provide a hinge to the panel along the inside vertical edge? Get the panel open almost 90*, still have great access. Panel would open to a position that faces the position of the monitor and maybe save some space too. Just wondering. Congratulations on your excellent progress and change of life.
I was having sail life withdrawal symtoms and was happy to see the video. Congrats on the Job and hope living abaord for the weekend will help you get more done. Cheers
So good to see the rapid progress! While I have been ill watching you make so much headway has been inspirational. She is going to make you one proud sailor!
Love watching your videos and you truly have the best ones on RUclips IMO. I've been feeling the cruising itch myself. Watching you fix up yours is fueling my hopes and dreams as well. You are doing an amazing job and I can't wait until the next episode.
Congratulations on all these various accomplishments, including your recent birthday! I appreciate your thoughtful approach to things and always find your videos inspiring. Looking forward to you making it to California sometime.
Hello just wanted to let you know I've been watching for awhile now and love your videos. you are doing a great job thanks for taking the time to make such great videos. we have 7 years left before we can sail away we don't want a mono hull we are looking at a catamaran. Well we will keep watching. Gretchen and Tad
monitors. I was just looking at the one i have on my work desk and it sounds perfect for you. only 4.5CM deep. and most of that is only to the center, so you could recess that. the rest is only 1.5CM. its a HP LA2306x LED back lit so low energy too. its end of life now, but the new model is E231. Input signal VGA (analog), DVI-D, DisplayPort (HDCP support on DVI-D and DisplayPort) Native resolution 1920 x 1080 @ 60 Hz USB Integrated USB 2.0 hub with (2) Downstream and (1) Upstream ports Panel type TN with LED backlight. And its only 28Watts, so nice for running of a battery bank.
True, we've been slacking on those videos for a while. But we are doing alright and I even opened up Premiere the other day to start editing but ... eeeh I got distracted again with something else :) But we also have some news to share and should push out an update soon.
Wow, just found your channel, very nice as I just bought my first boat and it needs a lot of stuff done :) And now I switch to danish :) Virkelig vellavet videoer du har.
I have a Meaco de-humidifier exactly the same as yours. It is really important to switch them off if there are any fumes around (like the varnish remover you are using). I think it wrecks the desiccant. Great video as always...but no Jokull at the end...sob
Always enjoy watching your patience and attention to detail.
revisiting a few years later and enjoying the fact that you are stressing about a girlfriends visa and about to set sail . happy for U dude!
Congrats Mads, lots of exciting changes! I can't believe that you are letting life get in the way of videos...😉
Thanks! Hehe, if I could make these videos with my full time job I'd do it in a heartbeat :)
Nice one on the new job mads and thanks for the video makes my Sundays brighter
Thanks! It's very exciting and a tiny bit terrifying to be honest ;)
I love using 3D modeling but it is tough to beat making a prototype out of simple materials. Its especially nice when you can use the parts of the prototype as templates for the real ones.

Congratulations on the new Chapter of life Mads. Can't wait to see more on Jökull.
Cardboard templates have rocked for years. It is easy to create good templates and models as you do... I liked the Cardboard aided design ( CAD )
Congratulations on your new job. Somebody has set himself some very tight targets and deadlines to cope with these forthcoming major changes in your life!!
YOU ROCK MADS. Best of luck with the new job.
As soon as you said you would open the hatch if you "Needed to" I started LOLing! I've used varnish remover. That stuff is stout! lol! Good luck in your new job, man. I'm glad we will be seeing your pooch again. He's a star! lol!
Belated Happy Birthday Mads! Congratulations on the new job.

My Sunday is complete now. Watching your work aboard the SV is satisfying and listening to your views on life always make me smile.
Thank you so much :) I'm glad you're enjoying the videos :)
Your video encouraged me to replace the headlining on my boat... Small steps :)
Well done as usual.....great job.
Thank you so much :)
Awesome news! Happy Birthday! Seems like everyone is moving. Alfy now you... Cool.
Moving is the new black! ;) Thanks! :)
Sail Life ill actually be moving myself to a river town where i hope to buy my own sailboat in the next couple years.
Happy birthday from a fans, from Poland
All the best in the new job, Mads. This means you're further away.... We're still coming for those beans, you know ;)
Good luck with your new job!!!
Thanks! :)
getting spring fever to work on my boat
Congratulations on the new job! The boat is looking great - all the best
I'm a CAD ( siemens NX) user but I'm not laughing at all how you do things. It's very efficient for one off manufacturing.
Cool! Some day I'd love to learn how to use CAD :) I've dabbled in a tiny bit of SketchUp, but I keep coming back to my good old cardboard :)
Hi Mad's just wanted to say hi and thank you for the awesome videos you produce. Love your boat and know it's going to be a nice one when your done. Cheers my friend.

Awesome video as usual. Its been a very enjoyable few years following your sailing journey.
another great video, hope the new job is all you hope for, again thanks for a great video
Love the AC soruce select, it`s like a hidden blooper :)
Hehe, you noticed it :D Awesome :)
Congratulations on new job! Happy birthday and keep up with good job on videos!
Lets hope the new job does not expect you to work weekends! Good luck, hope it works out.
Happy Birthday and happy new job as well. I am on the verge of a new job myself...
Best of luck in your new job. Project Management is the most chaotic ( responsibility without authority )and stressful job in IT. Coding will be soothing and allow you time to concentrate on the boat without work overhang.
Get a separate bus bar for your negative dc leads so your panel isn't crowded with wires.
Good idea! :)
Congrats on ur new job, u seem both happy, new challenge and sad, u have made some good friends. Hey, a new job, congratulations and Happy Birthday!
Good luck with the move and new job.
I always enjoy your videos. You are doing such a nice job. By the way your power panel /monitor area you may think about a cooling fan for the electronics.
Congrats on the new job, Mads. Not to worry about your 3D modeling. You show your well refined CAD skills: Cardboard Aided Design.
well theory is the knowledge of how things should work but they don't in real life. in practice that means doing things that work but not knowing why.
As a friend used to say: That's fine in practice, but it will never work in theory.
It always works perfectly, on the drawings.
Happy Birthday Mads !!
Worth the two weeks wait. Congrats on the new job! My Monday morning is now complete.
Mads, may this year be full of blessings, success, and happiness.
Thank you so much! Right back at ya :D
Congratulations on your new job Mads. It is fun to watch you in your videos. I aim to be live on bord also here in Iceland and is looking for the right sailboat for me. Greetings from A former colony of Denmark. Iceland

Congratulation on the new job. Thanks, for the new location of Obelix. I hope you and Jokull will enjoy your weekend chalet.
Thank you! It's such a nice marina :) Not posh but cozy :)
I have been watching for a few years now it seems. I really have appreciated your perspective. Good luck on your move!
happy birthday mate!

Happy Birthday Mads.

Congrats with your new challenge and happy birthday 🍾🎉
Thank you :)
Not the Skoda!! anything but that.
Also, congratulations on the new job. We love your videos!
I know! She'll be missed! Her and I have been though a lot together.
Thank you so much :)
Wonderful work on the refit, Mads. Looking forward to actually following you when you finally take her out for a sail!. Kudos on the new job.👍
Congratulations on all these various accomplishments, including your recent birthday! I appreciate your thoughtful approach to things and always find your videos inspiring. Looking forward to you making it to California sometime.

Hi Mads,
All the best with your new job and I,m sure it will work out as you planned.
Congratulations on the new job - I can totally understand the feeling of wanting to get closer to the code :-) -Thomas
Thanks, Thomas :D How are you guys doing? :) I haven't seen any videos for a while? :)
True, we've been slacking on those videos for a while. But we are doing alright and I even opened up Premiere the other day to start editing but ... eeeh I got distracted again with something else :) But we also have some news to share and should push out an update soon.

Congrats on the new job! Looking forward to watching your new adventures.
Love the design! can't wait to see how it look in the end all finished.
:D
Congrats on the new job!
Thank you :)
Good luck with the new job. Also, CAD, Cardboard Assisted Design.
However you decide to recess it, put a fan on it. Otherwise, it will cause you issues, some, worse than others.
Most modern monitors run off of LED's that don't generate a ton of heat. Recessing it into an cabinet shouldn't cause any issues.
I have a Meaco de-humidifier exactly the same as yours. It is really important to switch them off if there are any fumes around (like the varnish remover you are using). I think it wrecks the desiccant. Great video as always...but no Jokull at the end...sob
Congratulations on the new job Mads.
You once showed an infrared camera, a phone size thing. Can you share brand/type?
Awesome - I can get my fix
Hehe :P
Velkommen til Aarhus :-)
Congrats on all the changes and happy birthday :-)
Thanks! There is a lot going on for sure! :)
