I’m 65 and retired bricklayer in Vancouver Canada. Started bricklaying at 18 yrs. Had to retire at 61 and got knee replacement surgery. Love your stories. Jim.
You are a exceptional bricklayer who explains the craft so as for it to be understood in layman’s terms. I strongly agree with your work effects as to laying with precision,as if every job you undertake would be as you were working on your own house. Pride in our trade is now unfortunately becoming a thing of the past, You have to take pride in your work and yourself the other aspects of life is sure to follow. Keep up showing your knowledge on the videos, I’m sure there’s a vast well of information yet to be revealed. From a 63 year old brickie who is still working.May God Bless you all. Pete
Morning guys ... perhaps I didn’t explain correctly .. the quoins are 440mm details , so you can not reverse the floating bat , I started the face side 2 stretches so return will be bat stretcher bat . Coursing and bonding can not be changed because either way the face or side of the building will have a floating bat . The camera only reveals the side where I chose to have the bats , on the main face is stretchers . I’ll post a pic later of the face side 👌 Hope I’ve explained Have a great weekend
Your work speaks volumes, if everyone worked to your level there would never be an unhappy customer. I have never laid a brick but I know how to use a level and seeing the other brickys work clearly shows he couldn’t. Hard not to sound negative when pointing out others short comings however you did it professionally and I saw it as positive to help that other guy.
.. Nice one,.. I've been trying to find out what those lovely corners were called and now I know !.. My bloody workshop burnt down last week so I'm looking to rebuild in brick and block and that is exactly how I'm going to do it,.. Are the blocks you used the medium density ones ?.. Cheers,.. Dan,.. Wimbledon.
Looks like your really enjoying your work and that’s a massive plus! You definitely pick up some great leads and no doubt your name and expertise travels down the grapevine.
Excellent work once again, for a second I thought your brickwork was running high to the blockwork on the right hand side quoin but the beds on the brickwork looked spot on also the blockwork looked descent. Where you put the wall tie in to help you with that half 🤔. Night and day difference compared to the previous bricklayer 👍
I was taught to pull the edge of my trowel along the joint and up the perp as it ensures a cleaner finish. Not knocking you mate as your method appears to suit you fine. I do think it's a bad habit though, just like hitting your level LOL :)
Like chalk and cheese the difference in quality. Too many knocking about like the previous contractor, get it built, get paid, onto the next one... Quality work from yourself 👍🏻👍🏻
Hi, looks a difficult job , I know the brick dimensions are probably all over the place, makes the joints drift sometimes. Anyway looks a good job in the making. Please excuse my ignorance, why are you alternating the direction of the pointing on the Quinn from downwards to upwards ?? Cheers.
I’ve a couple of bird beak jointers in the shed just run it along like a normal jointer comes up well haven’t been used for years maybe for a fireplace or something 👍
I’m a first year apprentice and have been a bricky for half a year and my work is a lot neater and tidier than the job the previous bricky done that’s honestly unacceptable I don’t know how people like that exist
Yeah loads mate ..I like to stick to that but in all honesty depends what bricks your using ,some go down lovely with the hand others have to be pursued . Hope your well mate
2nd course on damp, at quoin, whole block and 3" cut, puts you straight into half bond and better tie over, those bricks are a bugger, retains dust, very difficult to keep perp on them. Not a critic I admire you're work and video's.

Difference is night and day. Top work mate.

I much prefer walking the walk to talking the talk. Your best video yet imho.
This man should have wayyy more than 13k subs. C’mon you lot get sharing. Liking and subbing to this absolute dying bread of old school builders.

Nice work fella.
Class act 👍mate quality work
It isn’t slagging anybody off!!! People pay good money to have it done how it should be done. You’re 100% correct in what you’re saying.
Great tips on the pointing up mate.. maybe do a video on different pointing up finishes one day?
Top work keep putting up more videos 👍

I would love to learn from you mate proper artisan at work love the vids 👍
people think it is easy but god bricklayers are thinking all the time, well done

What about the straight joints? Is it acceptable
Simply … A1 BRICK WORK
Brilliant fella, stay lucky, stay safe!😉
Love the pointing quality

serious job, some cowboys in there before you lad, laughed my arse off at the spitting on the pointing trowel 😂😂 simply coz iv done it myself 😂👌
Quality again fella 👍🏻
I was taught to pull the edge of my trowel along the joint and up the perp as it ensures a cleaner finish. Not knocking you mate as your method appears to suit you fine.
I do think it's a bad habit though, just like hitting your level LOL :)
Lovely bit of brickwork
An Artist in burnt clay ❤
Like chalk and cheese the difference in quality. Too many knocking about like the previous contractor, get it built, get paid, onto the next one...
Quality work from yourself 👍🏻👍🏻
Tasty work big balls, take my subscription 👍🏼
Quality vid mate . Your only as good as your last job 👍
Top brickwork mate👌 🧱 the firm before is classic evidence that your work only catches up with you.. embarrassing
Great video and tips. Appreciate it 👍

Another great video mate
Would you travel up north to do a job.
Great video again pal 👍
Nice work mate we call them castilian corners 👍👍
Quarter and three quarter or three quarter and full block to keep half bond, good job 👍
Looks vert peaceful bricklaying in the UK... Are you in Essex ??
This job is mate ...Billericay..Hope your well pal
Excellent work TB you looked at home with that makeup brush 😏
fantastic brick work, top rate ps whats ya name or monica do you go by
Don’t like the half’s on the ends of the block ties. They should be alternating from each side so this doesn’t happen
It’s alright they’ve put wall ties in lol
A nice job but never start a quoins with a half on the 1st course , end up with a 5 course straight joint and a floating half
Cant beat a make up brush, always one in my kit, that other corner has got to come down.
Barbers soft brush is just as soft but bigger, so you can cover a larger area with one pass 👍
What’s the logo behind about? Carp world????
I’ve a couple of bird beak jointers in the shed just run it along like a normal jointer comes up well haven’t been used for years maybe for a fireplace or something 👍

Super tidy that fella.
Sitting here like... I want to learn to bricklay 😭 nothink fancy, would work my way from garden wall to bbq to maybe a porch or low conservatory.
Bird beak pointing...dying art..Good job.
Nice job
Why the cuts in the blockwork ?
I one heard an old mason say never tap your brick with trowelwhen you lay them ...how about you..u ever heard that
Yeah loads mate ..I like to stick to that but in all honesty depends what bricks your using ,some go down lovely with the hand others have to be pursued .
Hope your well mate
Shut up you mug.
Lucky u took over the job or god knows what the client would have ended up with🤣🤣
Why didn’t you do it 2+1.5 brick that corner is straight joint city and looks wrong with those half’s on the end?
2nd course on damp, at quoin, whole block and 3" cut, puts you straight into half bond and better tie over, those bricks are a bugger, retains dust, very difficult to keep perp on them. Not a critic I admire you're work and video's.
Floating half’s!!!🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Yes, thats why quoins go 2 bricks one way and brick and a half the other
Abit of mesh would help
That’s a really weak toothing bond. Why didn’t you start with a 110 cut and a whole giving you a 225 lap?
We’re you sharpening your trowel with the block?yes that’s what you were doing
Super tidy me thinks you done the other 1 also haha joking bigman. 👍🏻
See the mistake. Its to replicate a barley twist. Not castlelate block form.
I can’t believe the brickwork standard that the previous guys did basically every thing wrong .......
Can’t beat a bit of spit 😆
Every time you tap 20p
Need to sort out the Breathing while filming from the boy
😂😂 u wanna sit next to them at the dinner table ..both got broken noses
Why do you say “ok” like James Bond 007 license to kill.
MINT!
Your block bonding is wrong the half should be in the middle
U shouldn’t taken that day off when learning bonding 👌
Stretcher half stretcher otherwise its a weak joint tying in to the blockwork
THE
😢
Tap tap ha
Better than colison
Haha
I like his hat 🧢
Looks a bit shity
Ffs😂
