Dean, I started life out as a b/layer, and then went back to Uni and ended up as Design Manager in Middle East for 20 years. Cam back to retire, but after watching your vids and building an extension and garage on my own house, I got the bug again, and am now back part-time on the trowel, only doing similar work to this, and I am enjoying it like I never did in my 20's.
Great video mate 👍 I was a bricklayer and when I was young and at trade school I really enjoyed learning all the other bonds But unfortunately I only ever got to do two or three my whole career because in Australia they don’t do it anymore at least what I came across but there are the same style of homes here but they are either still in good condition or they are taking down Great work 👍
Building my last build .. stone work external , will post a video once the stone starts ..at present concrete blocks internal ..love our trade ... pride is still out there ..
Nice job Dean, especially following on from someone else’s work, the only thing I thought, on from of the bay you could kept matching sides by using a stretcher say with three quarters in the middle of window , thst way been correct sides on each course, great match though , mortar too, I agree you’ve bonded this bay in correct Flemish, if customer was that ocd you could offer to remove other bay brick skin and rebuild it, as it looks like half bond with closures, which is crap looking Joe
Yes a nice bit of freehand work .Very happy to see you back in action and Happy Xmas 🎉. The previous crowd where obviously not tradesmen looking at the blockwork and I dread to think what the facework looked like☹️I think the armchair experts should really think about what they are saying prior to getting trigger happy as it really shows them as amateurs .
Great video Deano as ye said working to measurements ye can make ye cut surely they should of done a dry lay to work that out?and we’re the cut could be put Ie under sill or door etc keep em coming mate merry Crimbo to you and yours
Could you explain how you are an old school bricklayer when you was a goal keeper full time and then ran a goal keeping academy? Surely haven’t been on the trowel over 10 years?
Your bricklaying skills are amazing especially the way you just eye in each brick I know your working of the previous course but still such talent to get it Spot on like that are you taking on any apprenticeships
Lovely Job Dean your making a tricky job look easy, really like your videos you bring some good humour and great tips to your videos . Hope you have a good Christmas and all the best for next year 👌👍
and 3/4 squints would have looked better than reversed bond on the front of the bay but understand ...rules for broken bond you can have mulitple 3-5 headers in 1/4 bonds ( nash / frost )
Problem was the squints wernt cutting well ,i used 4inc grinder to lose the vibration ,not very well made so that why we had to reverse ..I will say this ,look closer there is a message 🤔
Squints should have been 3/4 return instead of half bat ,closer on right hand side of bay ,should of cut the squint as 3/4 and have a broken bond in the middle ,schoolboy error son

@@thetraditionalbricklayer9650 Hi nice work. I always use a big old Dewalt drop saw with a masonry blade to do all my cuts. Mark em out on the cutting table and bingo all exactly the same.

Conor Mcgregor bricklayer.
Matching mortar is a art in its self, right hand squints come in from bottom so can't be plumb unless me eyes are lying but doubt that 🧐
I noticed that too
Look up this guy and him cleaning the Churchill statue please check it out this guy a true brit. 👏 👏
not plumb ,maybe your level 😅
yo impressive brick laying but why are you wearing such nice clothes?
Nothing plumb about that bay.
Why didn't you Corner and plumb the dog legs first ,painfull to watch this mate do you posess a gold card in bricklaying,

Different size closures, squint corner is curved and brick faces are dirty. Average work at best. Just giving my honest opinion.
ho k
Are bricklayer payed per brick or by the meter
That bay cill looks to of seen better days - I hope it’s just dust/muck? Also the weld needs a pen touch up
I agree on the piss right hand side looks battered the squints should of put a level against them first rule when doing squints free-hand🫣
Go stand in corner ..what a ridiculous comment ..u think a man of my Calaba or the camera angle ..Jesus Mary Christ
Ain’t as good as you think you are stop putting videos on that you get pulled over
