@@PKSuperStar256Hey so ive been wondering something ever since i watched this. Do you have the Toy Story Game soundfont? I actually have wanted to see how It looks like!
@@antoniomorenovillalba7425, it's not a soundfont. The original MOD tracker file is out there on the Internet, which use raw sound samples instead. Since I have OpenMPT, it reads them without an issue. You'd have to have something that can edit MOD files to actually see inside it.
That's the thing (and what makes this so great) - the song is stored separated as a mod in the cartridge, and is mixed on the fly by the processor, which then sends it to the DAC chip to be played. Storing this entire song already combined in a cartridge of the time would take way too much storage space.
It's really easy. You have to have a .mod file player, use the mod of your choice, and export each channel. I use OpenMPT. Audacity is used to silence some channels for me.
Yes. The Genesis is mixing the channels on the main CPU and using the DMA system to move the mixed audio over to the Z80 for playback. This does make me wonder why the main CPU couldn't directly drive the sound chip though...
Its kinda cool to see that each Channel changes from a instrument to other.
You can tell that Amiga developers made it because of this...and the fact that it is a 4 channel MOD
6:42 because I love how it transitions into the full song
Basically.
This is awesome. Damn that bassline is so satisfying.
Gotta thank that creative arranger that made this version.
They were ABSOLUTELY cracked while making this banger of a track
Channel 3 sounds so uplifting
And the bass sounds a bit like a piano lol
I think it is.
The angel choirs sound like your in excellent heaven
I never thought someone else would think that.
Excellent heaven???
*6:47** The transition to the full song is smoother than my new PC*
Nah, your PC is probably smoother.
@@PKSuperStar256 probably. It's a 13th gen i5. 😄
@@_GhostMiner, ah, that's really cool!
Such a good deconstruction
Thanks!
Did Randy justice these are some strange channels
Huh?
@@PKSuperStar256 Randy Newman is the guy who made the original Toy Story song _"Strange Things",_ which is what this is.
@@jerelminter, he didn't make this version of the song.
@@PKSuperStar256 Yes, you're right but this wouldn't exist without Randy Newman.
This sure did Randy justice
0:38 this is so good
Randy Newman would like this because it reminds me like how the practice to get the song together with no vocals
I can see that.
This is like a 12' inch record version of a song in Amiga MOD form.
Huh, maybe.
I just came back to this and noticed how weird channel 2 is by itself lol
Yep, changes instruments from time to time.
nice trick of sounds like more than 4 channels

@@PKSuperStar256 oh thanks Bro😁 i didnt know that. Thanks for selling me😁
Ngl I like channel 4
It's nice, but it'd be boring if it was by itself.
@@PKSuperStar256 It kinda sounds like the CPS2 midi lead I'd hear in Mega Man: Power Fighters 2 (CPS2 ver.)

Never remind me of that again.
@@PKSuperStar256 friend inside me
Finally i found this
You're welcome.
if the amiga's sampling channels had stereo you could've basically had eight sampling channels at yer disposal of you knew what you were doing
I know that. Because there weren't any crazy stereo effects in this track, I only set them to one channel each because of how pointless it seemed.
If you thought the Sega Genesis was powerful before...just wait until the Amiga demoscene coders get their hands on it.
Basically.
An Amiga module playing in Megadrive channels
I know. And only one Genesis/Mega Drive sound channel at that!
0:39 is just 🤌
Right?
Channel 2 is having an identity crisis
this made me make an eb remix of this song and i have no regrets
Okay. Why would you have regrets anyway?
@@PKSuperStar256 because its a pain in the butt to recreate a very compressed song like this and deal with switching around with soundfonts so much
im still working on it btw
@@superdean9966, what are you using to make that remix?
@@PKSuperStar256 an mp3 and this vid.

Nice oscilloscope view deconstruction of the song!😄🤩😎👌
You're the one that makes similar comments like these. Don't stop. Thank you very much. Best regards to you!
Ngl i see him everywhere lol
I didn't know that you can deconstruct this track. I thought that you can't since it's only on the DAC chip.

Exactly, someone extracted the MOD file and now I have it. It's from the Mod Archive, if you want it.
me when the things are strange
2:40 Omg❤
Why does some of the notes from the channels get mixed up with the other ones?
What are you talking about?
These samples remind me of the ones Capcom used in the CPS2 games
Never heard of it.
How did you manage to deconstruct the .mod file? Audacity never lets me open any .mod files.
It's really easy. You have to have a .mod file player, use the mod of your choice, and export each channel. I use OpenMPT.

So all of these channels plays as 1 only on the Genesis, doesn't it?
Yes, this is just the original MOD file.
@@PKSuperStar256 I see, still the audio compression is excellent.
