      Dean was handed this team from his dad, a man who actually cared about the fans and with winning. The Chargers are now more of an asset, and winning football games is a secondary goal. He's proven time and time again that he will not pay the big bucks for a truly great coach. He's fine with keeping mediocre coaches like McCoy and Turner around for years, but will allow his GM to fire winning coaches like Schottenheimer simply because they couldn't get along. The fish rots from the head down, and this albatross of an organization will never succeed with him at the helm.

  • @SanDeezyBreezy61986
    @SanDeezyBreezy61986 Год назад +1

    "Staley was one of the cheapest coaches in the league." Bingo. You nailed it. Dean Spanos does not want to spend what it takes to bring in a proper coach. He never has. He wants cheap yes men. He allowed a 14-2 coach to be fired because Marty couldn't get along with GM AJ Smith. He has a GM in Tom Telesco who has not won a division title during his entire 10 year tenure. Look at the sheer volume of talent that has been squandered by the organization in the past 20 years, from LT, Gates, and Rivers to Keenan Allen, Bosa, and Herbert presently. Herbert would be wise to wake up and realize he is going to waste his career on this albatross of an organization.
    The problem is that Spanos views this organization as an asset, not a professional sports team. He has no genuine aspirations to win anything. The Chargers are his personal piggy bank ... his collateral. That has been proven time and time again from his time in San Diego and now LA. At the end of the day, he is a real estate developer who was handed the keys to this team by his dad (John Spanos, who actually gave a shit about the fans and winning), who then turned his back on a fanbase of 50+ years because they wouldn't pay for his downtown stadium (read: real estate investment). To add insult to injury, he moves the team to San Diego's bitter rival, LA, to make more money on something he did nothing to earn or build, and is surprised that San Diegans didn't unflinchingly continue to support the team. Now he is an owner of a team with no real fanbase, no stadium of their own, no homefield advantage, and playing second fiddle to the Rams in a town already saturated with teams. As long as he's owner, the Chargers will never win a thing.

    People don’t want to say this, but this goes way farther than Brandon Staley. There was a point in time for about a five year. Where they couldn’t even kick a field goal or putting correctly and Stanley corrected all of that.. he will them to a playoff berth last year despite a litany of injuries. It’s not Stanley‘s fault that seven times this year they’ve been beaten in man coverage on third and 15 or greater. It’s not his fault. They missed three tackles when they have a lead with four minutes to play. This team is downright cursed and this is coming from a fan. Their previous two coaches made the playoffs all of one time, but under Brandon Staley they’ve been competitive every year. He absolutely deserves blame for the defense not been great, and as a head coach in general, but Quinton Johnson dropping a winning pass, or Asante Samuel, just blatantly pass interference. I don’t think rinse and repeat another coach is going to save them. Brian Dabul won coach of the year, but now his team is worse than the chargers are so what does that do? Sean Payton starting to figure it out but they’re far from good. This team was humming under Brandon Staley, but that jaguars lost absolutely destroyed their entire chemistry. My appointment he absolutely deserves blame, but when you’re giving up 3rd and 15, your players simply are not executing.

      In addition, they scored 20 points. Yes, you should win some games but that’s not exactly world beating. Head coach deserves some blame , but I think the best thing you can do with his team is completely blow it up send all the veterans out of town on trades collect every draft pick and everything you can, start over fresh. The mentality of this team is shot.

    Where the Chargers organization continually misses is in the deeper details of the 'successes' of people they either over-pay or give big jobs to. In the Rams Super Bowl season, they played very few teams with decent QBs and they had a full-strength Aaron Donald at his very best. That defense looked better than it was, for sure. Same mistake made with JC Jackson; over-paid a free agent who made his living playing zone coverage in a Belichick scheme and tried to turn him into a press corner, man-to-man CB under Staley's defense. Failed miserably. On the flip side, I hear Jim Harbaugh might be looking for work soon . . . js.

    exactly, NAILED it. Spanos is stupid cheap. By that I mean he is SO cheap that he WASTES money by not cutting losses. He could fire staley and take the loss. BUT, then he could give Moore the interim job on a test drive.IF it works, then maybe hire him. If not, hire someone else.But, TIGHT WAD Spanos will wait until the season is over and MISS the opportunty. Then, he'll either take a gamble and hire Moore or someone else and if they suck waste 2 or 3 more years of LOSING seasons. Like you said, it's ALL about MONEY. wiinning and losing pays the same. So, Dean DONT care if they win or lose. that's why I'M DONE cheering for this team, they are NOT even TRYING to win. it's like watching the same movie over and over and hoping for a different ending. it's dumb. So, I'm DONE until spanos sells the team.

      Because the Chargers did blow it. Your QB literally has been mid all season but plays our "defensive guru" coach who makes everyone look good and just had a career game. This mf is coaching our DB's to play 10-15 yards away from the WR's on 3rd AND 1. You cannot make this shit up. Love was able to make the easiest throws ever because this defensive scheme is so trash. You guys aren't a good team sorry to say that but its true. If this defense was half decent you don't even score 13 much less 23. 2 dropped TD's and Ekeler handed you guys a fumble is ludicrous. Your team was down to 1 RB yet still played well because Brandon Staley will make even a JV squad look good. Herbert and Keenan are the only people who even bother to show up to games. Even Keenan dropped a wide open TD pass because of the "sun" bs excuse but its ridiculous. Packers didn't deserve the win.

    BTW I don't believe a word of the above, I'm just using the logic Colin uses on QBs he doesn't like and applying it to one he never uses this logic because he likes him. Staley should've been fired last season, he's an anchor around Herbert's career. Fire Staley and throw as much money as it takes to hire Ben Johnson (the Lions OC that made Jared Goff into a top 5 QB).
