I disagree. I like the curvuture of the front hood and the oval lights on the back, of the first new beetle
The "new Beetle" of the late 90's/early 2k's looked like a cartoonish version of the original, this one looks like a natural progression as if the Beetle was in continuous production, but updated every 4-6 years like other vehicles. In other words, VW created a nice (if imperfect) 21st century Beetle...wish they hadnt dropped it, an Mk7 Beetle on the MQB platform would have been a nice alternative to the Golf.
They just unwrapped my "Black Pearl" today. Drove it home a few hours ago. I didn't want to stop driving it, but I had stuff to do. Very much looking forward to the long drive to work tomorrow. I rides like a dream! First thing I did I threw a bunch of pics on a thumb-drive for a nice slide show on the center console monitor (since there's no rose vase). Gotta maintain priorities, man.
I'm back. I have always said if you want to avoid the scrutiny of police, drive a non-descript, neutral grey car. I have never been pulled over or had a speeding ticket in the 40 years of my driving life, not a single one.
With that said, two days into my "Black Pearl" I got pulled over on my way to work! It is FAST(!) and an eye-catcher, so be aware. How can you not love this car? It is beauty with balls!

Thank you for this review. I just bought a 2015 and I wanted to see how it all works since the Volkswagen book was overwhelming. There were a few things I didn’t realize I had. Like the compartment above. I missed that. As well as how to use the buttons on the steering wheel. 👍
I had a 2003 Volkswagen Beetle and traded it in for. Scion xB. But now it was time to trade it in so I got another Beetle. I Love It! My Scion was nice too but I hit a deer and had to get something else. Loving this newer version of Beetle as much as my 2003 Beetle! ❤️

I have the fender limited edition 2013, and the interior lighting button in my bug is to change the color that surrounds the door speakers and it's awesome!

That place on the dash you advised against leaving your cell phone. Is actually designed to place your cell phone and it connects to the cars external antenna giving your phone an extended range.

No cons! I just bought my fiance a 2016 VW Beetle convertible and the ride is AMAZING! It's like riding in a Buick and the power is incredible. I'm very impressed with it.

I have the exact same car. Love it but the windows are stupid. I live in Canada. They freeze shut and gotta keep getting the butter knife out of the drawer and ton of vaseline.

Only when I first bought it, it used to speak and say door open. And it stopped doing that so I don’t know what I must have hit to change that option. I haven’t been able to figure it out

About 56% of new Beetles are registered to women. FYI It's considered by some to be a "girl car" I like them. If I was smaller I would consider buying one. I am a 6'2" male. It's a cool small car. Good look at the car. Thanks MIke.
+nate42nd I am 6'6" and I driver a 2013 beetle I have more head room in this car then I do in most truck that I have been in it has a lot of room in side.

+nate42nd I'm a 6'3"; male hockey goalie and I own one. It's awesome. If I fold the back seats down, there is enough room for my gear as well as one of my teammates'. The car is also a blast to drive. Takes corners like a champ. If you like the look of the car, drive it and you'll like it even more. My teammates are all jealous too.

Most new cars don't have spare tires because they're either run flat tires or fluid self fixing tires.
Have had my 2015 bug since new. Love it. Have 28k mileage on it. Have had many cars, this is still my favorite. Handles excellent with great acceleration. Reliablilty has been awesome. Only in for it's 10k oil changes.
Couple cars work good if front two seats go back all the way back. And like Beatle smooth from front and back in shape looks beautiful and entertaining.

I got the silver 1.8T Classic. Great car and packs quite the punch when I am on the open road.
I have the Reflex Silver Mettalic version of this exact car, only I've added an authentic German front license plate, a Nurburgring rear window sticker, and the Turbo badge that you would find on the rear trunk lid on all 2016 VW Beetles. I've had it for a little more than a year now & I've had no problems with it! It's such a fun car to drive, I get plenty of compliments on it, and for my everyday needs it is a very practical car!

lenolivia Well I'm not the best person to ask about that. I live in Louisiana and we rarely get any snow, and when we do it's very little & it rarely sticks. In below freezing temperatures this car performs just fine and it can handle any icy roads too.

MikesCarInfo can this drive in snow
It's an intelligent design. It holds it's own, as it doesn't copy the design trends verbatim. I like the classic cap much better than the versions with stylized rims. It looks like a true update to the classic beetle. The previous design was too playful.

I'm not a fan of the matching white rims. I'd prefer it to be black. I have a platinum gray with the same rims, but in black. Wish I could have gotten the real turbo 2.0L.

Hey Mike! Thanks for the review. How are the blind spots, rear view, and side mirrors in this car? Is the tininess of this car and/or mirrors a huge safety issue?
I have better views. There is a slight blind spot when looking out your right window. Not too bad. My Scion XB had tons of blind spots
I think Volkswagen is starting to leak abit of the Porsche design into these new beetles. But hey it looks good

The spare tires for the Beetle's back in the day... back in 1998 till 2006 or 07? Used to come with the actual rim size of the car. But nowadays VW has gotten cheap and its a 14 or 15" donut rim >.
I like the new beetle, the model before this one, better - just the looks of the outside I like better.

Yeah, YEAH at 2.20. Hilarious! Love the car though. Would like one as a manual and a price reduction. They are way too expensive compared to a Mazda 3 2.5L which has more power and standard equipment.
It's definitely worth it for German engineering.
"German engineering" is more likely to be unreliable and expensive to repair compared to the Japanese . Ask any mechanic.

It has been good in the snow. Good tire tread is a must.
Is there lots of blind spots when driving this car
not really. I have one the back windows for sure are not as big as some other cars but you can shoulder check and you wont have any problems. Btw If your thinking about getting a convertible one, the answer is yes when the roof is on the top, however the VW already put a sensor for the blind spots. so it's gonna be ok.
+Ali Ali Ali this is true more blind spot, I talked with the dealer about this and they suggest to move your side mirrors as far as you can but barely see the sides of the car. This helps. And you can get those additonal small mirror for additional view
