Why can’t you turn this off? What if you had to get a new iPhone whilst overseas and you don’t have another trusted device? (It’s unreasonable to expect users to carry another Apple device). One of the easiest ways would be to log into to your email to retrieve the authentication code.
So a potential solution would be to log into to let’s say a random computer at a telco store in a foreign country which may be insecure to retrieve the authentication code..
You can turn two factor authentication off, and if it was on and you don't have any other device there are multiple ways to go around it.
@@matasambrukaitis9540 from what I understand you can’t turn off 2 factor.
Why does apple force users who don’t want it to use two factor authentication? Why would a company force it's paying customers into using a product they own in a manner they don’t wish to. It’s as if I don’t really own the product I paid for.
I had to reset my iphone and is now asking for 2FA. The prompt says to go to my other device like computer to get code. My computer is turned on and still no code. When I try to login to apple with my login it asks for 2FA. Every device I have that should give me 2FA is all asking for my 2FA to login. Time to switch to Android.
So how does this work if you only own one apple device such as an iphone?

I just bought a new iPhone because my old iPhone gets stuck on the on screen with the apple, but never fully turns on, it just shuts back off for a few seconds, then tries to turn back on! It stuck in the same loop! Until it runs the battery dead!
Hello! What if you sell your old iPhone and get a new one, log into your Apple ID and do not have hold of another Apple device?

Apple - making easy things unnescessary complicated. Like reactivating my apple ID ten times a year. What a PITA. Sometimes I get an option to just have an email sent with a click link and sometimes I am in a loop of "no active ID", "Please reset your PWD" and "cannot reset PWD because ID is not active" shyte. Last time I bought anything from you guys.
And quite honestly I am one step away from just smashing that thing against the wall and be done with it.
Apple's two-factor authentication works so smoothly that I haven't noticed that I've been using it for a long time. You don't have to open up an authentication App or your Messages App, it's just a pop-up
Is there a way to know when you set 2FA?
Hello! We can help.
You can view if two-factor authentication is enabled. The steps you will follow to do so will depend on the device you’re using.
If you’re using an iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > your name > Password & Security, and there you can see if two-factor authentication and if not enable it.
If you’re using a Mac, click the Apple menu > System Settings (or System Preferences), then click your name (or Apple ID). Click Password & Security. Here you can check to see if two-factor authentication is enabled or if not, enable it. View more information on this here: s.apple.com/dE4n0Z8H6v

And as it turns out i cant even turn this "feature" off anymore...im not happy.
I’m just here to watch the nice animation

Even if someone gets a hold of your password Got me dying 😂😂😂
what if my trusted device get stolen so how can i login to my new apple device?
If you have no other trusted devices, you wouldn’t be able to immediately access your account. However, you can also add a trusted phone number for another authentication option.
“A trusted phone number is a number that can be used to receive verification codes by text message or automated phone call. You must verify at least one trusted phone number to enroll in two-factor authentication.
You should also consider verifying an additional phone number you can access, such as a home phone, or a number used by a family member or close friend. You can use this number if you temporarily can't access your primary number or your own devices.”

So how does one disables this?
We’re happy to help provide some info.
From the article above, if you just turned it on, you have 2 weeks to turn it off: s.apple.com/dE4n0Z8H6v
“Can I turn off two-factor authentication after I’ve turned it on?
If you already use two-factor authentication, you can no longer turn it off. Certain features in the latest versions of iOS and macOS require this extra level of security, which is designed to protect your information. If you recently updated your account, you can unenroll within two weeks of enrollment. Just open your enrollment confirmation email and click the link to return to your previous security settings. Keep in mind, this makes your account less secure and means that you can't use features that require higher security.”
Newer Apple ID accounts and newer devices might require it, meaning it can’t be turned off. Please contact us here if you still have questions: apple.co/GetSupport
Thanks.
You cannot turn it off once 2FA is enabled. It is recommended to keep your Apple ID secure.

HATE annoying 2fa. So annoying to a non phone addict who rarely looks at email.
a couple of questions.
1. if i have a strong password and dont tell anyone what it is, how would they get it? i trust apple encrypts them to prevent hacking?
2. if they do get my password then they can access my iPad and iPhone as its linked to my id, so you send them the verification code on my device that they are hacking and that's more secure how?
3. how do i access my account in the event that my device is broken and i need to use another? So my iPhone fell off my bench and shattered on the floor and, my iPad charging port is broken. the bloke at the repair shop said it will cost $200-400 to fix them, i dont have that much cash lying around. I need to access my emails for work and I tried to log in on my sons laptop. Apple locked me out of the account what do i do now?
before anyone says that its a bit of a coincidence that both devices failed at the same time, they didn't. my iPad has been unusable for months, i just haven't had the cash to fix it.

BUT... What if someone commits SIM-CARD Fraud ⁉ HOW will this help you when they get your code ⁉
Verification code is sent to trusted devices not as sim card message
Apple’s 2FA is not through texts by default, but a notification on your trusted devices such as iPad, Apple Watch, or Mac. Before someone even tries the option to get a code through SMS, you will get the option to not allow the suspicious sign-in first.
it doesn’t work like that, it’s connected to ur device, not ur sim card
@@ajf9730 so thats meant even if my gf tries to log in to my apple id with passowrd from her iphone ,she will not recives the verification code to her iphone ,and that code will only recived to my iphone is it?

⚠️ WARNING: MAC M1 Studio Thunder Bolt 4 is not supported by nearly all external SSD makers. I’ve yet to find one dedicated SSD for Apple’s Thunderbolt 4 at the time of this comment. Manufacturers always claim thunderbolt three works on thunderbolt four just fine, which is an absolute lie, because you lose 50 to 60% of the original speed of the SSD.
