thanks marine! the time spent with sons is special. even in the frozen time. I love that the Father has given us so many things to enjoy - the stars being so spectacular on a cold winter's night in the beauty of the wild as one of them.
Almost hard to believe that you were so warm in your hammock that you had to vent...testament that The Marine is a master of the hammock. Thanks for sharing this awesome adventure!
Believe it or not. The biggest challenge is not to sweat. Pulling those pulks behind us. And staying dry is a real challenge. It is always good to hear from you P Arnold-Mora. I hope you and your family are well.
Nice video. I enjoyed watching it from my home her in Las Vegas. I have experienced cold camping in New Jersey winter but nothing like that. I can only imagine how good it felt getting into that warm hammock at night. Peace and God Bless.
Believe it or not, but I slept great during the night. I am so blessed to be able to experience God's creation year round. Thank you for watching crapseven and God bless.
Very timely and inspirational. I a few days I am heading into the bush in the Temagami area of North East Ontario for a few days of snowshoeing and hot tent camping. Like you, this trip will be done with my son. I am 60 and he is 25. The quality of your cinematography and editing is getting better all the time. I am now super stoked from my trip after watching this.
You and I are the same age. Except my son is 34. There is nothing like spending time with your children. Time is flying by so fast. We have to enjoy as much time with them as possible. You guys have a great time and please let me know how your trip went.
Great trip and awesome videography! Wow. That was cold. I backpack in the winter but the temps around here are no where near your temps. Ouch. I’ve been watching your videos for several years now and love that you through in the “why” of things. I’ve learned pretty much everything about camping in the cold from you. Thanks for sharing your journey. God bless.
I had to film with my small point and shoot camera. I tried two times to shoot a time lapse. But before it finished. The cold would eat up the battery. Whiling filming the temp at the end in the car. My last battery died. Your videos are getting better each time. I enjoy watching them. Thank you for watching Backpacking Adventures. I always appreciate it. God bless.
Fellow Minnesotan and three season backpacker. Have not had the fortitude to give the fourth season a go yet. Appreciate how you live your faith. Thanks for the vid.
The winter time is so different than the three other seasons. It have to give it a try. Start out with the warmer temperatures. Or attend Da Hammock Hang this December. There is a warm shack if it dose not work for the first time. Plus good food and great company.
Thats cold for sure! One of the best things with the cold is that nature get so quiet. You seem to have plenty of snow, ours is expected to melt away the coming week slightly. Spring its on its way 😊👍 take care!
It looks like spring is coming here tomorrow. Temperatures above freezing. I am so ready. Thank you for watching AutumnWonders. I always appreciate it.
Love it Marine! That is the one thing I love about the real cold temps we seem to get clear blue sky. I had -42 here at the house. I was out the week before working on trails for a week. Used my hot tent but surely to big for that trip. Keep the video coming I love watching them.
You are so right CSM TANK. Let alone are those blue sky's beautiful. But with the angle of the sun now. It really warms you up. Thank you for the trail maintenance. Your hard work is much appreciated.
There is so much I want to say. This was a lovely video that really touched my heart You are so blessed to live in an area close to places so beautiful. You are so blessed to be able to do these things with your son. I was blessed when I saw you kneel in the snow and give Glory to God in Jesus name! I pray for your continued blessings, and if you dont mind, add a prayer up for my son and daughter that they come to love the Lord as much as I do.
Thank you so much! I will be praying for your son and daughter. Tonight, I am meeting with a group for people for a bible study. I will ask them also. Thank you for watching Jill. May God Bless you and your family.
That looked like one heluva hump through some gorgeous landscape, Marine. -33C is no joke. I guess you and Zac made it since we are seeing this, though. That shot from the lake back toward the fire @30:00 was amazing, as were the shots of the night sky. You guys stay well up there, brother. S/F
once i discovered hammock camping i stopped using a tent. i made and under quilt and over quilt and never looked back. all of it together weighs less then my two person tent. my tent weighs 9 lbs and my hammock, tarp, under and under quilt weights 5 lbs. not bad at all. thanks for the video.
@@AdventureswiththeMarine It's not hard. Maybe it is harder for someone thats to lazy to try making one themself. I think I'm pretty crafty. Crafty people are more creative i suppose?
Great video, you managed some wonderful video in that cold of weather! I was just up there in January and really struggled with camera batteries. Thanks for bringing us along and detailing your trip so well.
For the massive some ...of 11 dollars..I bought an igloo block mold..it weighs nothing..pack with snow..build a wind wall..snow bank reflector..during winter ops..we taught young American and norwegian soldiers..how. to stay warm..built snow fences with snow ❄️ and pine boughs..thanks 4 the video sir
I can't imagine being out in those temps. Here in the pnw anything below 15 F is really cold. Btw, that thing on the snowshoe is a televator or heal lift. They are very useful when going uphill. They keep your feet, ankles, and calves in a more neutral position during assents. They have helped me from getting leg cramps. Hope that helps!
I know Zac wished he had his hammock. But he is trying to make the hot tent work so he can bring his dog with someday. While he was up every hour or so. Putting logs in the stove. I was in my hammock sawing logs ( snoring ) and sleeping like a baby.
Loved the editing! Nice and relaxing video. I think the lowest I would ever do on purpose is in the 30's. I've already done that, but I don't feel like dealing with real freezing temperatures...lol.
When you are out of the wind. And set up near the lake where the sun is shining on you. Its not that bad. But you definitely need enough down to keep you warm through out the night. Thank you for watching Robert.
I'm Actually planning my first "winter camping" experience... in my small wooded backyard! We will see how it goes but your -38F makes 10F seem like summer :) Thanks for the vids marine!
The best place to have your first winter camping experience. Is in your backyard. That was my first. And when ever trying out a new piece of gear. Very wise of you Silas.
Made two videos. 1. How to build a pulk for around 50 dollars. 2. A cool how to ice ice fishing vid that I will not release till December. No one wants to see videos about snow, ice or winter this time of the year. Then went on vacation in Arizona. But hoping to have one out by the end of next week. Thanks for checking in Dirt Devils.
