  • The Source Audio EQ2 pedal is a unique programmable graphic and parametric equalizer designed with guitar pedalboards in mind. Andrew Logan, who you may remember from previous videos, has found a unique use for it in his location bag mixing setup & sent in this video to share with the channel.
    Huge thanks to Andrew @ logansound.com - This channel wouldn't exist without the help of friends and viewers like him. If you've got something you'd like to share or talk about in a future video here, send a message, and we'll see what we can do.

    Thanks Steve! A couple additional notes: It officially supports line level signals, and the stereo in/out can be decoupled so you can actually do all 10 bands on 2 discrete channels!

      Thanks Andrew, that's really good info to add. It's great having you back on the channel too! I'd love to see what all you're carrying in your mixer bag for location & hybrid work these days too, if you ever feel like doing a run down. I'm always fascinated by how people set their bags up for different work.

    I just picked up the EQ2 pedal to use as dedicated EQ for a Chapman Stick I am working into my bass rig. So far so good!

      Hey Glenn, that's great, let me know how it goes for you. Not sure if you'd be into sending in a video for my 'What's in Your Kit' series, but we haven't had a working bass player on yet & would love to see what tools you carry to do your job. All the best!

      Hello, I will definitely provide some videos, I just purchased the Atlas compressor and it will also be dedicated to the Chapman Stick part of my rig..it apparently has a 'fade in' setting I am hoping to model after the elusive and discontinued "Patch of Shades" pedal also made by Chapman..stay tuned!

    I'm surprised that John Mayer had room for this on one of his 3 pedal boards!!! LOL

    A good option is mini dsp box as well. They come in many different variety of i/o

    Works for me. Great idea! Especially if you can use it as an insert, so the unbalanced I/O isn't as much of a potential issue.

    An interesting solution for simple 2 speakers on sticks with a powered mixer. The 7-10 band graphic EQs on these mixers are a bit of a joke.
    But hey, back in the day (80's) 10 band EQs were my main EQ with a 31 band EQ for monitors. How times have changed.

    • @DcSoundOp

      I agree, whenever people complain about Yamaha's Flex 15 EQ, I have flashbacks to doing wedding bands in the 90's with 9 band graphic EQ on monitors from the Yorkville PowerMax I was provided. Times have indeed moved on!

    1010music Bluebox, Poly Effects Beebo, GFI System Enieqma, Boss EQ-200 may be alternatives

    I've been thinking of a similar approach as my work is often in location sound, with sound for video sometimes crossing paths with sound reinforcement, where all I have is my zoom f8n.
    I usually just try get really good mic choice and placement per talent, employ the use of the HPFs and advanced limiters if needed, and the case of RF, plant my receivers as close to talent as possible and cable back to my bag elsewhere more convenient.

      Yeah good mic placement, automixer for multiple people and getting the PA a good distance in front of stage with cone properly focused on bulk of audience seemed to work for me

    • @metronohm808_6
      @metronohm808_6 Год назад

      @@beatsbyandrew Indeed. I'm actually yet to use the automixer, from what I've seen before, it tends to only make adjustments in 3 maybe 4 dB which has led to some users not getting much use out of it due to it not making a big difference. What do you think?

    • @beatsbyandrew
      @beatsbyandrew Год назад +1

      @@metronohm808_6 admittedly I've used the Dugan on the 633 more but on the F8 it might be more to buy time while I get my finger to the knob

    I was looking for such solution for a long time. Would love to know how did he make the costume frequency sticker. In the video it looked super nice.

      Label maker on the tiniest font, scissors, and a fair bit of time... 😂 The unit came with a screen cover (intended for removal) that holds it all together

    Andrew, I am in the exact same predicament! I like this idea, I have also thought about the 833 (with a limited 3 band) and also the tx-6 from teenage engineering. I do location elopements and parties on mountain tops, so size and battery life are top of the list! How long will this pedal last on a 9-volt batt??

    • @beatsbyandrew
      @beatsbyandrew Год назад +1

      I was very sad to find this doesn't want to turn on under anything but a wall-powered 9V supply. I'd guess whatever chip is inside doesn't like a steadily depleting voltage. 😢

    That's an interesting solution! I've been looking for something similar. Ideally it would be compact, have app or browser control, not in pedal form and balanced. TRS would be fine though. Is there anything else out there like that?

    • @beatsbyandrew
      @beatsbyandrew Год назад +1

      Boss EQ200 was an interesting option without app control

    • @beatsbyandrew

      Behringer FBQ100 feedback shark was also in consideration set

    • @beatsbyandrew
      @beatsbyandrew Год назад

      Oh the Behringer FBQ800 is a half rack 9-band, not sure if it's balanced, but I can tell you the build quality is crap.
