@@sero6611 you’ll definitely see changes. I got a palatal expander for my top jaw because I’m 24 and have an open bite that needs correcting through a wider upper jaw. It’s a little difficult to obtain a wider jaw around my age.. so the expander was put in. I went through 5 different orthos because most of them told me they couldn’t expand my palate at this age without surgery. But after not even 2 months in the expander, my current ortho proved them wrong and I got my palate expanded as far as I needed :) I have BEAUTIFUL cheekbones now and I couldn’t be happier. We haven’t even began fixing the open bite yet but I had no idea how drastic of a change just the palate expander would make! Besides aesthetics, I can breathe through my nose far better than before, and I’m not experiencing TMJ or headaches like I was. Very, very cool stuff
@@kellievanellie i'm 22 and planning to get non-retractive braces for my upper teeth and eventually my lower teeth (don't know if it's got the same effect as a palate expander). @@Nicolas-of6li I'm not sure if that will have the same effect either, as I can't seem to figure out what exactly non-retractive braces are online. I hope you have great success! Most people don't need a palate expander unless your palate is under-developed so to speak. An open bite is a deformity, so I assume what you have is less severe...but if you do believe your palate is not expanded enough on top i.e., your top teeth on either side sit on the inside of your bottom teeth instead of the outside, you may want to get a second opinion from a different ortho. I highly recommend avoiding anything like teeth extractions or surgeries. Hopefully your treatment plan doesn't have any of this in mind, and hopefully your top palate is not ill developed, but if any of this is a concern, just see another ortho and talk about these specific things :) Hope this was helpful.
