Vegan Burger Buns
18 buns

(Halve the recipe if you have a small mixer)
1.2kg unbleached bread flour, or all purpose flour
22g salt
45g sugar
6g instant yeast
45g refined coconut oil
750g - 900g water*
*Some flours absorb different amounts of water than others. Start with 750g of water first and then mix on low. Increase the water until you achieve a wet dough like this: 0.33
Toppings:
Sesame seeds
Vegan "Egg" Wash:
1 tbsp golden syrup or maple syrup
2 tbsp oat milk, warmed
Stir to dissolve golden syrup in the warmed milk.

I don't eat anything with added sugar. Is sugar necessary here? Can I skip it? Or skipping the sugar will ruin the texture of the buns or something?
It's not entirely necessary, you can skip it. It may change the texture and taste slightly though but it should be alright! 😊

Hello, yes you can. Just portion the dough into smaller balls when shaping 😊
How do you store it and how long does it last?
The buns should be stored in an air tight container or ziplock. They'll last quite a while but will stale after a few days. To keep them fresh, you can freeze them and they'll last a long time
How many ounces does each bun weigh before cooking
In this video I made them about 4 oz each
What happens if you leave out the yeast
The buns won't rise if you leave out the yeast, and they'll be dense and hard instead of fluffy
Is it15 minutes per tray?

We dont eat gluten or sugar. Can you make one that is gluten free?
Can I use almond flour for this?
Unfortunately, you cannot use almond flour. Ths recipe requires gluten from regular flour to work 😊
