You got a much better tour than I got! I spend about 90 seconds on the hangar deck on the hangar deck of the Nimitz in the summer 1986 when I was 15. The Nimitz was stationed in Norfolk at the time, and I had gone with a friend's family to Virginia Beach for a week. His older brother was a new Air Force doctor and came to spend a few days there. This was the summer of 'Top Gun', and I was an aviation geek from childhood, so his brother decided to take us over the Norfolk Naval base since he could get us on with his military credentials. Surprisingly we were able to drive right up to the piers, so we parked right by the pier where the Nimitz and the U.S.S. Iowa battleship were both moored. There was no guard or anyone standing watch, so we walked over to the walkway that led up to the hangar deck, gave each other a quizzical look, and then the older brother started walking up. So we followed. We got to the top, on to the deck (actually on of the elevators for the airplanes, but it was at the hangar deck level) and stood there, looking around. Suddenly a sailor came running over to us and said that he was very sorry, but they could not do tours that day, so we'd have to get off. But he did say they were doing tours of the Iowa. So we walked back down, and ended up getting a great tour of the Iowa. But that is the story of my 90 seconds on the U.S.S. Nimitz in the summer of 1986.
YOU SHOULD BE VERY PROUD INDEED! If your Dad made Admiral and has command of an Aircraft Carrier group, he has no doubt done some incredible work in his life. Very few ever make that grade in a lifetime. Thank you for your service Admiral! I've no doubt you have worked extremely hard and made many many sacrifices in the course of your career. Special thanks to your wife and family who have no doubt made more than their share of sacrifices as well. People rarely consider this, but some of us know how hard it is on service families who support our men and women in arms. Thank you so much for your support. Without you none of these great people could have done what they have done for a successful military career. We honor you for your contributions.
I am a Canadian Air Force veteran and i have been station at Barber Point Naval Air Station in Hawaii back in 1975 for a RIMPAC exercise with our Argus aircrafts detachment and had the chance to visit an aircraft carrier at Pearl Harbour, so thanks to your dad for his outstanding service since the US have always been part of the freedom that Canada enjoy as a US ally.
I served with your father. Not sure if he'd remember me. He was one of the most genuinely nicest person ive ever met. I worked my way up to the flags mess while i did my 3 months of cranking.
I was on this ship form 1990-1994, GO NAVY, I was in the V1 division, Crash and Salvage, wore the baked potato suits glad to see that she is still floating thank you for all of your service. GO NAVY!
Your Dad’s an Admiral? Cool! Glad you got to see what he calls “The Office”. GORGEOUS looking ship there! I’d hope one of these days that ship, or one just like it, a supercarrier, would become a museum for the rest of the public to enjoy and marvel.
USS Nimitz based out of PSNS Everett, Wa just right up the road from us here in Seattle, Wa I have toured this amazing vessel many times due to my family's connections and previous service in the Navy.
Nice looking family. My understanding is that the carrier has a captain, in charge of the ship. The Admiral lives aboard the carrier and is in charge of the fleet that sails with, and protects, the carrier.
What? He didn't show you the nuclear weapon storage and nuclear reactor? I am a little bit disappointed but thank you very much for showing the crew quarters and bridge.
actually, the women get it nicer since there has to be separate living spaces made for them because they want to "server" as well, and it would be sexist if we made them equal to men by giving them crap
as a fact there are a tiny amount on women on board any ship compared to men, and navy rules dictate men and women cannot share living spaces, so having separate rooms for the much smaller number of women is pretty standard
So an O-8 lives better than an E-1. BFD. You are probably one of these dimwits who think everyone should get a living wage just because they happen to exist. RHIP. As it should.
Seeing the anchor chain is cool but seeing the anchor chain dropped is a bit better. I posted a couple vids on my channel when we dropped the anchor from the Nimitz
This is why you become an officer. Aspire to become flag rank. Average of 26 yrs. service to sit in that seat. Aviator, Command a deep draft vessel, second in command of any naval vessel with impeccable record and maybe you too could be an admiral.
They focsle on a carrier all spiffy and what not because they hold church services, ceremonies, etc. there. All it takes is one anchor drop to trash it. Anchoring a carrier is a big evolution.
cmon dad, letting the girl down, coulda made someone do push ups and run around a lot, likeaction stations or something,if i had a daughter and being an admiral id get a band in,maybe take the the big flat ship for a spin ,let my daughter steer it,hell im an admiral, for pity sake,i can have planes take off really fast and such, nothing is to hard for for her happiness :)
Your Father is really a real Admiral, oh I get it He is in the Navy and likes it in the rear, on a ship full of seamen, I heard stories about our gay Navy.

I served with your dad too. I remember first time hearing "Murica from him. Cool guy
Thank your Dad for his service to our nation. You must be very proud of him!

That is correct he's in charge of the entire strike group not just the Carrier.
Gorgeous daughters! The ship isn't too bad. Looking forward to seeing what the Ford Class has to offer.
I was fortunate enough to serve on this great ship in the 80's.
Thanks for sharing. I hope to tour an ACC one day.
Brought back memories served from 83 to 86.
Thank your dad for his service.
Thank many thank for visiting.
What? He didn't show you the nuclear weapon storage and nuclear reactor?
I am a little bit disappointed but thank you very much for showing the crew quarters and bridge.
Exactly what I was thinking.
only tour i did was of the USS WASP, and that was one hell of a ship, nothing compared to the naval ships we have in canada size wise
wow..your dad must be the highest rank person on the ship
Imagine making a pass on the Admirals daughter without knowing… lol j/k. Thanks for the video and thanks for your Dad.
Thank you all for your service!
Wow your dad is a US Navy Admiral? Literally one of the most powerful people in the entire world.
Our finest active carrier. I just wish that she was still homeported in San Diego
You only saw the "nice" parts. Now go visit where the sailors live. It's a different world down there.

That's just Boss!! Takes a very intelligent man to have that rank...
you can be a powerfull admiral on a carrier, when your lady and two daughters are on board you are deffenitly not the one in charge .
The Nimitz doesn't have a escalator?
Cool vid!
your dad is so cool
Great video, thanx
4:32 I was so confused. Like why would the seals hang out out there? And then I realized she ment the actual animal lol 😂😂😂
I think this was very good. Navy version of MTV cribs. Worked for me :)
super video, happy 2017
It's the final countdown!
Excellent movie! Kirk Douglas, Martin Sheen. Best military science fiction made. What would the world be now if we stopped the bombing of Pear Harbor?
Is the dad a real Admiral?
+Joel Hulsey He's a senior guy what ever he is.
I think so, yes.
Yes. RDML White, at the time was Commander, Carrier Strike Group 11.
Rad video!
Rear Admiral Michael S. White!
Was that his living quarters or a fucking hotel room!?
Jacob Lasseigne He's an admiral. What do you expect?
This is why you become an officer. Aspire to become flag rank. Average of 26 yrs. service to sit in that seat. Aviator, Command a deep draft vessel, second in command of any naval vessel with impeccable record and maybe you too could be an admiral.

HI THERE DADMIRAL I THINK I'D LIKE TO MARRY YOUR BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTER hahah what a cool dad youve got
No explanations from him? I would rather hear him talk than to hear this generic music.
cmon dad, letting the girl down, coulda made someone do push ups and run around a lot, likeaction stations or something,if i had a daughter and being an admiral id get a band in,maybe take the the big flat ship for a spin ,let my daughter steer it,hell im an admiral, for pity sake,i can have planes take off really fast and such, nothing is to hard for for her happiness :)
Is that the reason he is walking so funny.
You're one ugly jealous bitch
cool clip best watched without the life-blood sapping "music"

Your Father is really a real Admiral, oh I get it He is in the Navy and likes it in the rear, on a ship full of seamen, I heard stories about our gay Navy.
