Hi Peta, it's been a while since I have had the pleasure of seeing one of your videos, and I really enjoyed this one. I really appreciate the fact that you always give us suggestions on art supplies to use in the books you review, and particularity about markers that may or may not bleed through on the book you are telling us about. Your colored in pages all looked very lovely, and I really was happy to see them. Thank you so much for sharing!
Hi Gaia... for some reason I can't replay directly to your comment. I will do a video update in future for 'The Magical City' as I have twelve completed pictures done in it now. I will wait until I have a couple of dozen finished to make it worth while. In the meantime I will be uploading completed images to my new art blog La Artistino. It's having teething problems at the moment and not displaying the images at the moment 8th August 2015. but it should be functioning correctly after the next few days.
hi peta ive been watching your videos your amazing and i have a question what do you use as a paint thinner? your art has a very smooth finish and i would just love to achieve that texture in mine too. thank you for your art and time
+Nalim Lorentz Hi Nalim. Thanks for the compliments. :) I don't use paint thinner or any liquid agents to smooth out my colours. It's all done by careful shading of multiple layers. I do have a Derwent blender pencil which I used on the Octopus picture to smooth out the background. The blender pencil is a pencil with no pigment and it helps to smooth out the pencils and get rid of the white speckling of paper showing through. in larger areas. use it when you've finished adding colour as it is difficult to add more colour over the top.
Thank you very much for replying so soon and also for the info can i ask you something else thou... it was until the end of the video that i saw your tombow markers did you buy them from a store or online? If so where? Cause im from panama and in here its really hard to get quality art supplies thank you again for your very kind response
+Nalim Lorentz No problem, I bought my Tombows online from Amazon because they were a lot cheaper than buying them locally. In U.S. dollars they were $134 plus shipping which in Australian dollars was just under $200. Shipping took about three weeks. (Had I bought them in my local art shop they would have cost me around $700 Australian!)
hi peta your colouring is amazing! what about a book update video or something to show how you did the other pages ? (even for the magical city one would be great)
Hi Peta, I loved your colored pages in this book and am trying to do the parakeet page just like you've done (but obviously not that good). Thanks for sharing. And yea, beautiful work. -Pooja
Hi Peta! Thank you so much for sharing your work!! I just received two complete sets of FC color pencils and water color pencils for my birthday. I am so inspired!!
hi I have allways loved these books, but this one I did not colur in but cut them out and framed them and look so good, filled nearly a whole wall with them
If you ever get to finish this book, there is of course her tropical wonderland book. And I noticed you said you love her birds, I've just finished the double page spread of the tropical birds in the tropical book, took me ages but it turned out just how I wanted it 😊
I love your videos and have found them very informative. I just started coloring in adult coloring books and have decided to save up for luminescence. it may take a few months.
Hi peta, i love your videos and i would find it really useful if you could please do one on how to do and what to use to do the back grounds in these colouring books, many many thanks.
Since i watch your videos over and over again i think im going to start spamming you with some love and begging for new videos :PP .. what i want to say is i love your coloring work and everything you make is so delicate and nice looking that it makes me want to color all day long. Thank you, please bring us more videos :))) huggies
+Andrei Gelbolingo My keyboard is a razor Blackwidow... and yes... I am a gamer. :) I play MMO's mainly WOW, Secret World and Wildstar at the moment though I've played a lot of others. I also am a fan of Dragon Age, Diablo, Hero's of Might and Magic (the latest one.), Witcher and Divinity Original Sin. Played through Star Wars the Old Republic some time ago and would like to have another bash at it.
Hi Peta Hewitt! I love your videos and colouring - it's so beautiful!!! :) I wanted to ask you, when you finish to colour the picture with your pencils, have you never have problem with smear or smudge mark on opposite page from the pencils?! Because I am using Derwent color soft pencils, and it's leaves sometimes small smudge marks... It's really bothers me...! I am not an artist, I just love coloring...
Excellent images but hate the suggestive remarks... Sigh! Why do they do that so often in these stunning books :( great review though. Adore what you did in the background of the octopus you did :)
Good on you Shahad, Colouring books are not just for adults but for anyone that wants to colour in fantastic artwork. I would love to see what you create.
+Zundie Zundapp Hi Zundie. I have my own Facebook page which is a mixture of art and other stuff. I have also launched a new Face Book page (La Artistino) and website by the name of la-artistino.com. the website is currently having some teething problems so it's not displaying the art correctly. Another week or so and it should be up and running smoothly with a number of pictures from The Magical City and other books uploaded in nice big graphics for you to look at.
Kristina I just tested them and they bleed through on animal kingdom even with light pressure. darker colors worse than lighter. I also own tropical wonderland and it does it in that book as well but it doesn't seem to be as bad. I tested stabilo and staedtler.
Can anyone please help me. I just purchased two of Millie's books and I'm dying to color them. However, I'm a person that likes to use pens instead of pencils. Can anyone recommend any pens fineliner or otherwise that don't bleed through? I would really appreciate the help
+Belicia Zenaida No, not if you want to also colour the picture on the back of the page. Sharpies are alcohol based markers and will bleed through almost all but the thickest card.
+Belicia Zenaida You'll need to experiment with whichever markers you decide to try but definately stick with WATER based markers. I have had success with Tombow markers although I haven't tried the darker colours. I have also used Faber Castell Connector pens successfully in books where fineliners bleed through with the only problem pen being a particular shade of bright red. (Not bad though, it can be ignored on the other side.) I strongly advise you to colour a small square on a test page chosen in the book before you proceed with any marker.
It was given to my husband to give to me by a book distribution rep. But these ones are pretty common here and many department stores and book shops stock them.
+reikiessence11 Hi, I'm always happy to answer questions. You can email me at peta@la-artistino.com I will be away for a couple of weeks from tomorrow so there may be a delay in answering you.

+MimosaLockjaw Thank you. I'm happy you enjoy my work.
I have the exact same colouring book! What kind of pencils do you use? the detail looks amazing btw!
She says at around 1:40 x
Can you please do a review on millie marottas tropical wonderland?
wow! that octopus is great
Please do a speed coloring once and a while
I have it it's amazing
What should I start coloring background or the design I'm kind of iffy on it what do you suggest?
Can you please do a book review on tropical wonderland by Millie marotta?
What about a light wash of thinned glue or clear gesso? Then there's no worry about bleed through.
At 6:35, did you use a razer keyboard as a weight? If so, do you play video games with it? Just curious. 😅

Peta Hewitt I don't color very well, but I'm kinda proud of my work. And the big poster my mom helped me a bit and I might post a video of the result
Hi ! Do u have a facebook page where you put your colourings ? I love your style !! :)

You can use sharpies on the inside of the cover :) it's glossy card so it comes out really pretty and bright with no bleed.
where did get the book from
It was given to my husband to give to me by a book distribution rep. But these ones are pretty common here and many department stores and book shops stock them.
I don't like it
I have this book
I don't have the flap on mine like yours
Hi again Peta 😊 I have a few questions and if you have a chance to chat with your "fans" (!! Famous artist now!) I would really appreciate it 😄
