I used to do spring (April) sailing in Boston, and one of our crew was a nurse who would bring surgical gloves that we would put on under our sailing gloves. Our hands were warm even if our gloves were wet!!

Just got this bike and it is amazing. Your video was very helpful. What cell phone mount do you use on it?

Glad to hear the video was helpful - I do love my Checkpoint! I use a Topeak ride case with a mount - they're available on Amazon. I would just make sure you get one for your particular phone size. Good luck!

I have a Checkpoint SL5 coming in near the end of Feb. I can't wait to get out and put some miles on it. I won't being going out when it's that cold, though. 🥶
I'm also getting that same mirror. How do you like yours? How does it do for visibility?

Enjoy the SL5! The mirror is a must have. We have them on our road bikes too. It prevents you from having to turn around constantly and gives you peace of mind knowing what's behind you at all times.

It’s a Topeak ride case with mount. I use them on all my bikes. You can get them on Amazon. They’re very durable 👍🏼

Great video mate, have you had any issues with the bike being a bigger guy? Im 6'2, 240-ish, but want to add a bit of gear for light touring. I see trek says max rider and bike weight is capped at 275 my local bike shop thinks wheels will be the only issue. I'm hoping they underquote the weight limit but little nervous about getting it.

Hey Luke and thanks. I haven't had any issues with the bike re: my weight. I'm currently around 285-290 and it handles me with no problem. Between me, my gear, and the bike, I'm probably between 320-325 in total weight while riding. I actually tried out the stock wheels and tires (Team Issue GR2 Gravel Tires) about a week ago and they felt nice too. I'll be uploading that video here shortly. If you're seriously considering getting this bike (or any Trek), I wouldn't hesitate at all due to your weight. I currently have 7 Trek bikes to include a full carbon Madone, a Fuel EX 8 Gen 6 MTB (aluminum), a Roscoe 9 hardtail (aluminum), the ALR 5 Checkpoint Driftless Gravel Bike (aluminum) in this video, an FX2 Disc (aluminum), a 2012 Madone 5.2 (full carbon), and a 2010 Trek 2.3 (aluminum) that I use on my TacX trainer. That said, I've never had any issues with my weight on any of them and I've ridden them thousands of miles, on different surfaces, terrain, and weather... and they're all still going strong.

@@bigfellasridetwo I just took on for a test ride and have ordered one. Very exciting. Did you swap out the stock wheel set or just the tyres? If so what did you go with? Cheers mate 👍🏼.
