Very nice Birds .I fly Budapest high flyers in Sacramento California. I've tried all other high flyers. This is the only breed that I can fly all year round with minimal loss to falcons or hawks. I also fly some Vienna with them they fly together very nicely. I don't push my birds too much and they fly 3 to 4 hours. I recommend them to any body who likes to fly all year round .
I did try the Pakistani high flyers. In the fall and winter the hawks get them all. Also they fly too long. I don't have 8 hours of time waiting for them to land😀😀
Nice pigeons and interresting that you keep them in far away Canada. In my country they are well known and we have a lot of Budapest breeders. Some breeders crossed them with Vienna Highflyers. That ist a fact that I dont like because of their different flying styles.
@@TheGroomers Hi Jeff, since Vienna HF and Budapest HF are pure flying pigeons that are used for flying in Europe, certain strains or lines have formed over time through line breeding or inbreeding. So there is no such thing as THE Budapest or THE Vienna. This is similar to racing pigeons, where are also short-distance flyers and long-distance flyers, although they are all racing pigeons. Budapesters generally fly more calmly and in circles, but I've also seen Budapesters swerving left and right in flight. The Deres in particular do this, a subspecies of the Budapests. Concerning the Vienna HF: There are strains of the Viennas that fly very calmly and persistently and are well suited for flight competitions. Sometimes they are crossbreeds with Budapests. That is not allowed, but the normal practice by ambitious breeders. However, this kind of pigeons is feed for peregrine falcons and during the season their breeders have many losses. Personally, I fly a Vienna strain that flies very quickly in a zigzag course and instead of circles, they fly figure eight loops in the air. These Viennas are not for competition, but the aerial spectacle in the sky is impressive. The losses from birds of prey in these pigeons have been zero for me for six years!!! Of course, all Vienna and Budapest lines have in common that they climb very high in good weather and good health. This is always the basic requirement for all high-flying pigeons, regardless of the flying style and the flying time. I hope I could help. I invite you to check my YT channel, there are many films of my Vienna HF strain.
@@CuMulusDancerZ Thank you for the reply. I have watched all of your vids more than once, they are beautiful. After watching your birds fly I tried to find some Viennas here in Canada but no luck here. May I ask how you choose your breeding birds to improve your flying? Cheers.
@@TheGroomers My pigeons go through several selection processes. I select for the joy of flying or the will to fly and the shyness. I like pigeons that are difficult to catch in the loft. These are also the agile ones in the air with the fastes reaction. Pigeons, which can be easily removed by hand from the perch, also become easy prey outside. In the end, of course, I pay attention to the flight altitude. The will to climb high is genetically fixed. Everything that comes down earlier is sorted out. Sometimes I also make individual releases to check whether the individual pigeon climbs up or prefers to fly around below. Breeding like this for years establishes a good flying strain that gives falcons a headache🤕
