The movie "Gamer" as a bit of concept similarity to these, in that technology has been developed to allow a human to teleoperate a body other than his or her own. It differs in that the body used is human. In XChange, human minds are temporarily transferred into artificial bodies for dangerous or difficult labor. The implications of body swapping technology are also explored with considerable imagination.
These movies are similar, but at the same time they are different. As mentioned by all of you, the 1st movie, Avatar is organic & t is also spiritual, with the purpose of being one with nature, connected with the environment. The other one, surrogates is a commodity, it was leasure, it was industry, technology, social advancement throught science, but it created an unnatural environment that disconnected the individual from their own surrounding, their environment. The people from Surrogates became lazy, disconnected one from the other. It was like the people from Surrogates were playing a video game, controlling an automaton at their will & desire to fulfill their daily errands & duties. However, Avatar is completely different in regard to Surrogates in that matter. The word Avatar means a manifestation. In Hinduism it was a deity taking corporeal form from the etherial to be able to interact with mortals. None the less it is a manifestation. In the case of Avatar, it was necessary for Jake to take that form. Jake was in a foreign planet, meaning he was the alien in that planet. Pandora is a very hostile environment for humans. If the air that you breath doesn't kill you in Pandora, the beasts, or the natives will fulfill the job of disposing of you. It was necessary for humans to create a biological manifestation of themselves to be able to interact with the Na'vi. They had no choice, but to manifest organically to the Na'vi in that fashion & way. The problem with humans in Pandora is that all of the are disconnected to nature, & thus they are willing to destroy the planet they have invated. Jake learned through the Na'vi to appreciate the beauty of nature itself, & thus he came to the understanding that the Na'vi were connected directly to nature, being one with nature. Contrasting Avatar to Surrogates, although similar, Surrogates show an already enslaved humanity to technology, to the point that they were completely disconnected from reality. The character that Bruce Willis interpreted discovers that the system is causing harm to humanity, instead of a greater good to the collective. The message on both is quite simple, we are part of nature, we are also part of this planet. We cannot disconnect ourselves from reality as much as we want to. The individual i forced to acknowledge that there is a reality that surround us in which we live on. The individual is responsible for taking care of herself/himself, as well as taking care of the environment that surround us. The teaching here is that we are capable of destroying both ourselves& the environment if we are not responsible & become careless. The main character from Avatar learned to care about the environment & adopted it as his new home, renouncing his old self & transferring his consciousness into a new vessel. He killed his humanity to become Na'vi, & become one with nature. Bruce Willis character on the other hand learned to love himself & accept reality as it is, both the good & the bad, & only then he became free from his mechanical prison, he was able to free himself from his Surrogate. That's the main difference, Jake became his Avatar by dying as a human & transferring his soul, his essence, his consciousness into the Avatar, only then Jake truly became free from his condition.
avatar is common soldier goes native story ( last samurai , dances with wolves , ferngully ) , surrogates is more man vs himself only similarity is the artificial bodies thanks

@@py16667 Not really. Their "Big Lebowski" reaction came out about the same time as Duaffy's, yet theirs has over twice as many views as hers. Also, their "Predator" reaction from just a few months ago has over 300K views; none of Duaffy's videos have over 300K views. 🤔 Prior to about 8 months ago, Duaffy's reactions (to movies, anyway) would usually surpass 10K in just a day or two. Now it seems to take them a lot longer. She's lost over 100 Patrons in that span of time as well... and I have no idea why. 🤷♂️
@@ComeOnIsSuchAJoy I’m not comparing duaffy’s channel to theirs, I’m saying diegesis‘s recent uploads have been getting way less views than they used too, about the time when they saw Endgame & people got upset they’re skipping movies in the MCU timeline, that could be why, but I also see tons of their subs don’t like Chad as well
