This actually has a purpose in smithing: The beat of the song regulates the beats of the hammer, and if you have a specific song for a specific blade, then quenching at say, the end of the second chorus and reheating for another verse and refrain afterwards will produce what has historically been the best results for that blade. I think the method is Jomon? The Ironsands of Japan are quite poor quality Iron, so a method like this that is known to work well, would be extremely useful.
@@ProperDaveXD001 Even then, the more you think about it the more it makes sense: It's a craft you can't rush nor can you wait since the metal's properties change as it cools down, so that'd give a good measure of rhythm and durations. You could even expect songs to have been written for this exact purpose if that's true, wouldn't be crazy.
Indeed, lower quality iron (pig iron as some call it) had to be heated and worked many times before it would be pure and dense enough to be used for something like arms, armour, or even building materials; it makes sense intuitively that working the metal in a proper rhythm would yield more consistent results as well as be more efficient over time. This is also the basis for the "katana folded over 1000 times" meme, it's not so much that folding it a thousand times makes it automatically superior to other swords of fewer folds, its more like if you didn't fold it enough times it would just crack and/or shatter as soon as it hits something harder, ie steel made from high quality, low carbon iron. But anyway... back to listening to this banger of a song.
I gotta say. For as many incredible action scenes Shangri-La Frontier gave us with this season, amazing battles with great animation, immersive scenarions into a gaming ambience, and usage of gaming mechanics to overpower the system, this was the scene that stuck with me the most. This scene is something I've never experienced before. I never saw a scene like this before, a truly unique experience like nothing before. I'm completely speechless with how amazing it is and feels.
There’s a lot more scenes like these in movies rather than anime. Not with the same context of course but with just no dialogue and pure cinema experience

You know what, it just occurred to me just the level of special treatment that Sunraku is receiving from the game with this. Sunraku is the only person out of presumably millions of players who has heard this song. The game developers made the song specifically for Sunraku or any other player who represented the .001 percent of players I guess the game considered to be a very cream of the crop of players. The idea of unique quests that a very small percentage of players could access is an interesting idea and could be the stuff of gaming legends. While I see your point, I think that would sadly kill the game if ever implemented in Genshin. It'd be one thing if this was implemented into a game where you just buy it once or at most pay a monthly sub to keep playing. But in a game with Gacha elements where you can give money for better results (New characters and stronger weapons and more resin for more artifact attempts), that'd create an environment where players would feel forced to pay money to reach the level of other high-end players. One of the many reasons Genshin has avoided falling off is the lack of a PVP feature. With no players to compete against, F2P and slow spender games don't actually feel like they're behind, allowing them to enjoy the game without truly feeling a power creep unless they try and compare themselves to other players doing Abyss etc. Bringing such a feature would destroy this harmony, and break all good will players have with the company. TLDR: Don't think it's a good idea. People would feel forced to P2W and burn out due to the possibility of throwing money at the screen.

It would only work in a single player game for game balance reasons. Look at WoW they tried to have faction specific classes, and even then it was something that was completely open. Ultimately that went away for balance reasons. Having unique quests for just the top players would result in huge balance issues, unless it is basically unique based on the scenario and not the perks.
@@Teampegleg I think something like that only fits the fictional premise of a full body immersion vr game like shangrila frontier is where with your own skill and how well you move enables you to take on much stronger enemies, much like Sunraku that took on enemies of level 80 while he himself at that time was about, 20-30 at the trials. What makes a masterpiece? Is it how good something looks? How it sounds? Is it in the writing or the reading? Is it in the emotions it pulls from you? No A masterpiece is all this and more. It is effort and hope and love and care. When you truly put everything you are into the making of a thing. That is a masterpiece. This scene is the culmination of artists, writers, voice actors, and sound designers putting everything they have into a scene not even 10 minutes long. And what for? In 20 years barely anyone will remember this show. In 40 you might not even be able to watch it anymore. Why? Cause it meant something to them. Because they loved what they did. Because they cared. This is a masterpiece.
A song with a consistent rythm i imagine would actually be quite useful to a blacksmith as a source of focus and pacing. Its important to not be too harsh or soft with the blows and to maintain a good enough pace so the metal stays hot long enough to be forged into shape
Seeing this scene I only felt chills. Pure epicness. It reminded me of the songs of the dwarves from Lord of the Rings. The Boss has risen to the highest levels of power, just the image of him hitting the hammer with this song conveys nothing but epicness
Always loved that a blacksmith/ forge master always showed to have a steady pace hand, and focus. This just shows that and more with this lovely song. ❤❤❤

The song here gives a "Dwarven" vibe about a story of love/passion with each clang of the hammer, while creating a masterpiece. A story of loss and love.
First time seeing this on CR it had NO subtitles. Sitting there, watching it, I'm thinking "Just by the FEEL of the anime, I'm missing something here." I just LOVE it when an anime reaches out and grabs your brain and just freezes everything but your eyes. Truly Outstanding animation.
Early fantasy books were full of songs sung at different occasions, by pretty much everyone and not just bards. This scene feels very nostalgic for a reason.
Blacksmithing is the purest form of magic and alchemy... the will and determination to give birth to spmething new. using the elements. the strong willed metal from earth. the heat and temperament of the greedy flame dependend on the changing nature of air, fueld by the cycle of birth and death of wood wich ash helps new trees to grow of flame, wich breath the air, and then the work temperd in water, wich is strenghing everything that lives
I have never worked a forge but... i suddenly felt a peace yet MASSIVE URGE to try and understand his passion. That is how much emotion i felt from this and i love it! Although a character you can feel the care and attention he takes with each strike like the song and work are a experience that he is cherishing with each loving strike to bring forth thier truest form to the surface.
"In the dark night sky, the flame of the furnace. A spark is born, and the darkness licks it away. A dancing hammer, a singing iron. Tonkarakan, konkinkan. You are the blade, you are the power. Come out of the earth and kindle the wood. Cultivate fire, forge metal, and cool it with water. The world goes around, but then becomes stagnant. Iron over gold, steel over iron, blades over steel, and swords over blades. The shine of a sword in the dawning night sky. .Reflect the light and cut through the darkness. Sing to the dancing sword, the world."
This song was awesome, itself, and it led me to The Hammer and the Anvil by The Longest Johns. I had to come back and give my thanks for that, as well as recognition for this. Thank you.

A masterpiece is all this and more.
And you know the worst part? The anime, despite being as fantastic as it is. Released in a season with such strong competition.
Ok you digged too dang deep
Adding him to my favorite characters on MAL right now!
Ive been waiting for this Scene since the anime started and I’m so glad they did it justice🙏🏼
A song with a consistent rythm i imagine would actually be quite useful to a blacksmith as a source of focus and pacing. Its important to not be too harsh or soft with the blows and to maintain a good enough pace so the metal stays hot long enough to be forged into shape
I knew someone had this part already after the episode released lol
Already downloaded and on repeat!
Seeing this scene I only felt chills. Pure epicness. It reminded me of the songs of the dwarves from Lord of the Rings. The Boss has risen to the highest levels of power, just the image of him hitting the hammer with this song conveys nothing but epicness
Can't get enough of this scene. Love how they even added the hammer bounce with each strike.
“You are blade, you are power”
Man what a badass song xd remind me of a old culture rhythm song from a old tales
This is one of those moments that an animation medium is superior to a static book medium
I’m so glad the English dubbed version hadn’t caught up while I was watching this part. Idk if they can do it Justice but golly this is majestic.
Nope, no dub this time
Yea in the dub they just left the song as is (kinda expected them to dub it with the quality of the rest of the anime)
@@aceharmony4105oh that kinda sucks
He's got long ears for a dwarf, but what the hell, we'll take him. Rock and Stone!
Rock and stone, and he can drink with the best of us!
This scene had me tearing up☺️, absolutely EPIC
Japan: “Come on guys, we gotta show Larian Studios they’re not the only one that can do a banging song in a Fantasy setting.”
Imagine the most iconic weapons like the Buster Sword or Dragonslayer being forged while hearing this song.
Next time I re read Berserk, defiantly blasting this
Wish this were done in a game when a blacksmith crafted a legendary end game content. Like the legendary hero's sword
Legend says when a blacksmith sings that hes putting part of his soul into the piece
Always loved that a blacksmith/ forge master always showed to have a steady pace hand, and focus. This just shows that and more with this lovely song. ❤❤❤
This song litterally sends chills, but in a good way. It’s so epic I love it!
I freaking love this character more every episode.
I couldn't say anything when I saw this i just stood quiet while he was singing and it was so amazing to see something like this a true blacksmith at work is amazing to see
Is it bad that this not just gave me chills but also put me in tears for being so good?😢
There has to be a game that features this song while doing this exact same thing that Vysache was doing? If not, then everyone send a request to all game companies to create a game and not only have this song included in the game, but to have a character similar to Vysache doing a blacksmith work while singing
Well in ffxiv you can make a bunny class and blacksmithing is a job so that would get you close
@@karas200 not quite, I meant a scenario where you get to hear that song while a blacksmith is making a weapon
this entire series has perfected what it feels like to play a good game. fuck i love this song
As a blacksmith I 200% approve
It may be a simple song but there is heart, soul and power behind it. Yeah I got goosebumps from listening then watching and they have nothing to do with it being cold this morning.
Hands down the best scene of all anime all season.... Such a great moment.

i typed that my self so dont take it as correct but i belive its very close
Everytime i have extreme goosebumbs when i sing to it
I watched this and dam it hits thank you to the voice actor and the person who wrote it thank you for posting it!
The first time I saw this episode when it was released I was baffled and amazed on how beautifuly composed this music was and it also kinda reminds me of we all lift together
This scene left me in tears
Cant wait for this Dubbed I already feel this song in my vorpal soul hopefully the pick the right voice I haven't watched any of the dubbed episodes yet
I don’t think an English singer could do it better than he did. Maybe some that are very dedicated but I watched this wayyy too many times 😂 it’s so good that this felt criminal to listen to in an anime scene
His dub is the guy who does ains al gown in overlord. So a perfect match. From what I can see is the dub is 2 weeks behind.
@@blitzingsteel6587 OMG THAY IS SO FITTING
The song here gives a "Dwarven" vibe about a story of love/passion with each clang of the hammer, while creating a masterpiece. A story of loss and love.
The sound of someone with a true Vorpal soul. 😆
Turns out a vorpal soul just means you're secretly a dwarf.
I can agree. I find myself either humming something or straight singing something when I'm forging
Early fantasy books were full of songs sung at different occasions, by pretty much everyone and not just bards. This scene feels very nostalgic for a reason.
Bunny Daddy is dropping some Viking beats and forging one of his best and finest blades in bunny history
I need this on Spotify rn, i didn't expect this anime to be this f ing good , probably the best one this season
Saw this vid and been binging this show all day. Thanks for bringing it to ny attention
Listen to the song from the beginning but have your eyes closed its such a beautiful experience, this scene is definitely a 100/10
They made the animation simple with repetitive and stoic movement in this scene but it works well since it is still a game
0:38 is my fav part
Mine is 1:35
Gives me chills every time, and the strong urge to pick up my hammer again and start from scratch
Vysache already was my favourite character of this anime but with that he got ahead even further.
I'm at episode 13 and so far nothing beat that scene!
One of the best scenes of the entire year.
As a guy who did blacksmithing... i can vonfirm this is how much of a chad you feel yourself during blacksmithing
this is what i most love of anime, you cant hear songs on manga so when it gets to be animated its so fricking magical
This one scene is more impactful than everything else in the series thus far.
I want to hear this everyday
Same man
I have never worked a forge but... i suddenly felt a peace yet MASSIVE URGE to try and understand his passion. That is how much emotion i felt from this and i love it! Although a character you can feel the care and attention he takes with each strike like the song and work are a experience that he is cherishing with each loving strike to bring forth thier truest form to the surface.
Definitely one of the most badass moments in all of anime
It's a friggin' blacksmith's waltz, it's in either 3/3 or 6/6, I can tell by the feel of the whole thing, and I am loving it all the more for it.
Sounds like 6/6 with him hammering on the 1.
I haven't even seen the anime yet and the more i listen to this the higher it becomes on my watch list
"In the dark night sky, the flame of the furnace.
A spark is born, and the darkness licks it away. A
dancing hammer, a singing iron.
The shine of a sword in the dawning night sky. .Reflect
the light and cut through the darkness.
Sing to the dancing sword, the world."
I really hope that when the English dub version releases they keep this part original 🙏
This song was awesome, itself, and it led me to The Hammer and the Anvil by The Longest Johns.
I had to come back and give my thanks for that, as well as recognition for this. Thank you.
One of my DnD players just sent this to me with no context. I am entranced!
This track is just gorgeous!
We All Came From A Great Fireplace And We Well All Go Back To The Ashes From Once’s We Came From.
There's something about the clang of hammer against steel and anvil that you can't disguise as anything but powerful
I was looking for this song immediately after watching this episode. I told my wife I at least want 15 episodes this season and probably no less than 5 to 10 season all about 15 episodes long .
This season is actually 24 episodes iirc
@@average_nut I really hope there is going to be more seasons after this one.
Honestly my favorite part about this is that it makes you realize this is a living, breathing world. But players still treat it as just a game to beat. Meanwhile all the viewers would kill to get a game this in depth lol.
For some reason this song makes me cry and I can't explain this😢
im so happy this is here, i was watching it and was like "i hope i can find this later"
I just noticed a cool little detail: on each hit, the hammer does a small bounce, with the recoil of the impact
this anime perfectly balances the anime aspect of the show with gaming aspect of the show, very very impressive.
The man singing is named Akio Otsuka. His many roles include Blackbeard (One Piece), Daisuke Jigan (Lupin the Thrid), Solid Snake (Metal Gear), Batou (Ghost in the Shell).
This almost brought a tear to my eye. As a lover of a fantasy world build up, this song made me feel as good as when I hear a song from the Middle-Earth books.
scenes like this are really where animation shine
He is Iskandar, isn't he....
He surely finds me when most needed
I can't stop watching this. I've watched this at least a dozen times today. This alone is making me want to watch this series.
This is essentially just a scene of a dude singing while banging away with a hammer but there is something so captivating about it
Just saw this scene, man i got goosebumps
