...which Crimson got from Steve Reich. Here's a phase piece by Reich ( _Piano Phase_ 1967): ruclips.net/video/6MArl7T-_As/видео.html Seeing/hearing phase music performed live is mind bending!
Marshall Cello that was incredible. I just watched a live performance of it and I can’t imagine the concentration and control needed to perform that. I’d argue this a different concept though since it’s two identical parts phasing against each other, rather than two slightly different really riffs in different times signatures. Definitely the same effect sonically, so I could see how it would’ve inspired king crimson!
@@mitchellkorbach3356 actually Frame By Frame is two identical parts; one just regularly drops a note, whereas the intronaut one is more involved! I agree the phase music is insane. I saw it performed on marimbas once and it seemed impossible - like inhuman. How they could hold onto their part with the other part BARELY changing? It’s a pretty wild skill. Tony Levin draws from the same toolkit (again, to a “less advanced“ degree than Reich) but it’s still quite cool. In _The Sheltering Sky_ from the same Crimson album he’s always early - it’s pretty neat and hard to do.
The inner circle and the outer circle visual diagram on the vídeo is amazing, this visual reference on the Composition has a close reference to the cover art on «Discipline» of KC. I found this «Compositional program" similar to a Gamelan Gordian Knot who has a bizzare latin beats, for me is evident on «The sheltering sky". I'm a visual artist, i still not have a profesional formation on music aprecciation, but i'm truly obsesed with geometry, color and Composition, this Chanel blow my mind away because is an extreme invitation to be a reflexive listener. I've catched here for «Tetragramaton» (of TMV) estudy and the explanation of the first riff from "bleed" of Messhugah, now this, Intronaut on the third view. Shure i would bee looking the content with much attention. I have to ask for an analisys of some track on the album «THRAK» of King Crimson, i have to say i've looking for long time a review in this perspective because - maybe i'm grong- this album is the concretion of those compositional program on a heavy orchestrated way. Maybe «Vroom» ir «Vroom vroom" or the blast maths on «sex, sleeep, eat, drink, eat. The production an the double trio making noise on te left /right earphones has a lot of geometry and polirythmic voids. Saludos desde México and sorry for my bad wrtting i have to study and practice, but i need to wrote that. Thanks for the work on the channel and the active listeners who interact and support in the coments. Seguiré escuchando!
Great video! I think the influence of this section could be from King Crimson, on Frame by Frame they have a really cool part at aprox one minute into the song where they have the same basic idea. Both guitars play the same notes but in different time signatures which creates the cool phasing/echo effect.
I love your channel. I've been binging every video you've made, starting with the btbam "lay your ghost to rest" analysis. I hope your channel explodes onto the scene. Can you do an analysis of some of Ion Dissonance' riffs from "breathing is irrelevant" (their first album)? I've always wondered what analysis of that sort of music would look like.
I'm going to start describing Meshuggah as a "no take it easy" band from now on. Also I'd love to know what in the world is happening at the end of Digital Gerrymandering. I can play the whole song except the outro because I can't understand it.
Love your videos! Not sure if you know Yogev Gabay, but both of your video styles are very similar! Informative, detailed, helpful animations! Would love to see a collab!
Best channel on RUclips. Hands down.
Loving the videos man, keep it up
Thanks!
very fascinating
This particular guitar interplay makes me think of king crimsons frame by frame. Same type of concept going on here.
Exactly what I thought when I first heard it. Love hearing their influence in modern metal.

Rare to find a great channel like this. Keep up the great content!
Intronaut never receives any attention lol thanks for the videos man they're great!
I know, but their stuff is solid gold from start to finish! One of my favorite live bands too.
@@metalmusictheory5401 still haven't had a chance to see them in person 😭 one day!!!
@@metalmusictheory5401 I discovered them live. My jaw was on the floor. I bought Habitual Levitations on my way out of the show.
This was great man thanks for taking the time do this.
As always perfect content, perfect explanation! Great job! Thanks!
_Tus vídeos de análisis musical son geniales congratulations_
Thank you!

Don't know him personally but I'm a fan of his stuff too!
You have to check out the song In this Life by Virgil Donati very interesting beginning and untrusting polymeter changes .
this explanation is awesome. Could you do a video on Intronauts chord work?
nice shirt brother
hmmm...human music, i like it
