the yellowfin tuna in that part of the country must fight different because if you were to hook a tuna that size in southern california you would be guaranteed to get spooled on that kind of tackle

Do you know what rig you caught this on and if it was West, South, or East? Looks like it could be the Medusa rig to me but I haven't fished there in the last year, so I can't be sure

hay blair is there a big difference between the 7'9 and the 8'0 rods
+Brandon B 8 footer is just a little bit heavier. When I'm fishing for big fish, I go with the 8. Any other time I go with the 7'9".
what reel are you using, and do they make a medium fast action write and magill 10-20 lb 8' rod that I could put through its paces on 50 lb king salmon?? west coast

+jason campbell yes, barracuda will eat surgical tubing rigged with treble hooks. Just get it in front of them and they will strike!
