Bug net for your head, bug spray, ground sheet for the tent, hiking poles, camp chair, lightweight shoes for around camp, hand warmers, water bottles (Nalgene), water filter, plastic bags to keep water filter in your sleeping bag at night to prevent freezing, water purification tablets, stove wind guard, phone with GPS plus paper map in waterproof sleeve, compass, fire starter ferro rod as a spare, first aid kit, wet wipes, toilet paper, cutting board, coffee mug, long spoon, face mask, sleeping mattress repair kit, Duct tape, reading material or movies to spend the night hours. Lots of snacks for on the trail!! Everything that you are currently taking is also necessary but I would also carry the items that I have listed as well. Good luck!! Hope you enjoy the trip!!

Dan consider adding a first aid kit, tabasco sauce(a must for rat pack meals!!) and a bivi bag. I would put the mats and sleeping bag inside the bivi. You'll be warmer and less chance of sliding off. Everything else looks covered👍👍

Regards pillows I bought a carping pillow case off eBay and simply stuff my fleece in it👍
Always carry a bit of bicycle inner tube.Great tinder even wet.A flint striker and flares, smoke flares if you can afford.
Also an aluminium foil blanket as a last resort. If you are going remote.
Always consider your worst case scenario and pack accordingly.

Can't have enough Waterproof bags. Put clothes into Waterproof bag then put them inside the larger one.
Hand warmers chuck them into dos bags at night or get hot water bottle.
    First aid kit.
Waterproof spray or polish for boots if your doing some walking get them dubbed up.
Walking poles, helps if you break tent poles.
Water purification filter helps cut down on weight that you need to hump.
    Atb

Cracking video Dan, always love a good… what’s in my bag video. Definitely better to take things and not need them than the other way round. When you add food and water your pack weight will be pretty heavy but all good if you can manage the weight. Thermals are handy to sleep in if you have wet clothing too.

Your rucksack looks almost exactly like the one I use as a bike courier in Chicago. It’s the Nevo Rhino and you can find it on Amazon for cheap. I love the design of it. It’s a lightweight backpack yet large and setup thoughtfully. I keep my emergency things in the bottom compartment which is meant for a sleeping bag-in there I have an emergency tarp and a bunch of bike repair stuff. Also some food like granola bars and beef jerky. In that top part I keep things I need quick access to like money, a meal, a train ticket, etc. Then in the major compartment I can store up to three deliveries worth of food. That’s a lot of room! I used to do backpack hiking stuff but being a bike courier gives me the same feeling of preparedness etc. Anyway just saying, that rucksack design is GREAT. Your tent and sleeping bag look really good as well. It’s been a long time since I camped in a tent so I watch a lot of videos like the ones you upload. Have a great day!

Dont leave the thermals,if you get too hot you can lose layers, nothing wors than being cold and having nothing else to put on 👍
I think a foil backed mat would help with heat retention, and weigh next to nothing, about a tenner on amazon

Foil mat is a good call, I have some that I have cut to the foot print of the inner of my tent does make a bit of difference I think for not to much extra weight.

Just binge watched your vids,in the wrong order lol Bloody genius using the tent seam stuff as grips for the pads chap. I am still very much in over pack mode, especially in cold weather.. I am using the sea to summit Ether Light XT Extreme mat, its expensive but it is as insulated as the Thermarest NeoAir XTherm it does pack down 2-3x the size but it is comfortable unlike the thermareast. I use it in my hammock with no underblanket and also in my car.

I used to be convinced you were sponsored by OEX, as time went by and we got to know you better, I began to understand it was just a bit of OCD type thing, I can understand that, I got a Swedish Army LK35 rucksack, a canvas one, then I happened to get a Condura one, then, of course, I ended up having to get an example of each of the various rucksacks issued, until I had 7, then I got a Swedish Army stainless steel M40 mess kit, then the M44 aluminium one, then I got two unused ones in each metal, then I got onto poncho tent halves, 21 of those (no idea I had so many until I just worked it out now 😱🙁🥴🤣). Then each countries mess kit and on it goes!😁🤣😂. So, yes, I entirely get the OEX thing!😁

I'm from Scotland originally, done a fair bit of camping up there, half the time, even if you plan for a fire, either its p*ssing down, or has been and everything too wet, so often you cant do one, I would defo add something waterproof to kneel and sit on and a microfibre towel to dry stuff, would most certainly take the Down Jacket, if you are walking in the Hills, would also recommend some trekking poles as easy to do an ankle in, assume you will have a large Tarp, to rig up an Admin area shelter. Have a great trip and camp.

Great little video Dan. I’d just swap out your gas for a canister that can be used on both gas burners. You might need an adapter? First aid kit and a water filter are the other two things I’d add. Spot on otherwise fella. Good luck with the trip. Atb. Paul.

  • @smokinrider
    @smokinrider 3 года назад

Ditch the cool pots cooker and jet boil. Just take your trangia 27.
Contains all you need. Saves taking 2 gas canister (as the tall one won’t work with your jet pot) 2 stoves. Plus it’s quiet so you can brew up while others are asleep, without disturbing them.

Hi, sitting here in Sydney Australia and after watching hundreds of wild camping videos in Scotland, I think you might want some walking poles. Everybody that does this wild camping says that they really help with walking the up and down the mountains. They also say that the ice and rain hitting into their chest the water leaks through zips and the stitching embroidery on the front of jackets and they get wet and cold underneath the jacket. 😎

To make the air mat sticky enough to not slide. Smear some silicone sealer on it and this will stop it sliding around. If you do both sides, your sleeping mat will stay in place too.

I live and camp in Scotland and many of the folk I know are using the OEX Leviathan 900 this time of year as the night time temps are already down to a few degrees give or take and that can easily drop below zero this time of year up on the north coast. I was out last weekend and used my trekoloy ul140 and a closed cell foam mat underneath, along with a British Army down sleeping bag and a sleeping bag liner and was toasty without being too warm. Just out of interest why Inverness? If it’s for breath taking scenery then it’s hard to beat Argyll and Lochaber on the West coast.
