    There are definitely higher and lower grade Chinese steel. Used to have family water well drilling business and the steel casing we would get from China sometimes would be very different from others. Most of the time Chinese steel was softer. Korean steel casing was much stronger and always good.

      @@RobotUnderground So I currently have a Brahma and love it.... been running brahmas since the mid 00, but it's more of an SQ based build. I have another vehicle (SUV) that I want to do a new build in and I have 12-15 cubes net to work with so I was thinking a pair of 18's. I have a pair of ascendant Havoc 15's, which I believe were built by NCA labs, and an Ascendant Avalanche 18. The havocs came unglued at the spider spacer, but would be fine if I reglued it, but I was thinking of just getting those rebuilt into 18's. The avalanche was over powered and probably needs reconed..... you wouldn't by chance know how to get ahold of an avalanche motor so I could run a pair? Another option is just to grab a new pair of 18's..... I'd definitely be interested in running a pair of brahma 18's if you have any brahma motors... sorry for the wall of text... is there a good way to contact you to discuss?

    • @RobotUnderground
      @RobotUnderground  3 года назад

      @@mikewalker4950 The Havoc and Avalanche are built by Fi there in Vegas. Hit up the guys at AA to see if they'll sell you just a motor.. Maybe something used or whatever. Both those motors are better than anything that Adire ever built, even the Tumult. I'd just stick with those since we're not all made of money. I've been campaigning that SQL is just overkill, deep playing bass.. Which it is... But when people still want number, I'm out. Numbers are a different game and nobody has the budget to get 160db @ 30Hz.

    • @mikewalker4950
      @mikewalker4950 3 года назад

      RobotUnderground these are old gen 1s the avalanche was built by Scott, but it was destijl in the re days and xbl. I guess I could ask if there was a motor laying around but I doubt it. The havoc is gen 1 before Scott bought AA from chad. It was made by NCA and was a very low quantity run. I believe the motor is similiar to one of the older mojos with the orange 12 spoke and original IA DP. I can’t even find any images online so I’ll have to go take a pic when I’m at my storage unit. Maybe buying 18” baskets and recones would be the way to go for those.

    Haha "THAT'S IT!" Your "shortcut claims" are wild nonsense. When building a sound system, of course we look into the car audio. It is just that it is not feasible. The goodie drivers are more expensive than PA, one needs commercial repeatability, and also efficiency, because not every place has 100kW mains for you. Upper range of PA drivers now hang at Xmax around 15mm which is fine for 40Hz and flat final response, and at 30Hz you have box tuning where the cone barely moves anyways. In Europe, you can't get much for under $500 in car audio department.
