- The 3rd in a series of Vegan Lunches That Will Make Your Friends Jealous: Jackfruit 'Tuna' Sliders! These vegan 'fish' burgers are crispy on the outside, tender on the inside and completely delicious and made with healthy ingredients. The flaky texture of jackfruit gives them a realistic texture while miso and nori imbue a delicate seafood flavour. Tasty both hot and cold, serve them on soft buns with vegan tartar sauce and vegan cheddar.

*Do I HAVE to rinse the jackfruit so much??*
I do; you might not have to. I ate jackfruit as a kid in both sweet and savory forms and can taste it a mile away. If you don't mind that flavour then do your thing. I rinse mine at least 3 times. Usually more.
*Isn't the core edible? Aren't those pods ok?*
It's up to you but I find the core too tough for this recipe and the pods are super ew imo.
You can use the tough cores in other jackfruit recipes where the jackfruit is cooked more so it can get soft. Like in Jackfruit Bao (vegan gua bao): goo.gl/WeybfU

I think I'm gonna try this with artichoke hearts tho and change some things, I made schnitzels with artichoke and chickpeas and it worked great so.
Jaap Hi there. You can get jackfruit on Amazon. Mary used the one in brine. I would use the one soaked in water my self. You will not have to rinse so much 😊

Hey! I love the ideas here and just tried making a batch. I found because I use an induction cooktop the jackfruit couldn't cook thru as thoroughly when the outsides became nice and crispy...I think I might try boiling the jackfruit bits first before squeezing it to see.
