Great piece, Crow. I appreciate your attention to detail in calling out the mis-labeling of Asteroids. Those things matter! 🕹️

Thanks for the Liberator story, it's great to finally understand what's really going on there.

So, that's the story behind "Liberator"...finally, I like it! Thank you!
I hope that they will fix theses games as soon as possible, this compilation has some charm for me, so I can't wait to enjoy these classics in a more playable state.
The "Asteroids" scandal is huge...I can't find the words to describe my reaction when I discovered it. I don't want to believe that anyone at Blaze noticed the bug! Has this collection been controlled before being released? It seems don't...as it's already happened for many other collections.

Once again you’re spot on. My unexpected standouts were the same as yours: Canyon Bomber, Night Driver, and Skydiver are all delightful and I’ve hardly ever played them before.

I was really disappointed with this one. I just don't understand why they didn't choose games that don't rely on analogue controls.

Atari had very few arcade games that didn’t depend on analog control. I wish Evercade would release a trackball/spinner controller.

Has there been any official response or explanation as to why the cart is labelled as Asteroids Deluxe, but has the original Asteroids only?
Seem rather odd to me. Don't get me wrong: I actually quite like the arcade Asteroids, but it sure seems strange they could make such a huge error.

I use to love centipede in the arcade but I didn't have much time with Millipede. I remember you should have been able to go up and down in the game along with right and left. Missile Command was a favorite for the 2600. I'd love the arcade version which has stuff the 2600 doesn't. Wargames for Coleco-vision was even better. Speaking of Coleco, is there a Mr. Do available anywhere? Coleco was great! I recall playing an arcade Missile Command that wasn't in color. As for Super Breakout, I'd like to see a similar modern version of it. That one pinball game (forget name) had you breaking blocks.

Crystal Castles is much better with a trackball because it feels much more exact . It’s not for everyone.

Are there any plans for a controller that would work on the Evercade to solve the problem with the controls?

Pong isn't the original. It's a recreation. The graphics are too different to the original.

A quality review as always. :-) So far, none of the arcade collections for the Evercade have really appealed to me, but I'm hoping that will change in the future.
I was wondering, have you considered looking at the A500 Mini? Normally, I don't care much about these mini consoles/computers, but the A500 Mini is an exception for me. For one thing, it's a system that is near and dear to my heart, for another, you can easily add your own games to it. The ones included are quite interesting, and one of them is Worms DC, the ultimate Worms game, which only a few people ever got to play, as it was released late in the Amiga's lifecycle, and only about 5000 copies were ever sold.

@@CrowContinuum Thanks for the reply. :-) I know you're not an Amiga guy, but in my opinion, it has a retro games library which can easily rival, and propably beat, just about anything else. To get some vague idea of just how vast it is, you may want to look at something like this: ruclips.net/video/RK5xG7OZRno/видео.html. That video just features about 300 games which were favored by one Amiga magazine at the time. There are *a lot* of notable greats which are missing from it. For a more comprehensive overview, the Amiga site lemonamiga.com features a database of 4565 Amiga games, and there's website called retro32 which can point you in the direction of about 3200 games which are prepared to run through WHDLoad, which should make them transferable to the Mini.
The Amiga was a really big deal here in Europe. There's a lot to be discovered if you're interested. :-)

Jeah, the arcade cards arent very exciting for me too. The only 2 arcade games i boot up sometimes are thumblepop and lock and chase (because i cant play Pacman on the VS). I hope we get some really awesome arcade games in the future

I’m a big fan of breakout and games in that style, but I agree, very difficult to play until Blaze is able to figure out how to make the correct controller type compatible

@@slapmeisterrecords8226 , I grew up playing Atari, so to me it’s another chance to own these games, admittedly the Evercade is a required taste but there are some great games there to play if you can look past the graphics.
