StrayDog1972 i think he is one of the best rock drummer ever, because you mostly hear that kind of tight drumming in funk music. Yes that's my point of view but groove is what I value the most in a drummer, and he has a ton of that, and you never hear that in rock. Like Hendrix drummer in band of gypsies.
"It doesn't matter if we all die...ambition in the back of a black car" You cant even start a song off more real than that...One of my favorite songs by The Cure...
My Favourite: 💔 The pain and the creeping feeling A little black haired girl Waiting for Saturday The death of her father pushing her.... I have black hair, and my dad died on a Saturday... ⚰
This song is just amazing! Exactly one month ago I saw The Cure in Zurich, and this song was the one who overwhelmed me the most, it gave me such a goose skin... oah... I'll never forget that moment!!! NEVER EVER!!!
Amazing how they *still* shred the fuck out of this song live! They've always played it and never disappointed, every time I've seen them. This is definitely one of their best live songs, if not THE best.
I know the feeling at 5:20 of pure awe ..... Saw the Cure in Los Angeles in 1980, 1982, 1983, and 1984, they were the best live band I have ever seen. The Pornography tour was unreal ... open my mouth And my head bursts open A sound like a tiger thrashing in the water Thrashing in the water Over and over We die one after the other Over and over We die one after the other One after the other One after the other One after the other One after the other
I discovered them in 1989, taught myself bass in 1997, joined a Cure Tribute band from 2000-2007, we also had a lot of revolving members, and members from 18-40 somethings! I'm now 43, my "Robert" and "Mary" are no longer together, I'm no longer a "Thompson," and we're all scattered around the world or dead....
I really love this song When I first heard pornography it was just weird to me, hypnotic dark depressive tune which really gets you in a 'dark world' I own the Dark Trilogy and since yesterday Disintegration, and since I have Disintegration I came back and listen to Pornography more then before.. maybe because although they tried to make Disintegration dark, which they did, but I realized that Pornography is the Masterpiece. The aggressive and depressive songs are just genius.
April 1984, sold out days before. Great success with fans. The Cure showed little interest in media. Robert Smith, Lol Tolhurts, Porl Thompson, Norman Fisher Jones (Noko) and Andy Anderson. They announced replacement of Noko with Phil Thornalley for the coming concerts. Acc. to interview in German media playing just for fun without plan.
Robert said during the making of Pornography he was in a down mood pissed off drunken haze he wasnt talking to mary that much either him and simon were in a haze with lol angry dark moods from Robert,as from what i read about this album from ROBERT SMITH Internet is the best,
"It doesn't matter if we all die, ambition in the back of a black car" ...it's pointing out how meaningless all your ambition is when you're dead, in a hearse, and how futal life really is all together, very dark period for Robert.
@ajittffcure maybe on looks you may have something but i was really commenting on the sound ...get "cure live" ..it really has that minimalist feel thet they never seemd to have recaptured..the drumming in particular. robert smith acctually wanted that half man half drum machine feel on the early stuff and anderson really pulled that off live.
The best cure drummer ever. Powerfull and like a clockwork.
agree. andy anderson was their best drummer.

Allow me Lol was playing very fast and aggresively also, even if not that skilled
@@eurodara yes, fast and intense, but not as clockwork
I prefere Boris…. but i'm not a specialist… RIP Andy.
The dark atmosphere of those times was beautiful.
I totally agree. My favourite era of theirs.
TOTALLY AGREE
SI͘͡Ś͝OR͘̕U҉̕E̡N and genuine
Yeah, but... the break after this album was when Smith was in treatment. Otherwise he'd be dead.
Yes I miss it too. Beautiful darkness. Poetic. Now its just dark and ugly...2020 sucks
"It doesn't matter if we all die...ambition in the back of a black car" You cant even start a song off more real than that...One of my favorite songs by The Cure...
RIP Andy Anderson
Pornography has to be the greatest album.
I remember buying it in the 80s for Hanging Garden and then loving the entire album immediately.
It’s a godsend
this song is the epitome of dark wave
Before Dark Wave was even a thing!
There's no chorus. No bridge, just exquisite pain.
Andy Anderson is so good here. RIP Andy.
Even in 2022 The Cure's sound never dies.
"It doesn't matter if we all die..."
GENIUS!
Andy Anderson drives those drums like a Mack truck ripping up the highway, great drummer and perfect match for The Cure in this incarnation.
Great line up.
andy anderson was definietely a brilliant drummer.
My Favourite: 💔
The pain and the creeping feeling
A little black haired girl
Waiting for Saturday
The death of her father pushing her....
I have black hair, and my dad died on a Saturday... ⚰
I get the impression this is one of the songs Robert is proudest of
Beatrice Johnson I hope this is so! 100 years is just BEYOND!! I think this is one of the concerts when The Cure opened for Siousxie?!
@@greggallagher6189 this would have been after the Siouxsie era. He'd released the Top, and quit the Banshees by this time.
@@zoeherriot I would be proud as hell too! ✍ The lyrical content alone is a true gift to so many musical artists and genres lasting into infinity! 🎼

tutsy bassista I’m 21. I was just never interested in RUclips until 2014
I saw them in Boston on this tour while I was at BU. Coming home I nearly got hit by a train as I was so distracted replaying this song in my head....
Amazing how they *still* shred the fuck out of this song live! They've always played it and never disappointed, every time I've seen them. This is definitely one of their best live songs, if not THE best.

My favourite cure song and love the eerie theme
the cure es el mejor grupo de toda la historia del mundo
Definitely one of my favourite songs of all times. Perfect audience and ambiance. I miss the 80s in many ways!

Norman Fisher-Jones. He usually replaced Phill Thornalley, who was involved in other projects.

ambition in the back of a black car (whatever that means...), but i love it and i love Robert!
Must mean ambition when you are just dead...in your casket in the back of black car..
