You really got Chris on this first listen. He will transport you and make you feel ever word. Keep listening including his early stuff with The Steeldrivers, a bluegrass band. He is a gifted songwriter and award winning artist on a level all his own! There isn’t a genre he can’t cover
No one who sticks faithfully to the original style will do that as well as Metallica does it. Chris Stapleton is known for vocals that dig deep and pierce your heart. I'm not a big country fan, but CS sounds more like old-school blues to me. He also says himself that his guitar playing is not technically complex...its strength is that he uses it like an extension of his voice, to convey and evoke emotion. To me, CS seems to have focused mainly on the beautiful lyrics of this song, and has used his unique soulful vocals and guitar playing to dive deep into the listeners' souls and take them on an emotional journey.
Chris defies genre. You will hear blues, R&B, soul, gospel, rock, Bluegrass & straight-up country. To hear pure blues & a master class in performance listen to "Sometimes I Cry" Live at The Bing Lounge...recorded on somebody's cellphone!
Never said he was. even explained that covers are normally done in the artists own style. I am pretty sure you missed the entire point of what I said several times in the video.
Tennesse Whiskey is probably his most famous songs. At least the one I associate him with. Like yourself I am not much of a country music fan. But I do love Chris Stapleton’s voice.
According to Rolling Stone, he's double tracking. I love this version, it's very Outlaw Country. He has an amazing voice, but this doesn't show it off to the best advantage. Try, "Cold," from the 2021 CMAs. His most well-known song is, "Tennessee Whiskey," but you need the Live at Austin City Limits performance. :)
You really should check out some of his other stuff. You mentioned he had a soulful voice and you’re right on. He’s considered country, but he pulls from the blues and R & B. He’s also incredible live. Some feel he’s even at his best live. He’s also a gifted guitar player, as you’ve probably already figured out. Check out I Was Wrong, Sometimes I Cry, Death Row, Whiskey and You, Either Way (I could go on and on). Check him out. You’ll probably be hooked.
It is clear that you do not understand the concept of the Black List. The artists are encouraged to make the song their own, I would be upset to hear them simply imitate the song in their style. "a complete departure" is what we are looking for.
I feel like this could have been the theme song for Sons Of Anarchy… nothing will ever beat Metallica but I kinda like this and I’m not really a fan of country music.

He's great, he can sing anything, love him

If you want to hear someone that’s as good if not better live, check out Cold from the 2021 CMAs
I personally loved the solo. I close my eyes and just relax to it
HE'S NOT TRYING TO DUPLICATE THE ORIGINAL!!!!!!!!!! CHRIS IS ONLY HONORING THE ORIGINAL. NICE JOB CHRIS. THANK YOU. PERIOD!!!!!

I'm definitely not judging the artist on this one song at all. I'll check out Tennessee Whiskey. :)
@@CappVlogs His wife, Morgane, backs him up on almost all his music. She's a fantastic vocalist in her own right.

His wife Morgan is his backup n she’s equally talented. You need to check out his other music
His wife is his backup singer, so could be her!

Not at all. I understood and even said that in the video. I didn't throw negatives at the cover. I commented on the change and welcomed the departure.
the womans voice is his wife
Awesome!
Not bad
Sherry . This is the same guy. His name is Chris Stapleton. Ha ha. Check out the rest of his songs. Che ck out his awards.
His wife sings backing vocals

You are supposed to make it you're own , when you do a cover. Metallica thought it was great.
That's what I said too.
I like both versions and I would also agree that the solo was a bit off compared to the original.
I hate country, I threw up in my mouth a little! I need to listen to some Metallica to cleanse my soul!!!
ALL I CAN SAY IS GO BACK TO YOUR RATTDOGG'S HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
