I wrote Bob an email about 20 years ago...I started by saying you don’t know me but I want to thank you for all of your songs as like countless others they mean a great deal to our lives, etc. he just replied back with “you’re welcome...and I know exactly who you are.” Fare thee well American legend
@@jonkiparsky7369 he didn't elaborate just that he knew where I was coming from..if you think about it, as much as the music means to us, imagine what it meant to him
He did know you. I heard Neil say something similar; like how the artist don't own the songs after they write it. He went on to describe seeing a guy blaring "Like a Rolling Stone" in his car and singing out the lyrics. He described that guy as being right there with Bob and capturing the essence of the song.
Your Ripple ~ the first song that found my son's voice; he so wanted us to see you sing this; perhaps he may now. These songs in our hearts, beyond the air we breathe. Rest in Peace, Mr. Hunter, my son, everyone
"If I knew the way I would take you home." Hunter taught us that we must each follow our own path which is our destiny. Rest well Wordsmith. You helped many people including me.
Rest In Peace Robert Hunter. Thank you for all the songs. They will continue raising Earthy vibrations each time played. I hope that fountain is as beautiful as you imagined.❤️
No one can make my emotions soar like Robert Hunter. He is a giant among the greats of music and poetry. Someday, when the disappointments of the 1960s are long forgotten, humanity will celebrate Robert as one of the giants of music and poetry. While those of us who know and love his songs and poems already have acknowledged his brilliance, eventually the rest of the human race will as well.
Its funny, I was saying something similar about Kris Kristofferson to my dad recently. My dad's response was "Its quite a step up from She Loves You Yeah Yeah yeah". Ha.
There is no other writer that I have or will ever quote on a daily basis. Let us all continue to study, discuss and draw meaning from the wordsmith master that (IS) Robert Hunter. May you rest in the transitive nightfall of diamonds. Yours forever........ramble on Ray.
It’s a beautiful poem like so many he shared with us. American Beauty and Working Mans Dead are full of these fabulous lyrics, albums I wore out as a teenager. Thank you gentle soul.
The genius, along with Jerry Garcia, behind most of the Dead's songs. I hope you, John Mayer, and Bobby can get together and write a few more for Dead and Company.
This man was a genius..rest in peace ..glad i had the chance to meet you with Brent at the stone pony asbury park some 34 years ago...ride on promontory rider
Nice to see some vids on here Robert. God bless you sir, a true poet. Your lyrics are truly awesome. My daughter is named Summer Rose, her name was inspired by your words and Jerry's music.
I had the Honor of seeing Mr. Robert Hunter in Boston about 10 years ago. Just incredible. Just a wonderful Human being. That path is for , your steps alone. God Bless You Robert Hunter. 🙏
Imagine the songs him and jerry writing together now . Gives us all something to look forward to hearing in our next journey . Two of the best song writers ever . Thanks for all songs and memories that will last a lifetime
Awesome - You along with Bob Dylan are the best songwriters/lyricists I have ever known - and there are a lot of good ones but you two are sincerely GREAT!
Happy heavenly 79th birthday Robert!! Your sacred words will live for all eternity! Forever Grateful for you, and the Dead!! I am finishing up a painting DEADicated to you now!! Fare the well brother and Not Fade Away!!!
Great song, wise song. But as time went by, the lyrics of Attics of my Mind resonated even more to me. Cloudy dreams unreal, or what many call life. One can hope that the petals unfolded in the end for this poet. The quiet hero of the dead.
Robert your poetry and lyrics have given life to several million dreams and inspired multitudes to write and play music and filled lifetimes worth of imaginations with wonder and awe. We miss you here instantly but wish for you the most majestic peace there is.
If my words did glow with the gold of sunshine And my tunes were played on the harp unstrung Would you hear my voice come through the music Would you hold it near as it were your own? It's a hand-me-down, the thoughts are broken Perhaps they're better left unsung I don't know, don't really care Let there be songs to fill the air
Thank you, Robert, for all the joy, tears, laughter and other forms of magic you shared with us. And thank you for sharing some time with me at that picnic table years ago in Oregon. We had a good talk, and though I was in awe of your genius, you struck me as one of the most grounded humans I've ever met. 💖
Rest In Peace Mr. Hunter.. your lyrics have touched so many lives thru the years!! Now the pen 🖊 is reunited with vessel!! Wherever you and Jerry are at I hope your making music together once more!! ☮️ ✌🏻
There is a fountain that was not made by the hands of man... and U my friend surely drank from that fountain! Ur cup was full, & thank U for those verses U spilled. One man gathers what another man spills. May angels have led U home! 🙏🎶😇🎶🙏

KhalDrogo76 Ah, always the poet. 'I know exactly who you are', says so much, with so few words.
And who were you? (or didn't he say?)
