@@mikes.4863 No one said that. Medication can be helpful to some people, but not everyone. That's why THERAPY is essential, because it addresses behaviors and causes behind behaviors in a safe environment where patients can learn new ways to cope and manage their life in a healthy way. Does medication help with therapy? For some, yes. But there's a reason why it's critical to have a good relationship with your prescribing physician as well as your therapist, and that you approve communication between them, because changes in behavior caused by medication or side effects that seem unmanageable need to be addressed, and having open communication helps that. Not everyone will respond to psychiatric medicine, I know a few people who have never had any response to the array of medications available because that's how their brain chemistry works. Therapy, however, has made life not only manageable but a generally good thing for them. Please, if you don't want medication, understand that a licensed therapist isn't necessarily going to suggest it, let alone require it as some negative myths about therapy imply. For example, my therapist can see patients in a talk therapy setting but has no prescribing power, and will help patients advocate for the path they feel safest pursuing because some folks (especially those who survived growing up with addicts for parents) are extremely averse to medication. Having an honest conversation about what you feel comfortable with will help you figure out whether the therapist in front of you is the right match. I wish you well on your journey.

Number 4... Omg YES. I'm a marriage and family therapist, and this has driven me crazy! Even if a life coach has "training," they are NOT professionals! I have heard of people who act like alternative life coach gurus, and they are HORRIBLE. They act like they have answers, but they don't actually help in the long run, nor do they have any ethical governing-body/obligation. I know someone who asked one such person about a diet for a certain medical condition, and this life coach responded with, "go check what kind diets people are suggesting on instagram." Smh 🤦. The proper response is, "that's. Beyond my scope of expertise. It would be best to speak to your doctor/nutritionist."

Don’t feel pressured just because other people are doing it.. No one in college is gonna offer you Flakka or anything unless you’re paying for it.. if you’re dealing with a situation where someone is attempting to force you into taking something?? Don’t be an idiot and regret taking something that will kill you. Your parents will be ALOT happier if you call them and explain what’s goin on while you’re walking down the sidewalk, chances are they’ll pick you up wherever you are and take you back home.. if you’re worried about snitching, don’t…. If any of those kids were to die from taking them that’s gonna be on your mind for the rest of your life and are looking at criminal charges on a federal level based on collaboration, their parents will also be held liable at some point if it doesn’t stop, real friends don’t let their friends kill each other.. I’m fresh out of high school and found this out the hard way… Check on your true friends.. make sure they know you care for them but won’t endanger yourself to be their friends

My PA said I was having cardiac anxiety attacks. (I’m a mother of two littles)
She said that she sees Mom’s like myself frequently.
Then she recommended Xanax. I told her that I’m not having panic attacks due to a lack of Xanax.
I try to get more sleep now and switched my 1 Nespresso serving to half caf. That seems to help. I talked to my dad about it and he said I needed to gain weight. Gaining weight has helped too.

You'd be doing such a responsible & mature thing in asking for help.
Let the counselor act as a buffer between you & your parents so you won't be so afraid to talk to them. your parents want the best for you & it's their job to see to your needs. Give them the opportunity to do that, ok? 💛
